Chapter 38

At first, Adair was trying to separate all the different languages at once, and while this was pretty easy to do for a couple of the languages, such as the ones that used completely different lettering and for the language that she already knew for the remaining languages, it was not useful at all.

She was also having a bit of trouble remembering every single word that she and the dark blue tree went over. She was also pretty sure that the tree did not teach her every word. Even if it taught her almost everything, there were still going to be some words that it didn't teach her because there just wasn't a point to it. And when it came to these words, while Adair could guess if they were in the language that was taught to her, she did not really have any idea.

She also ran into the problem of having several of the same word or what at least appeared to be the same word on the flashcards, but she did not really know if these words were meant for one of the other languages or if the same spelling of the word had different meanings in the same language.

Adair also knew that she had a major problem ahead of her when the definition of the words on the flashcards was in the same language as the word itself. While she believed that she probably could work out what each word meant eventually by reading the back of the flashcards and reverse-engineering the meaning of the language, she really did not want to do this because of the amount of time it would take to accomplish this for one language let alone for the rest was something that Adair did not want to think about.

After spending an hour trying to organize each language into its own pile, she decided that that was not working at all, so she decided on at first getting every word for the language she already knew in one pile, and once she did that, she hoped that it would make it easier to organize the other cards.

Another hour in, though, and while she wanted to continue, her wrists hurt way too much to continue, which was something that Adair did not expect to happen. But thinking about it, it made sense since she had not used her hands for barely anything so far except opening milk bottles and holding a walking stick, so them being tired after about two hours of use made sense.

So since her wrists were hurting, she did not want to over-exercise them and hurt them, so she decided to take a break and hopefully find some food since her stomach was starting to growl. So she stood up and left the room, and when she left the room, she entered a hallway that led in a few different directions to her right. It looked like a theater of sorts with a stage and chairs sitting about.

And to her left, she noticed that the art gallery she saw earlier when she entered the house. And lastly, if she walked forward, it was the room that she fell asleep in. She had remembered that she saw a dining room and hoped that the dining room was similar to the dining rooms back in the Galactic Empire and that a Kitchen was attached to it.

So she went through the gallery, which had some unique artwork and sculptures, but she did not pay too close attention to them and said to herself that she would inspect them later. She then walked into the Grand foyer and into the dining room, which to her dismay, did not seem to have a kitchen attached.

She did notice that there was a thin crystal swing door though at the far end of the right of the room, and she hoped that maybe this door led to the kitchen. She appeared to be in luck because when she pushed the door open, she could smell food cooking, but unfortunately, when she tried to enter through the door, her wings got caught on the sides of the door, and she could not enter.

She tried turning sideways, but when she did, she noticed that someone was standing on the other side of the door looking at her. Adair quickly backed away and was tempted to just run back into the classroom because her impression of the workers in this house was not too good at the moment, and she already had enough on her plate and did not want to learn how to cook a whole bunch of different things as well as learn a whole bunch of new languages.

The person then pushed the door open, and somehow the door became larger for him, and it shrunk again after he exited the door. As Adair looked at this man, she wondered if he was human or if he was some other species because she did not know how someone from the human race could be so big.

The man was easily over seven feet tall and five feet across in the stomach area. Each of his legs was also twice as big as Adair, so to say that the man towered over Adair would be an understatement. The man also had an air of authority around him which is the reason why she did not run away as soon as the man exited the door.

The man then got on one knee, which was still significantly taller than Adair but it was more her height, and he said in a booming voice, "Goddess Anahel said there would be a guest staying here, but I did not expect someone as cute as you to be staying here." Adair did not know how to respond since she did not know how to speak yet but after about 30 seconds of Adair not answering, stomach decided to answer for her and growl as if answering for Adair's silence.

The man then said, "I see we have a quiet one here, but at least your tummy is loud enough to give an answer." and as he said this, he poked her stomach with one of his big fingers. He then said, "I will bring something right up for you, darling." and with that, he went back through the crystal door.

Adair did not know what to say or even how to react when the man touched her stomach. Shockingly his touch was very soft, but his fingers seemed very rough as if he had been working on them for a long time. Adair didn't know if she should even stay for her food because if she had to pay for the food, she did not have anything to pay with.

She didn't even know what was used for payment. She was really hungry, though, and the man seemed nice enough, so hopefully, even if she did have to pay, all she would have to do was wash dishes or something like that.

So she decided to sit down at the table and contemplated the conversation that had just happened and realized that it seemed like, based on the man's words, that she was a guest here and that she should be helped as if she were a guest. If this was the case, she might not have to pay, which was a giant plus in her book.

Just a few minutes after Adair had sat down, the man came back, but this time with a giant pot of food that smelled amazing. The man then sat the pot of food on the table and started going into the spiel of what the food was by saying, "Today's entry is the meat from golden yeti with a broth made from ruby tola, markets, and seeds from a…" but he quickly stopped speaking when he noticed that Adair was not paying attention to what he was saying at all and just looking at the pot with a longing look.

He also noticed that Adair did not have any dishes or utensils in front of her, so he quickly got Adair's attention and asked her if she knew how to use the interface on the table. Adair shook her head no, and that is when he put his full hand on the table, and Adair copied him. He then told Adair to send some of her energy to the table. Adair did not quite know what he was talking about, so she watched him, and it appeared that the man's hand lit up briefly, and then an interface very similar to a galactic empire interface appeared on the table around his hand.

At first, Adair was shocked that something like this appeared on the table, but she guessed that she had already seen similar technology back in the black-winged pyramids, so it shouldn't come as a shock that other devices had this use either. The problem was she didn't know how to make her hand light up.
