Thread of Fate: Part One

Esme sat at the little white, rounded garden table with matching metallic chairs, all painted to a vintage finish. She looked at her surroundings again, enjoying the change of scenery. She was accustomed to city life and, of course, running from village and towns, but it had been almost two years since she'd been by the sea. The warmth from the sun's rays made her close her eyes, and her lips twitch unconsciously into a small smile.

The she-wolf didn't know where this place was, but the sun and sound of the waves crashing into the shore soothed her. It shouldn't, not really considering her past, but she could never deny the beauty of such a world. Yet, the approaching footsteps were about to disturb what little repose Esme had just gained. She frowned and opened her eyes at the scraping of the opposite chair being pulled away from the table.
