"Hey, Hyung-ssi. Do you want your hand to be smashed? Or you better let go,"
"Huh! What you wanna challenge me you fucking bastard?" The confusion was evident in Hyung-ssi's response.
PANG PANG ..... PENG! A sudden impact resounded, followed by a painful scream.
"Ah! Ah! Ah! " Startled and unable to comprehend what had just happened, she closed her eyes instinctively as a large shadow fell across her face.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Park Deokgu standing there, his face stern, and Yoo Seokwoo lying on the ground, groaning in pain.
"Deok-Deok Gu-ssi?" she called out, concerned.
"Aha…" Deokgu-ssi's response held a mix of pain and frustration.
"I had no idea we had this kind of scumbag here. Alright, it's not broken, so don't be such a crybaby," Deokgu-ssi stated firmly.
"Aaaaagh…" Yoo Seokwoo's cry of pain was real, but he seemed to be exaggerating it.
In a swift motion, Deokgu-ssi's large fist cut through the air again, landing precisely on Yoo Seokwoo's head, sending him sprawling to the floor as though struck by a heavy, blunt weapon.
"Ahhhh! Uh… Uhhh…" Yoo Seokwoo's moaning continued.
"Quit pretending. I didn't even hit you that hard… Someone might think you were a wailing newborn with all the racket you're making," Deokgu-ssi taunted, clearly unimpressed.
Then, he delivered a powerful kick, propelling Yoo Seokwoo into the air and crashing him into the wall.
Fearing that the situation might escalate further, Jung Hayan intervened, "I-It's okay now, so please stop. You're going to hurt him, Deok-Deokgu-ssi."
"Ah…" Deokgu-ssi's glare toward Yoo Seokwoo held a vague sense of menace.
However, she knew she had to stop him now to prevent any further harm. Yoo Seokwoo was still hunched over and trembling on the ground, making her even more anxious.
"Don't worry too much, Noonim. All I did was give him a little shove and a kick. Well, this Hyung-ssi is just a crybaby…" Deokgu-ssi remarked, trying to downplay the situation.
But her anxiety wasn't solely due to that. She noticed some people rushing over, having heard Yoo Seokwoo's screams.
"Stop!" she called out, hoping to diffuse the situation before it got out of control.
"What are you doing? Seokwoo-ssi, are you okay?" Lee Jihye approached Seokwoo with evident concern, leading a group of onlookers.
"I-I'm fine..." Seokwoo stammered in response.
The most conspicuous figure among them was Lee Jihye, her eyes reflecting utter confusion. She questioned the unfolding scene, "Hey, what the FUCK IS going out here? Violence is highly prohibited and not even allowed on this campus!"
"The freaking pervert has tried to harass her. So I gave him a bowlful of punch! " explained Park Deokgu.
Lee Jihye turned to Seokwoo, seeking clarity, " What do you say about it? Is this the truth? "
On the other side, Seok-woo tried to defend himself, "It's... not. Of course, it might have looked misleading because I grabbed Hayan-ssi's hand... B-But he was mistaken..."
"You're still not keeping your mistake man! " Deokgu intervened.
Lee Jihye stepped in, attempting to resolve the situation diplomatically, "Alright, that's enough, Deokgu. As I said, violence is prohibited here. Even if Seokwoo-ssi did something wrong, hastily swinging your fists at someone without hearing them out first creates disharmony amongst group members. This way of doing things... is not right. Before anything else, you need to determine if anything wrong is even taking place."
Silence filled the air as Jihye turned her attention back to Seokwoo, asking him directly, "Seokwoo-ssi, did you grasp Hayan-ssi's hand to then sexually harass her?"
"N-n-n-no. A-absolutely not. I never meant to do such a thing," Seokwoo adamantly denied.
"Then what Deokgu saw..." Jihye probed.
"I-I think there was a bit of a misunderstanding. Of course, I indeed expressed my feelings towards Hayan-ssi, but I mistakenly thought that Hayan-ssi had accepted them... I-I think that's what happened," Seokwoo clarified.
"Are you Sure?" Jihye sought confirmation.
"Yeah, that is 100% sure...… R-really," Seokwoo reaffirmed.
Jihye turned her attention to Hayan, urging her to speak, "Please repeat exactly what you said."
Hayan hesitated, feeling the unfriendly stares from the others. She mustered her words, "That's true. B-but after that, Seok-Seok-Seokwoo-ssi... F-forcibly pulled my arm, and... said that if I want to have a pleasant time here... H-he spoke like that... I-I was a little surprised..."
Jihye advised gently, "Please speak properly, Hayan-ssi. I can't understand what you're saying. Take it step by step."
"S-so..." Hayan continued, "So it's true that Seokwoo-ssi said he wanted to get closer to me, and I agreed?"
"Sorry? Yes... B-but I didn't know what he meant... I-I didn't know..." Hayan responded.
