Mission against rogue demon

As soon as Leora's office door clicked shut behind me, I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Leora's teasing always grated on my nerves, especially when I was already in a bad mood.

"Wow, someone's grumpy today," Leora remarked, her voice dripping with amusement. She leaned back in her chair, eyeing me with that irritatingly knowing look.

"Maybe if you hadn't stripped me of my magic, I'd be in a better mood," I shot back, crossing my arms. "Did you smell that scent coming from Nathaniel? It was like someone dumped a bottle of cologne on him."

Leora raised an eyebrow. "No, I didn't smell anything unusual. Maybe it's your imagination playing tricks on you, Ciara."

I scowled. "Yeah, sure, whatever. What do you need me for this time?"

Leora's expression shifted to a more serious one. "I need you to take care of some rogue demons near the human border. It's becoming a problem, and we can't afford to have them causing chaos."

"Finally, something interesting," I muttered, feeling a spark of excitement. "So, are you gonna give me my magic back, or am I supposed to handle this with my bare hands?"

Leora sighed. "I'll lift the restriction on your magic for now. You've taken the Perfect Match test, so we'll see how that turns out. But for this mission, I need you at full strength."

As the familiar rush of power surged back into my veins, I felt a wicked grin spread across my face. "Much better. Now I can actually enjoy this."

I turned to leave, but paused when I saw Aeliana approaching the office. Something about her looked off; her pupils were unnaturally large. Before I could say anything, Leora's voice called her in, and I decided to let it go for now.

"Duty calls," I muttered to myself as I left the castle. Time to take care of those rogue demons.

My car ride to the human border was uneventful, but the anticipation of a good fight had my blood pumping. As I arrived at the scene, I could already sense the chaos. Rogue demons were causing havoc, their presence an affront to the delicate balance we maintained with the human world.

"Alright, you bastards," I growled, stepping out of the car and summoning my purple flames. "Time for a lesson in manners."

The first rogue demon lunged at me, its claws extended. I sidestepped effortlessly and blasted it with a burst of purple fire. The demon screeched in agony before collapsing into a pile of ash.

"Is that all you got?" I taunted, my eyes scanning the area for more targets.

Two more demons charged at me simultaneously. I conjured a wall of flame, incinerating one and forcing the other to retreat with a howl of pain. These demons were nothing but pests, barely worth my time.

As I continued to lay waste to the rogues, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. This was what I was made for – raw, unbridled combat. No rules, no restrictions, just me and my fire against anything stupid enough to challenge me.

"Come on, you pathetic excuses for demons!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the chaos. "Show me something interesting!"

A particularly large demon stepped forward, a menacing grin on its face. Finally, a real challenge. Its skin was like hardened stone, and its eyes burned with a malevolent light.

"Well, well," I said, cracking my knuckles. "Looks like I found the big boss. Let's see what you've got."

The demon roared, charging at me with surprising speed for its size. I barely dodged its first swing, feeling the air whoosh past my face. This one wasn't going down easy, but that only made it more exciting.

I retaliated with a barrage of purple flames, but the demon's stone-like skin deflected most of the impact. It swung at me again, and this time I wasn't fast enough. Its fist connected with my shoulder, sending me flying into a nearby tree.

"Fuck!" I spat, struggling to my feet. That hurt more than I expected. This demon was definitely stronger than the others.

"Is that all you've got, little demon?" it taunted, its voice like gravel grinding together. "I expected more from someone who talks so much."

"You're gonna regret that," I snarled, summoning more fire to my hands. "I'm just getting started."

The battle raged on, my flames clashing with the demon's brute strength. I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins, the thrill of the fight pushing me to my limits. This was what I lived for – the raw, unfiltered chaos of combat.

As the demon lunged at me again, I dodged and unleashed a concentrated blast of fire at its face. It roared in pain, momentarily blinded. Seizing the opportunity, I jumped onto its back, wrapping my arms around its thick neck.

"Time to end this," I growled, channeling all my remaining energy into one final, devastating blast of purple flames. The demon thrashed and roared, but my grip was like iron.

With a final, ear-splitting scream, the demon's body crumbled into ash beneath me. I stood up, panting and covered in sweat, but victorious.

"Too easy," I muttered, wiping the ash from my hands. As I surveyed the battlefield, a sense of satisfaction washed over me. The rogues were defeated, the balance restored. But something still nagged at the back of my mind – a feeling I couldn't quite shake off.

Pushing it aside, I turned to head back to my car. I had done my job, and now it was time to report back to Leora. But as I made my way back, the image of Aeliana's odd expression kept flashing in my mind. Something wasn't right, and I intended to find out what it was.

But first, I needed to get back and let Leora know the rogues were dealt with. There was no way I was going to let anything jeopardize the balance we'd worked so hard to maintain. And if that meant dealing with more bullshit from Leora, so be it.

As I reached my car, I felt a surge of determination. I would get to the bottom of whatever was going on with Aeliana and Nathaniel. But for now, I had a mission to complete and a report to deliver. And nothing was going to stand in my way.
