Chapter 9: Chicken Rampage in Tyren City [ 1 ]

---Region 4: Tyren City---

----Gayara POV----

"What the heck is that? It's so hard...and HUGE!"

I have been running around since earlier, being chased by this monstrosity. The thing looked like a chicken dinosaur, which to my eyes, is very funny. Why? Because the thing still looked like a chicken but it's size is enormous, blood still fresh on its beak and the most troubling is that it might have ability to fly through long distances.

*crash!* *crash!* *crash!* *crash!*

Many cars became scraps of metal at the mere step the chicken took. Even though it is carnivorous now, when it attempts to roar, what comes out is a chicken crow: making even the sniper I situated 600 yards away to laugh in obvious hystery.

"Puk, puk, puk, puKKAAAK!!!" the chicken dinosaur crowed angrily.

"Damn! That's too loud." My eardrums bled from that frequency, blood flowing from my ears. To my relief, it regenerated almost immediately. I didn't want to lose touch with my Lieutenant General because they might have died or in danger and I don't even know.

Anyway, for some reason that I don't know of: it grew so big from up to 18 feet in height and body stretching for about 40 feet, teeth being 25 cm in my estimation.

"You mean that tailless chicken dinosaur? pfffhahaha!" a voice all too familiar to me commented through the radio earpiece.

Tailless? Not really. It had shiny, dark blue sickle feathers and sky blue tail feathers because it was still a chicken no matter what it looked like. It's red comb had hardened considerably, orange eyes gleaming, controlled by its predatory instincts. Compared to the dinosaurs being featured through media, this one had an orange cape which is raised: making it appear even bigger. It had red saddle feathers on its back which I think, [ wouldn't it be great if this thing can become my mount? ]

It's kind of cute that it started beating its flight feathers which is a mix of sky blue and dark blue. Judging by this, it probably is a rooster.

I didn't reveal any of my supernatural abilities to anyone save those that are very close to me, not wanting to create trouble and unnecessary fear.

"Lieutenant General Jupiter! Be serious." I reprimanded.

"Obey! General."

The city ruins are in shambles and my mission is not to confront the chicken dinosaur but to rescue the civilians in Region 4 who are still stranded. As such, I volunteered to distract it alone with which my subordinates secretly rejoiced in because of fear. After fighting with them for years, they have seen how I always made fighting unnecessarily bloody: limbs flying everywhere and blood dripping from my knuckles everytime. Gunfights had never been my thing because I couldn't derive any pleasure from the killing when it's done.

[ Anyway, whoever made this animal is either crazy or just plain irresponsible: letting it loose in the middle of the city like nobody's business. ]

*tock, tock!!*

A huge, yellow beak broke the rode were my footprints are as I jumped over vehicles that have been left in so messy a fashion: there was no order as to how it was parked, blocking my way and slowing my speed.

*pyong!*

"PuKKAAAK!!!"

A bullet went through the neck of the chicken: giving me the chance to increase the distance between us.

[Ugh! No matter how strong I become, there is always someone stronger. If I don't take this thing down, I can't be rest assured.]

Because of this kind of thought lingering in my mind, I had to do a U-turn: jumping with all the power I could muster and stabbing the chicken with my claws so that I would not fall. It's feathers were so smooth that my feet keep on slipping: my claws were the only reason I could cling my way up to the chicken's head without being thrown away.

"PuKKAAAK!!!"

It began rampaging: violently crashing its body on the buildings, electric posts and reinforced glasses. I, who is on its neck is of course, crushed as well, but luckily cushioned by its cape so the damage is minimum. However, the pain of being crushed is still unbearable as blood kept on flowing from my ears, head and the wounds on my back that are still impaled with broken glass. I winced with every muscle contraction because every time I move, the glass shards dig into my flesh even more.

Looking from left to right, I checked if there is anybody around. I didn't want anyone to see what I am about to do. Then I realized that one of my Lieutenant Generals is watching me with his eye on his scope. I nearly made a mistake so simple, it could have been troublesome. Luckily, my radio earpiece survived the attack: though it became bloody from the constant rupture going on inside my ear every time the chicken crowed in anger or on pain.

"Lieutenant General Jupiter, stop assisting me and look for any suspicious individual loitering around. If you see any, don't try to engage in a shoot-out. Make sure to catch them alive."

I did my very best to lie, and giving him a separate mission was the most plausible way. He was quiet at first but spoke a few seconds later.

"But who will assist the General if I am to abandon my post?"

Lieutenant General Jupiter asked but still began to move, knowing that I would never take no for an answer.

"I have no need for an assistant and I never did!"

