Chapter 4 –

April 13th, 1896

Adrian sat in a local pub-cum-restaurant, a popular spot mostly used by local people to gather and enjoy good times with friends and family. Over the last seven days, he had been meeting various girls here, each one chosen by his mother for a potential marriage. Despite being a virgin through and through, Adrian navigated these meetings skillfully.

In the preceding days, Adrian found no girls who piqued his interest—none shared commonalities, and some simply didn't align with his preferences. With the system's assistance, Adrian compiled the necessary information and, utilizing Legilimency, discerned the thoughts of those girls. His popularity, attributed to his charm and enigmatic aura, granted him the ability to gracefully decline those who didn't meet his criteria.

As Adrian waited, he observed a stunning Anglo-Latina girl with an innocent yet captivating face approaching his table, seemingly in search of someone. When she reached him, Adrian inquired, "Are you Ms. Angelina? Did Mrs. Walcombe send you the address to meet someone named Adrian?"

The girl's face lit up as though she had rediscovered lost puppies, and she blurted out excitedly, "Yes. Are you Adrian? I didn't expect you to be so handsome and polite. Sorry, I didn't properly introduce myself. I'm Angelina Dolores Warrick."

Glad to meet you. You are also stunningly beautiful. As soon as you entered the pub, I noticed you. If you were even not someone my mother sent for the blind date, I would have pursued you.' Adrian said to ease out the momentum between them as he saw the girl was embarrassed after complimenting him bluntly.

As time elapsed, they engaged in free-flowing conversation, leaving a positive impression on each other. Angelina's father, a British Royal Navy Seaman, and her mother was a Brazilian florist. Two years ago, her mother died in an accident, prompting her and her father to move to England. Both Angelina and her father were acquainted with Adrian's parents as he sometimes went to the shipyard where Adrian's father worked due to naval duty reason.

As Angelina doesn't like to spend all her time alone, she sometimes also goes out with her father as she doesn't have any friends in England. So she gradually developed a good relationship with Adrian's mother, as both shared an interest in gardening and womanly gossip.

After Adrian's mother proposed the blind date, Angelina's initially hesitant father eventually consented to let her meet Adrian, despite reservations about Adrian's mysterious life and frequent absences which he heard from his parents and few neighbors.

But Angelina harbored curiosity about Adrian, having heard so many good things about him from his mother and neighbors although he was almost non-existent in the last few years. However, during their conversation, she tactfully avoided revealing her own identity as a witch, a fact later confirmed by the system once she began conversing with Adrian.

Although Adrian was surprised he kept his calm through the meeting and was also quite happy as he didn't expect his mother to not only send a beautiful girl for a blind date, but the girl is also a witch with a good foundation and bloodline.

When they were talking, he also looked through the information shared by the system which looks like this -

As their meeting neared its conclusion, Adrian resolved that he would marry Angelina. However, before conveying his decision to his mother, he felt it necessary to clarify matters between himself and Angelina, contingent upon her acceptance.

Yet, he grappled with the dilemma of how to disclose his wizarding identity and discern whether Angelina would reciprocate by revealing her witch side. According to the secrecy rule, he shouldn't unveil his identity unless deemed appropriate in the muggle world and even if he does, he needs to find the correct time if Angelina agrees to marry him.

Although Angelina was a witch, she didn't reveal herself and also looking like from her she might also thought of him as a muggle and that might be the reason behind her silence on her magical side. So, he suddenly got into a mental tug-war between what to do- confess & confront or become silent to her just like she did.

But Angelina suddenly checked her surroundings and said, 'Can we go outside to somewhere quiet? I need to talk to you privately.' If it were another girl asking Adrian, he might have assumed they had nefarious yet sweet forbidden intentions. Not that Adrian would mind but it would definitely change his view on Angelina.

However, utilizing his Legilimency, he discerned that Angelina was mentally preparing to confess her identity as a witch. She found him not only handsome and polite but also compatible. Adrian responded, "Certainly, I also need to talk with you privately," causing a subtle blush to grace Angelina's face. Only she knew the thoughts racing through her mind as our good boy didn't use Legilimency this time.

....

After leaving the pub, they began walking along the riverside road, a quiet street during the shipyard's working hours that also led toward Angelina's home. Despite both mentioning they had something to share, a palpable silence hung in the air. Unable to endure it any longer, Angelina broke the quietude.

"I am a witch," she blurted out, almost like a car with failed brakes. However, Adrian showed no surprise in his expression, contrary to what she anticipated.

"Why are you so calm? You must not believe me. Perhaps you think I am fantasizing or lying to you. Wait! I can prove it to you," she exclaimed, reaching for her wand. Adrian promptly stopped her, causing her seemingly endless face to blush once again.

"Wait, Angelina. Performing any type of magic in a Muggle neighborhood is not lawful. And I believe you," Adrian reassured her hurriedly, fearing that her impulsive actions might cause trouble. He continued as he noticed her shocked expression, preventing her from launching into a barrage of questions.

"I am also a wizard. You are not the only one who belongs to the magical world. I asked you out to confess it, but you beat me to it," he revealed. Angelina's face displayed a range of emotions, from surprise to disbelief, and finally settling into happiness, revealing her inner feelings.

"Nah. This girl needs some serious mental training," thought Adrian. Although he could grow powerful to protect his family, they also needed the capability to shield against nonexistent enemies and ill-wishers and this required a good Occlumency shield and mental fortitude.

Afterward, Angelina slowly regained her composure, and they engaged in further conversation about themselves. While Adrian was already familiar with most of the information about Angelina, he felt the need to share more about his own life. The discussion continued as he recounted his experiences in the magical world as a Hogwarts student and his current job.

Adrian also disclosed that his parents were unaware of his wizarding identity. Despite the norm for Muggleborn parents to be informed upon receiving admission letters, Adrian had specifically asked his leading professor to help conceal this fact.

At the time, his motivation was to safeguard his family from the magical world's potential risks. The professor managed to convince Adrian's parents that he was attending an elite school for the British Muggle government, nurturing talented individuals like him.

This deception was relatively easy to uphold since Adrian had displayed brilliance from a young age and was a well-known genius recognized in the whole town who finished high school level education at just 10 years old.

His ambition was not only to improve his own life but also to uplift his family, especially considering he had been an orphan in his previous life and he was happy to have someone whom could be called family. Of course, the details of his two lifetimes were omitted from the conversation with Angelina.

Angelina, in turn, shared that she would keep their magical identities a secret. Her father harbored some resentment towards the wizarding community after her mother's tragic demise, making discretion crucial for both of them.

To Adrian's surprise, Angelina agreed to marry him after just a few hours of conversation—an unexpected turn of events that left him astonished. Because he thought he might need a couple of months at least.
