Hardly A Righteous Person

So Lanre sent into Pearl’s account the five million naira Christian had sent her for an advance payment on the job she needed to do, which is to fight for K. But the payment does not depend on the result. Whether she wins or lose, she will get paid. And she was going to do it, so she did not mind giving out the money to someone who needed it.

“You have to leave tomorrow. It’s Sunday!” Lanre said to Pearl and told her to go get Chidinma. She called for the Uber 5yat normally drives her to come take Pearl. She told Pearl Chidinma should be gone from her house before she gets home.

Just then her phone started to ring. She picked it up to check who the caller was. She frowned when she saw it was her brother, Olamide calling. She muts her phone so she would not hear it ringing. She did not feel like talking to anyone, especially not her brother. He never calls her. And if he did, it will be to scold her after her mother must have reported to him something she did wrong. “No! She is the State’s women leader. She doesn’t belong to any party. Her role is to coordinate the women to choose the right leader in an election. They are to support a promising candidate. And she is to organise the women’s activities and over see their affairs state wise. But she’s corrupt. A lot of them are. Once they get bribes from a particular party, they support it and also bribe other’s to support with them. They also embezzle funds. There is hardly a righteous person in this country now that is in politics”. Aisha said.
