Chapter 20

A week later, I was getting ready for court. Today was supposed to be huge for the town of Mokland, as the judge is going to decide if the criminals are going to be executed.

"It's ok, you'll do fine," I told myself, looking at the mirror.

I was pondering about how the court will look like this year, and if I can convince people that the criminals are bad. I mean after all, I was the main witness in the crime, and I have a lot of evidence stored in my phone.

"Penelope, you're going to be late!" Serena hollered from the kitchen.

I quickly put on a plaid skirt, along with a jean jacket that I found my closet. I have to remind Dylan to do the laundry later this week.

"Coming," I answered, as I was walking to the main foyer.

"Eat your breakfast fast, we have to go to court early," Serena ordered.

"Alright," I nodded, as I was sitting down.

I quickly ate my otherwise cold cereal, along with a glass of orange juice. As soon as I finished breakfast, I rose from my chair, and dashed to the front door.

"The car is waiting for you," Serena reminded.

"Alright, bye Serena," I waved.

"Make sure at court you speak when you're spoken too, and you give all the evidence to the judge. It is very important to do that," Serena lectured.

"Ok," I quickly nodded, before running to the car.

I opened the door, and threw myself in the passenger seat. I closed the door, and dug my hand into my purse to double-check that my phone is inside here.

The car started moving, as I was anxiously waiting to arrive at the courthouse. I looked out the window, as it looked very cloudy and dull today, to the point where there were still street lights on. I saw a couple of shops open, as the streets looked kind of quiet. I noticed a drizzle in the air, as the car continued driving on the main street. While the car was driving, I got a text from Murphy saying that she has more evidence.

Wow, I didn't know that I replied to the message with surprise.

You're not alone in this Murphy replied.

Murphy also explained that Queen Mendoza's gang was fighting against Micheal's gang. I guess that's why I never see Queen Mendoza and Micheal.

The car pulled over to the parking lot of the courthouse, as I unbuckled my seat belt.

"Hey, can you stop here?" I requested.

After the driver gave a nod, I grabbed my purse, and opened the car door. I felt a little drizzle in the air, as I was walking to the courthouse. I guess Serena didn't want me with the guards today.

As I was walking up the steps, I kept on pondering about the drama and the conflict at court. I heard the entire town is going to be present at court today, and the court session is even going to the national news. At least that's what I heard from Dylan yesterday.

I saw the door open, and there stood a middle-aged lady, smiling at me.

"You must be the famous Penelope Redwood?" The lady assumed, "Welcome!"

"Thanks," I mumbled, as I walked inside the courthouse.

"I heard you solved a very important case last week," The lady recalled.

"Yeah," I nodded agreeingly, "I recorded the criminals move."

"How long has this been happening?" The lady asked.

"About 2 weeks before the criminals were finally arrested," I answered.

We walked inside the courtroom, as I saw lawyers prepare their desks.

"You came early," Dr,Murphy said.

"Yeah, I didn't want to come at a later time since I have to deal with the paparazzi's," I chuckled.

I sat by one of the front row seats, as Murphy was discussing their court plans with the other lawyers. 30 minutes later, Serena, and my siblings arrived at the courtroom, looking very excited.

"Hey Penelope," Alex waved.

"Hi, come to the front row seats," I offered.

I led them into the front row section, as more people started pouring inside the courtroom. I also noticed a few news reporters enter the room, along with more lawyers.

The room started to get very noisy and crowded.
