Chapter 9 Marriage arrangement
Why is this happening to her right now? now that she finally finds someone to love? No! is not happening. She needs to feel what loving someone looks like, and no one is going to tell her otherwise. She will leave tomorrow to find Ken.
"Fine then, I will call Mr. Jackson to give us time. But I know that Benjamin is a good man." He said trying to make Gina change her mind.
"How do you know if a guy is a good person just because his father is a good man?" Gina asked herself rather than her father.
"Said what dear?" He asks her.
“Oh.. no! Nothing father, I'm just thinking loud”
As he was about to move closer to Gina Mr. George receive a call that required him to be there, so he ask to leave.
“Is okay father, I will see you when you come back”
“Alright". He kiss her on the forehead and left.
Mr. George met with Mr. Jackson to discuss the marriage between their son and daughter, and how they can wrap things up quickly and move on to merging the two companies.
“Time is not on our side Mr. Jackson, things need to move on fast, and if we don’t do this…”
"But is not in my hands" Mr. Jackson cut him off, you are the one holding back everything"
“But how?" Asked Mr. George.
"You are asking me how? Your daughter should have known firsthand about this arrangement but you kept it away from her.
From my investigation, she only got to know when Benjamin decides to visit her.
“Fine, is my fault she’s a woman, unlike men who can take anything I needed to take my time. But now she has accepted to marry your son".
“Thant’s good news then". Mr. Jackson got up to leave. Make the arrangements, the wedding kicks off in two weeks." He said as he walks off.
“Let’s make it four weeks, my daughter needs to prepare, she's a woman" yells Mr. George after Mr. Jackson, but Mr. Jackson didn’t hear a thing he said again because he has left already.
“I don’t blame you, you don’t have a girl that’s why you don’t know anything about women, I will not let anyone humiliates my daughter, I needed this collaboration if not you are not to be trusted" he murmured.
“If anything happens to my daughter, I will deal with you, nonsense." talking as if Mr. Jackson is still with him, but he was just talking to himself.
“No father that’s not what you said, just two weeks? No way, I would not accept that, I told you I want to get to know him not get married to him right away, that is not the planThat
"Okay, dad, I want to meet him tomorrow, can you arrange that?"
“Sure", he said with so much excitement right away". Phone in hand calling Mr. Jackson.
“Hello, yeah, she wants to get to meet Ben"
“When?" Mr. Jackson asks.
"Today "
That's lovely" he hangs up the phone.
“Yeah, everything is ready, you can go tomorrow, just be careful,"
"Why father?"
"What?"
"Why should I be careful about the family you want me to get married to; and do I have to be careful all my life?"
"No dear, that’s not what I meant".
"So what do you mean?"
"Never mind, just get ready tomorrow you will be leaving for the Jackson family"
"Of course, I will be ready dad," Gina said and walk away to her room.
Mr. George thought he has never seen his daughter this angry before. "But what can he do?" He is determined to help his daughter and the company, what needs to be done needs to be done.
And he was sure he was doing the right thing.