With that, I heard him walk away in silence. He was not the only one around though. I knew that my aunt had an eyeliner in my Black Wolf Corps so I was never complacent with my transformations.

Anyway, I found out about it accidentally when I smelled my aunt's scent on the aide de camp the moment she reported to me on her first day.

I just had to concentrate on my hearing and I found a drone: inconspicuously hovering by the distance so as not to catch my attention.

[ Did she seriously think that I never would have noticed? If I were a normal human, I would have been unaware that my every action has always been filmed in secret. ]

I retracted my right hand claw and dug for the handgun which I used to carry with me just for show. I never really used it so, this will be the first time that I do.

*bang!*

The drone was shot in the middle, causing the camera to stop working even though it's still able to fly. Now, it's as good as useless.

[ Finally! This is the most exciting part. One thing I can never do when unnecessarily being monitored or accompanied by another overzealous soldier, insisting on assisting me. ]

"Now then, it's a showdown between us: a wolf and a chicken!"

----Vincent POV----

"Okay, the mission this time is to rescue the survivors and protect them. The first brigade will be in charge of defending the evacuation area. The second and third brigade will be in charge of the rescue operations. Remember to scour the whole area, leaving no citizens for dead. Now go!"

"Receive, Lieutenant General!"

My soldiers saluted in unison: assault rifles on their left and fists over their heart. They were lined per brigade at the entrance of the city where a toll gate stood. My soldiers wore steel-colored combat uniforms and black helmets for protection.

They immediately divided into groups: carrying with them motion detectors, submachine guns, ammunition, body armor, first aid kit, thermal and ballistic shields. Some boarded armored vehicles to get to their destination while some began the search upon arriving at the entrance. Just in case things escalate to uncontrollable heights, there was one tank on standby.

There are four military transport aircraft parked at the back of the line for escorting the civilians away from the city to their temporary shelter in Region 7. Further at the back are 4 helicopters: 2 being ground supports, transporting assault troops, and for short-distance transport and surveillance while the remaining two being copter-guards.

"I do hope we don't have to resort in using the tank or the helicopters. Otherwise, things might really get bad."

Eldram country is divided into 14 Administrative Regions in direct relation to the Central Government and 3 Autonomous Regions generally supervised by the Central Government: each having a Governor responsible for implementing state laws and overseeing the operation of the state executive branch.

In this case, Region 7 was established solely for accommodating the victims of the recent prehistoric animals revived by Doctor Polaris. She is a mysterious mad scientist from Cosmos continent that decided to plague Eldram country with her abominable experiments. Although the revivals didn't go exactly as she envisioned them to be, the chaos and destruction they inflicted had been enormous.

As such, the Black Wolf Corps have been running around the country suppressing these failed experiments: it's like cleaning after some psycho's mess.

[ Why do I have to do this? The General always operated alone despite her position but...confronting a monster of that size is..just too much! ]

As for me, I set up a tent as a mini base near the military aircrafts: a convenient position for keeping track of the mission progress and where I can be contacted for reinforcement and command.

Since this is a large scale mission, there were soldiers left who had the duty of attending the medical station and the cooking station. Their tents were built away from each other because blood and food don't go well together: who would want to smell blood or the stink of not having been bathed for days while cooking?

*sigh*

"It's gonna be a long day."

I put a separate monitor aside for contacting the Commander-in-chief who is the President of the country: she always unwillingly ask for update about the General but seriously analyzes the status reports about the current mission.

"The general has made contact!"

The aide de camp informed me with an expression I could not read: flashing a 3 by 4 meters monitor on. Agora is her name: an overbearingly serious but loyal to death stalker or should I say, follower of General Gayara. Since our general's departure, she has been following the general's movement with a customized drone instead of monitoring the movement of each brigade.

Next to the monitor is another monitor displaying the map of the Tyren City. There were many red dots indicating the soldiers of Black Wolf Corps: spreading to the 9 districts of the city from District 1 to District 9. The General on the other hand, is at the Melroy Street: charging at high speed no normal human can ever achieve.

[ Hell! Who would have thought that the General went on missions alone because of a reason like this? If it were me, I would have been fresh meat already. ]

Still, I have always noticed this behavior of the distant aide de camp which strikes me as odd. The other soldiers just waived it as Agora being the stalker kind of fan but my gut is telling me that it's not the case.

As she is an omega, I thought [ she probably has a crush or at least admiration for the General but her behaviour does not indicate any of such symptoms. On the contrary, it's like spying is the more appropriate term. Wait...could she be a spy?! But if so... Whose spy is she? ]

Before I could even think of the new discovery, my brain went mum for a split second after witnessing our ever so great general running away from an overgrown chicken while jumping over the many vehicles blocking her way.The game 'Temple Run' immediately comes to mind, making me laugh in the back of my mind.

