Spending time in this place wasn’t bad. It’s not my first choice. What can you do? It took me a few days to open. I wasn’t like the others and didn’t need to tell them my life story.

Ma, Dad, my siblings, grandparents, and the others visited me every day. Maverick came to see me every day, too. We would talk about everything.

Uncle Nix came to see me a lot too. I loved it when he came to see me.

/"How are things going? They aren’t making you nuttier than you already are, are they?/" Nix asked.

/"Nope, I’m the sanest one here./"

/"Are you sure about that? You realize who your parents are, don’t you? Wishy-washy and forgetful./"

I giggled.

He smiled. /"It’s good to hear you laugh./"

/"It feels good to laugh. It’s been a long time./" I sighed.
