As the car pulled away from the beach, Hawk and Simione settled into the backseat. Its engine hummed as it traversed the dark city light. Inside the vehicle was dimly lit, casting soft shadows that danced across Hawk's sharp features. He turned to his wife who was leaning on the window seemingly enjoying the beauty of the city's lights.
"Did you go to Madam Ning's soup shop?" Hawk asked, his tone casual but with a hint of underlying tension.
Simione nodded, her fingers playing with the hem of her husband's coat that he had given her earlier as soon as they hopped into the car "Yes, I did. I was craving soup number four."
Hawk's eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze piercing. "Did you bring that boy there?"
Simione somehow noticed the edge of her husband's voice and so she turned to him "Yes, I did. He was hungry, and I wanted to show him the place."
