Shadow was in the forest searching for prey when he heard a roar. He saw a huge gorilla killing a huge bull without breaking a sweat, and when he scanned the gorilla, he was stunned to find that the gorilla was a Demon Beast on stage 5, a King Kong Demon Ape.
He was fired up with an opponent like this; he can challenge himself much greater, so he immediately draws Killer and activates [Origin Mode], then uses [Origin Slash], an arch is produced, and he is coming towards the gorilla.
The gorilla sensed an incoming attack and hurriedly docked to avoid it. An arc passed through its head.
It looked towards where the arc came and saw Shadow charging towardss it. At first, it thought that it was hallucinating how dare a puny human with a puny level challenge it.
It then let out a roar and also dashed towards Shadow, brimming with fury.
Shadow was already in [Origin Mode] but felt that he couldn't defeat the gorilla with just that, so he also activated [Dragon Form]. His body size increased twice as much as before, when dragon wings and tails sprouted from his head. He was covered in golden scales, and two horns were on his head.
He also activated the unique profession ability of Beastmaster [Domain Switch] and picked the blast domain ability [Predict Domain].
Shadow then coated his attack with Origin Power and Fire Element and attacked
A flaming arc was produced, and once again it was coming towards the ape. The only difference is that Shadow was still producing countless more, creating a barrage of [Flaming Origin Slash].
The King Kong Demon Ape felt threatened by Shadow's attack but also knew that it could not dodge every arc, so it let out a powerful roar. His eyes turned red, his body became a bit bigger, and all of its hair was erect.
It then started releasing punches, destroying the arcs that Shadow produced.
Shadow stops producing an arc, knowing it is just a waste of energy, so he dashes towards the King Kong Demon Ape.
The ape saw Shadow charging towards him and punched him.
Shadow also attacks the King Kong Demon Ape with the Flaming Origin Slash, unlike in the arc, where the true Origin Slash is using Killer.
*Crack* the air seems cracked when Shadow and the King Kong Demon Ape attack met.
*Boom* Shadow was blown away by the result of his and the ape attack. A couple of trees were destroyed in the process, only stopping when he was buried deep in a hill.
The King Kong Demon Ape hand was twisted and was also blown off, but not far.
Shadow then got himself out of the hill, his wings were broken, his right arm was also twisted, and Killer was broken into shards. Thankfully, Killer is a Natal Weapon, so the shards will return themselves when it has enough energy.
Shadow looked around and found that he really flew so far away and let out a sad sigh. He could not fly back because his wings were broken, so he sat down and started to recover in his dragon form. He obtained three innate abilities: enhanced regeneration (enhancing regeneration speed by 100%), enhanced strength (enhancing strength by 100%), and dragon scale (enhancing defence by 100%).
After 3 hours, he finally recovered and reverted back to his human form.
Shadow immediately writhes in pain. That is the cost of using [Dragon Form] and [Origin Mode] simultaneously.
After writhing in pain for a couple of hours, Shadow woke up at night. The pain was so great that he fainted.
Morning came, and Shadow woke up and was starved, unlike [Origin Mode], in which he uses mana, and SE [Dragon Form], which uses all the energy he has—not only mana but even vital energy—to replenish what one must eat.
So he went to hunt. He managed to kill a demon beast using [Origin Mode]. He started devouring each demon beast that was on Stages 1 to 2.
After recovering his energy, he went to where the King Kong Demon Ape and him fought.
When he arrived there, the King Kong Demon Ape was nowhere to be seen, but their battle had left so many destruction pits and broken trees that could be seen everywhere.
He just let out a sad sigh. He wanted to finish the fight.
He then returned to his training.
A month came by, and Shadow was now on Stage 3. He also gained much experience from hunting demon beasts, and he also gained another skill [Blink]. He can use this to teleport at a distance of 100 metres, but it still needs improvement to be properly used.
He was hunting in the forest, but suddenly stopped. He saw a beast. This beast was the one he had been looking for for the past month: the King Kong Demon Ape.
The King Kong Demon Ape was feasting on a dead lion when it felt that something was observing it, so it turned its head, looking at where the feeling was coming from. When it suddenly saw Shadow, its eyes widen, and it immediately raises its arm in defence.
Shadow was smiling at the reaction of the King Kong Demon Ape. He dropped the killer on the ground and raised his arm, showing that he didn't mean any harm.
The ape's vigilance lessened a bit seeing that Shadow put Killer on the ground, raised his arm, and showed no hostility.
Shadow tried approaching the King Kong Demon Ape.
Seeing Shadow approaching, the ape started to get agitated and also became very vigilant.
Shadow stops and looks at the King Kong Demon Ape. He then says, "I mean, no harm. I am only here to talk to you about forming a contract."
The King Kong Demon Ape looks at Shadow confusingly; it only understands some of Shadow, meaning it then starts to jump around and make gestures.
Shadow was observing and understood some of the ape's meaning; it was asking if he wouldn't hurt it.
Shadow nodded to it. The ape then started to approach him, full of vigilance.
Shadow never thought that the ape was a full-combat beast; some of the beasts are even smarter than it, even though it was a demon beast.
After 3 hours of sharing information and negotiating, the King Kong Demon Ape finally agreed to be Shadow's partner.
Shadow named the King Kong Demon Ape Clwyd, and he then scanned the full information about the ape.
