Meeting the Sick Sister

After reporting a few more things to the association, Jerrald took Mors on a quick tour of the structure to show him around the building. After that, mors wished to head over to Genn's sister's house, but with Jerrald being so pleasant, Mors complied and followed him around.

Exploring around, Mors took in the beauties of this unique building. In some rooms, the floating lamps glided across the sky, and in some, a light seemed to appear out of nowhere. It was really a strange sight. But what really took the cake on tour was one particular room.

Stepping into this room, Mors found a massive sculpture in the middle of the room of a person holding a weird weapon. On the place the person was standing, clumps of metal looked like they used to be sculptures but had melted weirdly. The center sculpture also seemed severely burned, with its minor details missing. But one recognizable thing was the weapon. Which was a massive deep think looking spear.

Something confused Mors about this, and that was the fact that he felt weirdly attached to this statue. It felt like the spiritual side of the graveyard that he had recently visited. But… it couldn't be since this was just a metal sculpture. Deciding to play it off as him being tired after his day, Mors quickly followed tour leader Jerrald as he promptly left the room for the next.

The rest of the tour turned boring as many of the upper levels of the Adventurer Association tower were administration and management. With that all finished, the duo quickly descended the stairs all the way to the bottom of the building before exiting the tower entirely.

Quickly parting from Jerrald, Mors quickly searched for a quiet place to talk to Genn. Finding a short alley close to warehouses, Mors quickly called for Genn to appear. And after a few moments, the figure of Genn solidified in front of Mors's eyes. Seeing Genn, Mors simply said, "Let's go!"

Nodding his head, Genn excitingly started to lead Mors up to the main street. He remembered the path perfectly since as soon as he was done reporting his adventure, he would shoot back home to see his sister. After his mom and dad died, his sister took care of him. Now it was his turn to take care of her.

Following the speedy ghost, Mors quickly passed by the public arena and some warehouses that he didn't even have the time to identify. He knew about the public arena since it wasn't like the disappearing tower. Still, he never went there since he always rushed to get back to his graveyard. Thinking about his graveyard, Mors quickly realized that he needed to go to the governor's building to put in for a temporary replacement.

But thinking about the speeding ghost, Mors quickly shook off that thought. He could always go in the morning, and they might not even be open at the moment. So he quickly ran after Genn as quick as he could. Fast going from the central circle down the main residential road, with the lovely name of Memoria. Quickly passing the first 2 residential streets that looked like cramped little homes. He even saw some lights up on the third story.

Passing by the first two blocks of solid buildings, Mors quickly found the road ending in front of him. But watching the Genn, who had long since turned back into a blob, head over to a dirt path, Mors quickly realized that there were other solid strips of buildings just behind these too. So quickly hopping onto the dirt trail, Mors could start to feel his lungs burn like hot coals.

Quickly calling out to Genn to stop for a moment. Mors started to take in the surroundings again. Opposite the residential block, there was a small lake that stretched over towards the wall and some small fields inside the town. Strange, sometimes glowing plants were blooming out from there, bathing in the soft moonlight. Felling his lungs calm down after a few moments, Mors quickly looked towards the spiraling blob before running again.

Quickly reaching the end of the dirt path, Mors was met with a row of homes that were even smaller than the first two rows. There was barely any space to move around anywhere, and all the buildings were practically touching each other. Spriting down the street following the blob, Mors tried his best to stay in the moonlight since there were no lights around.

Mors couldn't see many details on one side of the road, but on the other side that was illuminated by the moon, Mors could see the chipped walls and little windows. Quick following the small blob, Mors watched it head toward a pair of stairs that were practically shooting out into the street. But as it reached the stairs, Genn stopped as if waiting for something.

Finally catching up to Genn, Mors quickly heard Genn tell him, "You should be able to see all the way up because of the moonlight. But when you see my sister, no matter what I do, just tell her you were a friend of mine and that you wanted to check up on her."

Then after announcing that, Genn quickly shot up the rickety stairs before stopping at a certain door, just waiting. Seeing the flight of stairs and feeling the burn start in his lungs, Mors decided to slowly go up the stairs. Step after step, Mors realized that he was about to meet Genn's sister, or at least he hoped to see her just fine. Genn seemed scared for her health, and he didn't wish to see someone that had grown to be a friend to him in pain. It would hurt too much.

But he couldn't procrastinate any since he could feel Genns eyes watching him with an unusual intensity. Like he was trying to focus on just Mors instead of the possibility of his sister being dead. Genn didn't even go ghost through the door, just hovered outside of it… waiting.

Finally reaching the top steps, Mors quickly walked over to the wooden door that Genn was hovering over before taking a deep breath and knocking. As the loud knocks hit against the building, Mors was relieved to hear movement inside. After waiting for a few more moments, as the steps came closer, the door slowly cracked open.

The door slowly swung open, revealing a dark room that seemed to go on forever. With what seemed like a door to the deep void, More decided to wait for whoever opened the door to appear. Standing there with Genn by his side, he eventually found a head popped out from behind the door. With deadly pale skin and deep black circles under her eyes that were almost covered by her long black hair.

Feeling that she was Genn's sister, Mors quickly explained, "Hello, young lady, I was a friend of Ge—"

But before Mors could continue, Genn's sister got out from behind the door and quickly ran passed Mors. Quickly turning to look, Mors found Genn in his human form and Genn's sister standing there, trying to hug her brother. With a shocked face, Genn seemed to start having tears form in his eyes as he quickly tried to hug his sister back.

But the world was cruel as both of their hands passed through each other, but the duo didn't seem to mind as they just continued to try and hug. Finally, after a solid minute of this attempted hugging, Genn quietly asked, "Can you hear me?"

And without hesitation, the lady, who seemed to be the older sister of Genn, said, "Yes, you big idiot. Now come inside, and bring your friend."

Then with quick steps, Genn's sister entered her home again, with Genn following after her, leaving Mors outside in shock. Had she just seen a ghost? What!? How could that be! And how could she be so calm seeing her brother as a ghost? What was going on with her…. All these thoughts and more just started to spring in and around Mors's poor over-cooking brain.

Thankfully hearing Genn say, "Hurry up, Alice is waiting," brought Mors out of his head. As he walked into the home, he decided to save his questions for later. Entering the darkened room, Mors followed the glowing light that was Genn's body before he heard a candle being lit. Light started to swim into the room as the candle brightened up the dark room.

Taking a deep breath, Alice quickly looked back at the glowing Genn before asking, "So, how is it like being a ghost?"

Quickly responding to her inquiry, Genn replied, "It's been pretty good so far. I guess you now need to worry about me haunting the place with me here…."

Hearing Genn's horrible attempt at a joke, Alice started laughing. His jokes always hit a weird spot in her heart that brought out a laugh. But sadly, this time, it brought more out than usual as she quickly coughed deep red blood.

I am going to go back to my regular chapter length again... I should have enought time to write these... (I am also going to edit the last 3 chapters to not be as slow)

Anyway I am going to start going a little faster, with less details about the main character moving about, so prepare yourself.

Anyway, Have a nice day!
