Chapter 17

The next morning, everyone gathered in the living room, feeling joyous and excited.

"We did it!" Serena exclaimed in joy.

"I want to give a special thanks to Penelope for helping us solve this crime," Phoebe congratulated. "What would we do without you."

"I could be the next Dr. Murphy!" I predicted.

"You'll be a very good detective, for sure," Phoebe approved.

"Anyways," Serena announced, "I got good news yesterday that Alex is now doing better, and he is going to be in an arm cast for about 6 - 7 weeks."

"That's amazing!" I exclaimed with happiness, "I finally get to see my favorite brother."

"We are actually going to pick up Alex from the hospital later this afternoon," Serena planned.

"Phoebe, I have something to show you," I interrupted.

"Okay, can you show me now?" Phoebe asked.

"Sure," I answered, while unlocking my phone.

I opened the photos app, and tapped on the video I recorded about 2 days ago. In the video, there was the police leader demanding Serena for the money, as she was in tears.

"Oh my god, I'm - I'm sorry for not believing Serena," Phoebe apologized, looking shocked.

"Serena, that divorce was false all along," I announced.

"What, no!" Serena shook her head in disbelief, "This is not false."

"Serena, it was not your fault the police leader was rich because last night I caught the criminals that were working for the police leader," I reassured.

"I will go to Sam later this week to make a formal apology," Serena promised.

"Anyways, while Serena is busy looking for new guard members, we should go to the park," Phoebe suggested.

"Yeah, let's go," I agreed, walking towards the main door.

"I actually have to clean last night's mess, so I might not be there," Dylan informed me.

"Oh okay then, see you," I sighed.

As me and Phoebe were walking along the streets, Murphy ran towards me with excitement.

"Congratulations for solving the case!" Murphy complimented. "What would we do without you?"

"Thank you, I guess," I nervously smiled.

"Next week, we would love it if you came to the court as a witness," Murphy offered, "You're the only one with the evidence so that's fair."

"Yes, i'm interested in doing that," I smiled.

"Ok, then have a good day and see you next week," Murphy waved.

"Wow, the court is going to be all over the news since it was a life changing case for Mokland," Phoebe gawked.

"I know, and I'm probably going to get labeled as the hero since I solved this crime," I added.

For once in my life, I'm very proud of what I've accomplished for me and my town. If I didn't record evidence, or trap the criminals, Mokland wouldn't have been a better place, and the criminals would've roamed free.

"There's the hospital!" Phoebe exclaimed, while pointing to the hospital.

We dashed to the hospital to see Alex, and I've never ran so fast in my life. Alex was special to me, he was my favorite sibling. We did so much together, and I couldn't bear to see him alone in pain.

By the time we got to the lobby, Phoebe was panting, out of breath, which made it hard to understand her rambling about how we needed to see Alex urgently.

"Alex Redwood, Patient 704," the woman told us. "Room 704, Floor 3. I suggest you take the elevator."

"Thank you," Phoebe exclaimed impatiently, and rushed us to the elevator. The ride to the third floor was restless, since Phoebe was pacing back and forth. I advised her not to do that since she would get motion sickness, but Phoebe couldn't stand still.

When we got to Floor 3, Phoebe took my hand and sprinted to Room 704 like she was running a marathon. I mean, different situations, but same importance.

Phoebe practically broke the door open, and what we saw relieved both of us immensely.
