Chapter 22 Battle of Green Fork

Third person pov

While the Lannisters forces were marching at full speed towards their foes, the Northern forces led by Jon Snow were taking their time, not in a hurry making sure they have proper ground

A few hours after dawn the two armies finally came face to face, the lannisters forces led by Tywin lannister and the Stark forces led by Jon snow, while Jon snow was at very forefront of the army leading the vanguard Tywin lannister was in the rear with the reserves

As the two armies came together one can clearly see the difference in numbers, the stark forces were in a straight column with Calvary in front and the footmen and archers in the back, the lannisters were spread out with left flank, right flank, center in the middle and reserves in the back

As both forces are facing in plain ground any veteran commander can see that the lannisters will defeat the stark forces by flanking them from both sides

As the war horns and drums started to go on the battle started with vigor, the lannister left flank charged toward their foes but the Northern armies started to move back, seeing the enemies retreating the lannisters men charged with renewed vigor and the right flank also joined the charge to reinforce the left side

The lannisters forces thought this will be easy victory as they were attacking retreating men from the back, but when the Northern forces stopped that's when the whole battle changed

As the lannisters were charging with a loud battle cry 100 15ft tall giants attacked from both sides, 50 from the left and 50 from the right, these giants were fully armoured and carried huge war hammers, large sworss, axes etc, the giants were at full charge running faster than horses with no intention of stopping

These giants charged right into their men, going through lannisters forces like wrecking balls, no line of defence could even stand for a second, even when the charge stopped the giants didn't stand still they were always moving and decimating anybody in front of them

This carnage made the lannisters forces fall in chaos, but on the other side the Northern forces were completely disciplined, the Northern cavalry came charging on unprepared lannisters men

They were led by Jon snow in his black armour wielding a giant war hammer and his white direwolf,the charge completely destroyed any focrces in their way, the Northern armies were attacking anyone trying to reform the lannisters forces

Seeing this carnage the centre tried to reinforce but behind the charging hundred giant came hundred archer giants, they with their large bows and arrows were like moving ballistas, each arrow would go through 8 men and still went ahead

All of this put the lannisters forces in complete chaos and the Northern forces with their uniform charge were destroying them, the lannisters were trying to scatter and flee, seeing this the reserves instead of helping retreated with whatever men they can

Seeing them retreat the lannisters forces lost all hope and just tried to run away, even with that the Northern forces were chasing down and capturing the main Bannermen of lannisters

After a while the battle was finally over, many were killed, many were taken prisoners and many fled, today's battle was a decisive victory for the Northern forces

Among the many lannister Bannermen captured, among them the most important was Kevan Lannister tywin's brother and his right hand man, of the 30,000 lannisters came today only 7,000 were able to retreat, others were scattered or killed or captured

After the victory the moral of Northern forces was high, they were celebrating and having a feast, while lannisters nearly lost their entire army the loss on the their side were lowest they have ever seen

Jon pov

The battle went better than I thought the lannisters got greedy at the sight of retreating army and over played their charge and fell right into my trap

The real suprise was the giants, I thought I understood what a giant could do in battle but I was wrong, they were flinging several men with a single blow, they became a killing machine in the battle, even though the giants charged right into the lannisters forces they were only superficially wounded with no casualties

I suppose this due to in part from the training of the children of the forest and the giants never standing still in battle, due to running around they never became the target

But that not all today I just talked to Robb with glass candle,they also had a huge victory in whispering woods, they cut down lannisters men and Jaime Lannister was captured

When the battle was lost than Jaime tried to kill Robb but was stopped by Ser Brianne where they fought to a draw and Sandor manage to knock him down from behind

With Kevan here and Jaime captured there things couldn't get any better, the only good thing I can think of is capturing Tywin but the old bastard only stayed in rear

Now Robb will go to break the siege in Riverrun and I will take ghost and 2,000 men to chase after the lannisters men that fled, I have to make sure they don't regroup again

The remaining northern army will stay here and wait for the 20,000 Knights of the vale coming from Eyrie, as soon as Lysa died Alys called her banners and is sending help to us

But they are not coming alone, my uncle and Sansa and their men are coming with them, it took a lot longer than I thought for them to get out of kingslanding landing so I told them to go to vale instead of the north

Renly has declared himself a king with tyrells and Stannis will call his banners soon, but these two are not going to be a problem but Tywin can be

Tywin will most likely head to harrenhal, that's the only place he can defend with numbers stacked against him
