Dragon's Greed

Somewhere in the Magus World's Central Continent.

An enormous floating city high in the skies was traversing through the Central Continent of the Magus World, situated high above the clouds, far from the reach of the ground-bound world.

Most of the floating cities were typically built on large platforms or airships held aloft by magic or advanced technology. They offer a unique perspective of the world below, and their residents enjoy a lifestyle unlike any other.

The Sky City was constructed entirely out of gleaming white marble and adorned with sparkling jewels shimmering in the sunlight.

This city was constructed on a hemispherical island, with concentric rings that expand outwards from the center, each ring representing a different level of society and a different purpose at all.

The heart of Sky City was a large-scale floating garden, forming the 'floating' landscape that gave the title of the floating city. This garden, the Drifting Garden, was the heart of Sky CIty's power.

It was also the temporary imperial residence of His Majesty, the Monarch of the Skies.

At the center of Sky City lies the Imperial Palace of the Monarch of Skies, where the ruling monarch resides. It was also a place where his Magus Tower was built together with the central library of the Sky City.

This magnificent structure is a testament to the city's wealth and grandeur, with soaring towers and sweeping arches that seem to touch the sky. Surrounding the palace are the gardens of the Royal Court, filled with exotic flora and fauna from across the realm.

Beyond the palace, the first ring of the city is home to the nobility and upper classes; the people living there were all powerful Magi or members of the Lightwing Species, which was the race of the Monarch of Skies.

The second ring is home to the middle classes, where the architecture is more modest but still boasts a high level of craftsmanship and beauty. Here, the streets are lined with elegant shops and cafes, and the mansions of the wealthy are adorned with lavish gardens and fountains.

The third ring is where the commoners and workers reside, with more practical and functional architecture. This ring is home to the city's craftsmen, merchants, and laborers, and it bustles with the energy of everyday life.

The outermost ring is a protective layer of defensive fortifications, patrolled by the city's guards and protected by magical barriers that keep the city safe from harm.

Sky City is a holy land for the Magi in the central continent and is considered the Palace of Truth. Countless top-grade masters, artisans, and scholars gather there, calling it the cradle of knowledge.

In terms of innovations and advancements in spells, rapid progress is made every single day.

Gu Long was flying concealed high above the clouds, hidden from the detection abilities of the Sky City as he observed the place with curiosity and greed.

He was aware that this floating city would be considered even in the Chthonian Empire, not because of its power but rather the profoundness of the blueprint. He would be that entire bunch of scholars from the Magisterium of Arcanotech would jump at the opportunity to study the plans.

Not to mention, the grand nobles would want to buy them for themselves for the construction. Right now, in the Higher Dimensional World of Baator, aside from the Phalanxes, there were no similar Floating Cities as there was not really need for them.

Researchers wouldn't really research into this topic because contrary to the efficiency of the Phalanx, the efficiency of the Floating City was mildly lower, so nobody from the Imperial Administration bothered enough.

Naturally, if they were presented with a working blueprint, then the situation would reverse and the Chthonian Empire would obtain another powerful weapon in their arsenal.

Gu Long, using his innate abilities, was able to see that this Floating City was something contracted by at least peak Rank 8 Magus or probably someone from the outside.

While to normal eyes, it would be invisible, but he who was educated by the best tutors in the Chthonian Empire on the topics of the Arcanotek, he was able to tell that this was a really frightening weapon that was right now working only on 1% of its capacity.

'That old coot Zabofel should be peak Rank 6 Breaking Dawn Magus, so around the same as me, though he has tens of thousands of years of experience compared to me... and as a member of the Lightwing Race, he should be pretty powerful in the area of Light Element.'

Gu Long thought over the situation and formulated what would be the best method of ambushing the Monarch of Skies.

The Lightwings were one of the winged races. They had an exceptional sensitivity to light elemental energy particles and usually had very good results when training in light-type spells, magic and techniques.

In fact, they were pretty similar to Angels...

This gave them very strong offensive, defensive and even supportive capabilities because the Light Element was a very versatile one.

Naturally, Zabofel as the most senior member of his species, was also the strongest one who mastered countless of Light-attributed techniques for every purpose.

'I still don't know the combat capabilities of that dammed city and to which extent he could activate them. Though logically thinking, if he could draw more power from the city, then probably the Monarch of Skies would have long ago ascended and become a Being of Law.'

The most simple strategy Gu Long could think of was doing what the dragons were best at...

Wreak havoc and attack the Monarch of Skies in one huge AOE attack as strong as possible.

Gu Long wasn't some heaven-shattering strategist or tactician, but due to his upbringing, he was very well educated in this manner and knew some basics... especially when it came to exploiting things during the fights.

Devils were cunning and natural at scheming and exploiting the weak sides of their enemies.
