When dinner time arrived, a maid pushed a cart filled with food into Mirabella's room. Still not accustomed to eating alone, Mirabella invited the maid to dine with her, but the maid outright refused, saying that maids were not to seat as equals to nobles when dining.
Noble? Mirabella was still surprised by the title the king had granted her. She had discussed it with Gideon and was taken aback by such a grandiose title being bestowed upon her. Her position in the royal court was now next to the queen in Dusthaven, a status she still found hard to digest.
After an awkward meal in silence, with the maid watching over her, Mirabella helped pack the platters despite the maid's protests. When the maid was about to leave, she stopped and handed a letter to her.
"My lady, the king asked me to deliver this letter to you," she said with a bow, stretching the letter in Mirabella's direction.
