The Flow of Time is Broken

Things are not unfolding the way they should. Someone or something is messing with the very fabric of time itself. Events that were never meant to occur are now happening. People who were destined to die remain alive, while others meant to live now find themselves dead. The natural order has been disrupted. Destinies are being rewritten in ways they were not supposed to. Time itself appears to be malfunctioning, causing ripples that violate the way events were originally fated to play out. The rules that govern what is and isn't possible no longer apply. Reality as it was once understood has been thrown into chaos. P.S. - 1: Chapter names are inspiration from th great manga 'Gintama'. Holy fuck it rhymes =============================================================== P.S. - 2: This is a story that I had in mind for past couple of years but because of many things could never put forward but now I might finish it with you guys. There are few stuff that you should know before jumping into it, for first my inspiration for this book is ASOIAF, Kingkiller Chronicles and Malazan empire. Another thing is there is no thing such as plot armr. Last thing to know is that this is story of whole world, so we will not be following a fixed character but keep changing POV. Each volume will take up to a new place where the story will start from the beginning, for example the first volume will set up a big event which will then be addressed later in second volume near the end, third volume will pick up from somewhere in First volume and join in the big event near the end something like this. The world I have in mind have total of five continents and each of this continent share a different world, so each continent will have a different magic system, different culture, different beliefs, different mindsets of people. Later it will be explained why is that.

Chapter 39

Acrid smoke hung in the air over the pirate encampment, intermingling with the salted tang of the sea. Amid the chaos of Samuel's horde fortifying their foothold, an eerie calm pervaded the makeshift training grounds.

In the center of the rudimentary sparring ring, the blind boy circled warily. His bare feet traced grooves in the packed sand as he moved with an unsettling, predatory grace utterly at odds with his sightless condition.

Across from him stood the towering pirate Marak, a cruel smirk twisting his scarred features. The massive warrior's curved falchion glinted menacingly as he advanced with measured, heavy steps.

"Your other senses are improving, whelp," Marak sneered. "But until you can anticipate this..." With a sudden explosive burst of movement, Marak launched himself forward, his blade streaking in a blistering horizontal arc. Most would never have perceived the strike in time. But boy was no longer encumbered by mere sight.

With an almost contemptuous flick of his wrist, the youth's own slender sword whipped up to slam against Marak's falchion, deflecting the bigger blade with a resonating clang. He seemed to flow around the heavier pirate's attack, his footwork enabling him to avoid the crushing momentum entirely.

The two combatants separated, reassessing. Marak's smirk had turned into a glower of begrudging respect - the boy was indeed learning with almost supernatural alacrity. At the edge of the ring, the Pirate King Samuel watched the spectacle with unknown emotions.

"You see, my dear Dame?" Samuel chuckled, his voice carrying despite the clangs of steel. "This one has embraced his gift."

The king's words dripped with sinister promise. Dame said nothing, merely giving a fractional nod of acknowledgement as Marak launched another furious assault that Boyagilely weathered.

After several more bouts, Samuel raised his voice to commanding the duo to halt, halting the sparring session. Sweat streamed down boy's bare torso, his chest heaving with exertion. But his sightless gaze remained locked in Samuel's direction, awaiting further instruction.

Waving a hand, Samuel beckoned over one of his milling crewmen - a burlier, scarred pirate cradling a vicious boarding axe.

"You there," the king barked. "Enter the ring. I wish to test our blind whelp's progress."

The crewman's single eye widened in surprise, but he knew better than to question one of Samuel's orders directly. Shooting Boya feral grin, the pirate stomped over and hefted his axe meaningfully.

"To the death?" he growled at the king.

Samuel's thin lips parted in an oily smile. "To the death," he decreed with relish. "If our young buckiner survives, he may remain among us a while longer."

With a deferential nod, the crewman turned and adopted a fighting crouch, his axe trailing arcs in the sand in preparation for a deadly serious bout. Boy simply stood impassive, holding his sword loosely at his side.

Sparing one final glance at the Pirate King, the crewman bellowed a warcry and charged, his axe raised for a skull-crushing overhand strike. All around the makeshift ring, other pirates gathered to eagerly watch Samuel's cruel spectacle unfold. These were the darkest dregs of the high seas - held captive only by their fanatical loyalty to their king's vision of conquest. For them, moments like these were mere entertainment. Samuel threw back his head and laughed - a deep, bone-chilling sound utterly devoid of mirth or humanity.

The battle began with the burly pirate charging at Boy, bellowing a guttural war cry as he raised his vicious axe high overhead. To any onlooker, the youth seemed hopelessly outmatched and exposed against such a brutal assault. But Boy's other senses operated on a plane far beyond mere sight.

As the axe arced downward with devastating force, Boy's blade whipped up to deflect it aside with a resounding clang. He seemed to flow around the larger man's swinging momentum, his bare feet tracing intricate patterns in the sand.

The pirate recovered quickly, adopting a combat crouch as he renewed his attack with a flurry of powerful overhand chops. To his shocked frustration, Boy's sword was always there to meet each strike, the metallic ring of steel filling the air.

Growing desperate, the pirate pressed his assault, raining frenzied blows from every angle in hopes of shattering the blind boy's defenses. But Boy fought with a preternatural spatial awareness, his other senses heightened to a razor's edge.

He not only heard the whistle of each axe swing, but felt the vibrations in the earth and tasted the currents of displaced air. The pirate's grunts of exertion and the subtle shifts in his footing telegraphed his intentions like a beacon.

When the briefest opening presented itself, Boy went on the offensive. Pivoting with blinding speed, he hammered the flat of his blade against the pirate's wrist with bone-jarring force. The axe clattered uselessly into the sand as the man cried out in stunned pain.

Not allowing his foe to recover, Boy flowed into the bigger man's guard, his sword blurring in a blistering patterns of feints and slashes. Forced utterly onto the defensive, the pirate back-pedaled furiously under the onslaught, his earlier bravado forgotten.

It was over in a matter of heartbeats. With a deft flick, Boy's sword shrilled against the pirate's face, opening a deep gash across his cheek. As the man instinctively recoiled, the blind warrior stepped inside his faltering defense and snapped out a vicious kick.

The pirate went down in an unceremonious heap, clutching at his ruined face as blood streamed between his fingers. Boy stood impassively above him, chest heaving yet utterly in control, his sightless gaze unblinking.

In the ensuing silence, the Pirate King Samuel slowly clapped his hands in a mocking ovation. Boy betrayed no reaction, merely awaiting further judgement like an obedient hound.

"Well struck, whelp!" Samuel crowed with dark delight. "You've learned to leverage your limitations into profound strength." The king beckoned two of his men over to haul away the groaning, defeated pirate. As they did so, Samuel fixed Boy with an appraising look.
