Lucia had placed Louise inside the safety room and she stayed with her.
Various voices rang out and then the men ransacked the house to search for someone.
"Boss, not here." One of the men reported.
"You searched all rooms?" The man bellowed. He was instructed to find the comatose girl here but there was no one inside the house.
"Search it again. Go get the dogs." The man instructed.
The men searched the house again with the sniffing dogs but they didn't find anything.
They left angrily.
"Ms. Du, the house is empty!" The man bellowed at the phone.
"What? How could that be? Jonas just left there and that useless girl was the only one left." Whitney was exasperated.
She planned so well for this day but it came out nothing?
This is ridiculous!
"Ms. Du, what about our pay?" The man asked.
She told them that as long as they can get hold of the girl, she will pay them 5 million.
"The pay will be given." Whitney gritted her teeth. Her efforts didn't pay off.
She tried to calm down. This could not possibly go wrong. She have to ask Stacy for an advice.
"Ms. Chang, come to my office." She used the intercom.
Stacy hid the smirk on her face and adjusted her jovial mood before she walked towards Whitney's office. She knocked on the door.
"Come in." Whitney's voice rang out.
Stacy pushed the door open and walked in. She saw the woman drinking red wine in the middle of the day.
"What is it?" Stacy cut the chase.
"The girl is missing." Whitney sounded her out.
"How could that be? She's still unconscious!" Stacy's tone and reaction couldn't get anymore wrong.
"Alright. You're the best actress." Whitney glanced at her and smiled.
Stacy smiled and sat across her. She poured the red wine over the glass.
"She's not a threat. We made sure that she will never wake up again right? She's just a living corpse. What are you fretting?" Stacy swirled the wine inside the glass and subtly glanced at Whitney.
"Are you sure?" Whitney still could not settle. The feeling of something that's getting out of her grasp is unbearable.
"Don't worry. I already captured Jonas. He will be dealt with accordingly." Stacy took a small sip of the wine.
"You're still the best!" Whitney giggled with glee.
Stacy smiled and said nothing.
"To a happy cooperation." Whitney proposed a toast.
Stacy clinked her glass with her and drank all remaining wine in one go.
"I'll go get busy then." Stacy stood up and arranged her suit.
The glint on her eyes still betrayed her fervour.
"En. Don't work too hard, my heart aches." Whitney said emotionally but the wide smile across her face said the truth.
Stacy clicked her tongue and strode out.
Whitney played with her chair and turned her eyes towards the bustling city.
She then raised her glass and laughed out loud.
"The winner takes it all." She said and drank all the wine.
