Lumina briskly strode down a bustling corridor, weaving through mingling students. Her eyes scanned the crowd with a predatory gaze, searching for her target. A mischievous smile played on her lips as a realization struck her: she had nearly set the classroom on fire and gotten away with it.
Upon reflection, Lumina found it not that weird, considering her young age and the unintentional nature of the accident.
'There were explosions even without me... my was just a little bit more extreme.'
As she walked down the corridor, she could hear all the whispers, her sensitive ears picking them all. She could feel their fear, bringing a trickle of the juicy negative energy with it.
"I heard she used dark magic during her second class..."
"She's a dark witch."
Even though she liked that power and wanted more, she also felt lonely. She thought she got used to it, but she didn't.
'At least my father will be here, always.'
Finally, her gaze landed on her target, and her smile widened. She smoothed her skirt, straightened her posture, and put on her most charming smile.
'Time to feast.'
Next to the wall of the bustling hallway, a single red-headed boy, Ron, was standing all alone. Lumina's heart jumped and her eyes gleamed as she saw her opportunity for the second part of her plan.
'Alone and dumb, just waiting for me to finish what I started in transfiguration class.'
With a smile on their face and brisk step, she walked straight to him, "Hello."
He turned and glared at her, his eyes and expression showing how displeased he was.
"What do you want? Wasn't it enough to turn us into clowns before the entire class?"
"Do you want gold?"
He froze in surprise as if he became stated. How the next second his face turned almost as red as his air out of anger, "What? Have you come to make fun of me?!"
She cleared her throat, and her expression turned into that of pity and regret, "No, I am serious. Do you want money? As compensation for my previous actions. I didn't mean it... it was just a small prank."
"I don't need your charity."
'Predictable...' She has read the books and all the main characters were like open books to her. She felt like she knew them even more than their families.
"What charity? I am talking about fair compensation."
"What no..."
"Do you want that gold, or don't? If, yes, please sign this." She opened her textbook, the already prepared contract waiting to be signed.
The boy turned silent as if contemplating.
POV Ron:
I stared seriously at the dark-haired girl before me, a shiver running down my spine. There was something unsettling about her, something I couldn't quite put my finger on. Her dark, innocent-looking eyes held a hint of darkness that lurked behind her facade.
Shaking my head, I couldn't bring myself to accept what seemed like charity.
His family was poor, but he had his pride and they were managing it.
However, he couldn't stop thinking about the offer, 'She said it herself... it isn't charity. It is compensation. I could use—no, my family could use some extra funds.'
"What is on that paper?" Still, with a questioning look, he pointed at the paper she held, something about the entire situation being off.
"Just a single agreement, that you were compensated."
She was smiling at him, holding the pen and the agreement. With a slight gleam in his eyes, he reached toward the pen.
'Yes, I am just taking my just compensation. She got her own house... she must be swimming in galleons.'
Just as his hand was only a few inches from the pen, the girl suddenly took a step back and his hand grabbed only air.
"Wait!"
"I knew it, you were just taunting me!" His anger swelled up, his hand already clenching into a fist, 'If she wasn't a girl...'
"No, I wouldn't..." Her smile was sweet and her face was like that of a fairy, but something in that sweet voice sent another wave of shivers down his spine.
She continued, "Maybe, I can offer you more.", her hand pointed at a Slytherin student laughing furthermore down the hallway, "You see... he said me something wrong." Tears formed in the corners of her eyes, his heart almost melting and forgetting her small prank.
'Well, she didn't do that much, anyway...'
"You see, I am just weak and small. On the other hand, you look so strong. Ehhmm, could you be my gentleman and punch him in my place?"
"Ehhm, I don't know, that would be breaking..."
"Come on, we can't let him go. Just look at his arrogant face. He despises us both and thinks he is better.", the tears in her eyes grew even larger, her face trembling as if she was going to start crying at any second, "Just one punch, to show him he shouldn't mess with us... I will compensate you for your effort."
Ron intently stared at the Slytherin who arrogantly laughed, 'Arrogant, rich prick.'
He could no longer handle it, "I will, but we better sign that contract so you will not wriggle out of paying!"
He wasn't stupid, he wouldn't act before knowing he wasn't tricked, 'Hehe, I will not let you cheat me!'