Then the next thing I know, she jumped from the ground to the chicken's neck which is really not normal. It shocked me just a little bit since I already had my suspicions about her being one of the victims of human experimentation.

Her strength alone is abnormal even if she is an Alpha. The General also exhibits behaviors corresponding to the aftereffects of the possible changes in her body or her overall health. It's just that I didn't have concrete proof about anything at all. Besides,

[ the General didn't want us to know. If so, then I don't know anything. ]

The chicken began to thrash, crashing left and right in an effort to get rid of the General. Such that, it made me wonder if General Gayara can even survive the attack. When we were able see her full form, glass shards of different sizes stuck on her back: eliciting a gasp from Agora. Her expression is as though she had done something wrong.

[ Isn't she a spy? Why is she acting like a maid who is about to get a scolding from her master because of a mistake? ]

She panicked even more when the General shot her drone so that we can't see anything from where we are. Then she stood still, thinking about her next actions: sweat sliding down her temples.

"What are you-?!"

Agora began opening a box, revealing another drone. She took it and let it fly again to the sky with a determined look on her face. Yes, I am speechless. She practically knew that the General didn't want any eyes on him but still sent a drone again. She looked like she is ready to die yet reluctant at the same time.

[ Seriously? Is she hostile or not? I'll confront her about this later when I get the chance. ]

----Polaris POV----

I have been sitting at the top of the tallest highrise building in district 9, Knowing full well that making Tyren City as the nest for my Tyrannosaurus Rex Revival Project is an impossibility. Everytime I tried to revive a prehistoric animal to prove or disprove the theories made by other humans, the Black Wolf Corps almost always comes parading like a wave of tsunami: destroying everything I've been working on or just take my work for their own use.

I should have been angry but I could not for there is a far more valuable subject of study that I have been observing for a while now. Besides, I just try to revive prehistoric animals for fun since it's my hobby. It's only frustrating because my wallet is now empty and the only thing I could eat are the oversized eggs in my laboratory.

*chirp!* *chirp!*

My pet named dragon kept nudging me while I spied on the Black Wolf Corps General who just morphed into a massive black wolf with two lines of white fur on her head.

"Oho, what an interesting find. A human morphing into a wolf is better than a group of mindless beast. I should meet with her, only if she can defeat Drex of course."

She is standing on the back of Drex, a rooster I expected to turn into a dinosaur but just grew oversized and carnivorous along with the other 7 hens. One day, it just broke free from its cage during the feeding hour: eating my servants, running away with his wives and destroying the City overnight.

[ What did I even expect from a mindless animal? ]

*sigh*

I turned my attention to Dragon. She was once a little flying lizard that I raised ever since I was 15 years old but now her size is just as big as a helicopter. That's right, I tampered with here genes: trying to revive the dead genes in her system but the result is just like any other experiment I ever did. They just grew bigger.

Her body color is black with pale rounded spots. On her back, there are about five series of red round spots alternating with four series of larger, more conspicuous spots. The surface of her patagium, or the extensible fold of skin used in flight, is dusky.

It had five ribs supporting its patagium, upward directed nostril, a lacrimal bone and dorsal body coloration of purple. Her dewlap, or the inflatable loose skin under the throat, is large, triangular and narrow which is blue.

"You're hungry as well? It can't be helped then, come."

I took my katana that's made of hard steel forming the sword's outer shell and deadly blade, while the tough steel serves as the katana's core. The handle is wrapped in purple silk, the guard being black in color and the collar being gold in color. What I like most out of all of it, is my name engraved on the blade nearest to the handle.

With a swing of my sword, the 17 inches long egg was sliced in half: one for myself and one for Dragon.

"Now, eat."

I pushed half of the boiled egg to Dragon as she consumed it rather elegantly in a slow manner: removing the shells with her teeth. I on the other hand, just plucked a shell off of it and used it as a spoon. As a picky eater, I only ate the yolk which is at least, with taste.

I just realized that the only thing I ever did was make animals be oversized. The next thing they always do is cause me trouble.

*cry*

"Now the only thing I can eat is an oversized egg and the only wealth I have are a bunch of chicken eggs. If those soldiers down their find my laboratory, they'll steal it like everything I lost to them!"

*cry more*

"Dragon, it looks like we'll be going back to Cosmos continent after playing with that Wolfy. I'm still reluctant but I have to break my 25th oversized piggy bank."