"I asked whether it's true," Jihye pressed for a clear answer.
"I-it's true. B-but..." Hayan struggled to explain.
"Excuse me, Hayan-ssi," Jihye interjected, "So isn't it Hayan-ssi who acted misleadingly and allowed this situation to develop? Come to think of it, you've been hanging out with Seokwoo-ssi ever since you came here. Am I wrong?"
"That's true, but... It was always... Seok-Seokwoo-ssi who approached first..." Hayan tried to clarify.
Jihye addressed the issue, "This is what happens when your behavior is problematic."
"No... Well, that's..." Hayan attempted to defend herself.
"Do you think it is acceptable to create this type of misunderstanding and then back down like that? The same goes for Deokgu. I can't believe you hit a person without even considering the actual situation..." Jihye looked at Park Deokgu, noting a tinge of confusion on his face.
"What is happening here?" I already knew the answer.
It was a situation I could easily decipher. I anticipated something would occur sooner or later, but this exceeded my expectations. I never imagined they would launch such a vehement offensive, filled with accusations. Park Deokgu appeared embarrassed, on the verge of tears.
Meanwhile, Jung Hayan wept profusely. Justice held no place in this scenario. The assailant and victim were apparent at first glance.
Though I wasn't concerned about whether Jung Hayan had indeed tried to take advantage of Yoo Seokwoo, her predicament was undeniably significant.
As I arrived, Lee Jihye was the first to speak. "It's good to see you, Kee Miyoung. Presently…!"
"Are you out of your mind?"
"Sorry?" "Jihye-ssi, have you lost your senses?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you believe this is some kind of local playground? Do you think no one will hear your uproar? Just because we leave the shelter regularly to clear the outside doesn't mean we ignore internal matters."
She seemed to realize her mistake. "Ah… So the situation right now is…"
"I saw it from afar, so I have a rough idea of what's going on, Jihye-ssi. As you mentioned, in a situation like this, where the assailant and victim are not identified, even I would feel threatened if cornered by a group like this. But what's the situation now?"
"But that woman is clearly at fault…"
"Jihye-ssi, can you say with certainty that Seokwoo-ssi is entirely innocent?" I was pretty sure she couldn't. If she dared to utter those words, the responsibility would fall on her, not Yoo Seokwoo.
Thus, she hesitated, displaying an anxious and flustered demeanor.
"Moreover, judging from Hayan-ssi's reaction, I don't believe that's the case... But, most importantly, Hayan-ssi isn't that kind of person. I can assure you of that."
My 'assurance' was exaggerated, completely baseless. At that moment, I was merely speaking nonsense.
Jung Hayan, feeling undeserving of such trouble, likely felt highly grateful for my defense. However, others wouldn't share the same sentiment.
When on Earth did I get to know her well enough to vouch for her? Apart from her Pure Advocate disposition, there was no other reason for me to stand up for her.
In reality, there were many points worth mentioning. Firstly, it was wrong to question the victim, especially in a case of sexual harassment.
Lee Jihye, being a woman herself, couldn't possibly be unaware of this.
Her support for Yoo Seokwoo was likely aimed at excluding outsiders and consolidating her power. Or perhaps she intended to torment Jung Hayan from the beginning.
I wouldn't mind refuting her logic, but asserting my position would be equally effective in this instance. No, not 'equally effective.' Because... 'I'm in control.' I wielded the power here.
What I meant was that my authority carried more weight than anyone else's. "Hayan-ssi doesn't deserve this."
"Ah... that..." There was a stark contrast between Jung Hayan, wiping her tears while looking at me, and those who glared at her with hostility. In their minds, this was likely an unjustifiable situation.
A sudden intruder, forcing them to relinquish their pursuit, while showing apparent favoritism to one individual.
Of course, I wouldn't be the one they hated.
My gaze shifted to Jung Hayan. A woman favored by the powerful. She would inevitably become the target of hatred, bearing the brunt of everyone else's dissatisfaction. Especially from someone like Lee Jihye.
"Everyone's still standing around... Yoo Seokwoo-ssi needs medical attention. But after that, I'll ask him to explain the situation in detail again. For now, let's move Seokwoo-ssi."
"Yes, sir."
"Jihye-ssi, please clean up this area quickly, so you can resume your daily activities. It will soon be time for Hyunsung-ssi to return. Monsters may start appearing at any moment, so Deokgu, please patrol the surrounding area."
"Alright, Hyung-nim."
"Also... Hayan-ssi, I'd like to talk to you for a moment."
"Yes."
Some people whispered Lee Jihye bit her lip, and Yoo Seokwoo appeared uneasy. I could discern their thoughts. I caught fragments of their words, but no one openly opposed my actions.
"What... that woman." "Bitch."
There was someone else who made for a much better 'prey' than me, after all. "Come with me." "Ah... yes." Rather than confronting someone powerful, it was easier to deal with the vulnerable ones.
