The Highborn

056 walked up to the man and sneered at his back. "You're talking as if you're not one of those snobby highborns yourself," she remarked, her sapphire eyes flashing with something.

The man laughed, the glow in his eyes intensifying. "But this...this is simply splendid!" he exclaimed, walking closer to the highborn who was sprawled against the wall. His teeth looked dangerous as he grinned at the boy on the floor. He bent down and grabbed the boy by his neck, licking it with delight on his face.

Dori stood at the back, her expression indifferent as she was accustomed to seeing scenes like this play out before her. "I did my part. Where's Lila?" she asked.

The man dropped the unconscious boy back on the floor carelessly and turned around to look at Dori, the intoxicated look on his face still present. "I'll give you your plaything, don't interrupt me."

Dori shrugged. "Oh, I won't interrupt you, but I don't think the rogues will entertain the majesty of your aura for much longer," she said. "And I don't intend to turn into some mindless rogue's afternoon snack."

"Or whatever the time is," she added silently.

"You should keep quiet sometimes, 056. Come to think of it, I never really understood any of you blue bloods," He chuckled, his sonorous laughter covering the sounds of distant shrieks and machinery humming in the background.

"You all seem so fearless, so daunting. Any other low-ranking blood would be shaking, to even talk with a highborn like myself."

"Highborn or not, you're 071 and I'm 056. That says more, doesn't it? Mister Red Blood."

"These numbers are not a reflection of your present strength, they never were." He smiled, seeming to enjoy the confusion on Doris' face.

"And after I eat this gold-blood, nothing will matter anymore." He said, his smiling gaze reflecting the unconscious boy on the floor.

'Then I can get out of this hellhole.' He thought to himself.

Dori stared at him, her eyes glittering as she sank into her thoughts.

'Do I really need to eat someone else?' She thought, the unease sending chills down her spine.

Shrieks that sounded like broken records playing in sync echoed around the hallway, The red-eyed man's smile quickly turning into a scowl.

"You shouldn't scowl, it makes you look hideous." Dori laughed as she quickly blended into the shadows, her presence quickly fading away.

The rogues rushed into the hall he was in with breakneck speed, the shrill voices of the rogues ringing in his ear.

He gritted his teeth and shot forward, quickly vanishing from the spot he was in. He reappeared, his blank expression changing into something more animated.

He was excited.

His already high pulse shot up even further, his silhouette disappearing only to appear with his hand inside the chest of an unlucky rogue. He vanished again, his red eyes darting around searching for his next target.

He reappeared again, his eyes looking more dangerous than beautiful, his hand covered in blood. He stuck a finger in his mouth as he licked the blood off it, his back arched in pleasure.

He stopped for a second, looking at a drop of blood with what looked like a green sheen on it before quickly dissipating.

His silhouette disappeared again before the chest of the rogues burst out in a cloud of blood, dropping like flies while running toward the unconscious boy.

He grabbed the head of a green-eyed rogue, its tongue flailing about as it desperately licked his skin, trying to get a bite.

"Useless failures." He sneered before he elegantly threw its head into the metallic rails above him with a blur, its head turning into meat paste.

'The thrill..' His dilated eyes took in the carnage he had caused, the stench of blood wafting into his nose, making his eyes mist over in euphoria.

"The gold-blood belongs to me!" He screamed with his eyes bloodshot, lips curled up wildly with red tendrils of energy coming out of his body. The vents above started to shake from the energy around it, drawing more rogues near.

Dori maintained her invisibility, her gaze trained on 071 as he rampaged around, shooting his hand into any rogue that happened to fall into his line of sight.

'Unsightly.' She thought, but she knew better than to voice out her thoughts and make him turn her into a human-shaped donut.

She turned her eyes to the unconscious boy at the end of the hallway, greed flashing through her eyes as she clenched her fist, seemingly in a struggle.

The teen lay there, with his eyes shut, his appearance seeming so innocent and beautiful to be surrounded by such gore and blood, creating a contrast with the scene that was in front of him.

With her gaze steeled, she dashed towards the boy lying on the ground, her lithe figure emerging from the shadows as she extended her hand, a blue aura enveloping her fingers.

071 spun around, detecting her presence. His deranged expression morphed into something more sinister and emotionless. "Don't do something you'll regret," he warned.

Ignoring him, she grasped the boy's hand, and the blue aura quickly spread throughout his body. As she turned to face 071, he spat out a bone, his bloodied lips curling into a menacing smile.

He mouthed to her, "The rogues will have fun with her." Her eyes widened in alarm as she stared at the charming but blood-streaked man.

Her blue eyes radiated with intense brightness. Dori and the boy vanished, leaving behind wisps of blue energy. Meanwhile, 071 was left to deal with the approaching rogues. "You're still mine," he muttered to himself, his handsome face adorned with a beguiling grin.

Dori and the boy reappeared in another hallway, suspended in the air by tendrils of energy before crashing to the ground with a thud.

"Fuck." She groaned, her breath heavy from the toll of having to teleport with someone else, a gold-blood at that.

She pushed herself up, picked him up, quickly vanishing into the never-ending maze that was the hallways, afraid that her streak of bad luck would continue and she would meet another red-blood who would want a taste of an unresisting gold-blood.

The chances of that were low anyway.

She appeared again, her hand almost pushing a bathroom door off its hinges, the whites of her eyes appearing bloodshot as she gently laid the boy on the ground, scared that she would wake him up.

She stood there for a while, staring at his beautiful face as she struggled to make a decision, her gaze hesitant as she pushed his neck to the side.

The allure of his neck started to pull her, her steps becoming shaky as she couldn't resist the thought of sinking her teeth in them.

Her teeth sharpened themselves, almost like they had been waiting for this to happen. She bent down as she bit into his skin.

At least, she tried to.

She bit harder, getting a bit impatient as she couldn't push her teeth into his skin. The pressure on his neck increased as she furrowed her brows and cocked her neck, pushing her face into his nape.

"Why won't you let me eat you?" She muttered under her breath as she stopped trying to be sneaky, grabbing his body as she raised it like a rag, and pushed him against the bathroom walls as she bit harder, her eyes glowing even brighter.

<The audacity of this bitch.>

"Too soon," she hissed.
