Chapter 1
A long time ago in a famous kingdom there lived a king and a queen who ruled their kingdom with justice and equality. Everyone in the kingdom was living very happily except the royal family due to the inability of the queen to produce a heir for the throne. But after a lots of difficulties and problems the queen gave birth to her first son after 10 years. The prayers of the kingdom were answered that day with the birth of the crown prince. The king and the queen had done all and everything they could do in the last 10 years so that they could have a child. They had just found happiness after the birth of their son. The king was named as Wang Jeong. The whole kingdom was celebrating the birth of their future king. All the people in the kingdom were happy except the ones who wanted the king to be dethroned earlier for not being able to produce a heir to the throne. The crown prince was welcomed with lot of happiness and blessings from all over the kingdom.
Years were passing by fast and the crown prince became 7 years old. The crown prince was the exact reflection of the king and queen in every quality. Everyone in the palace believed that he would rule the kingdom just as his parents ruled with justice and equality. The king and the queen were very happy seeing their son growing up with the right teachings and with the right personality. On the birthday of the queen, the king had arranged a very big feast for all the nobles in the kingdom but on the night before the feast the palace was attacked by a few assassins'. They killed the king first while he was asleep in his cambers and were then headed to kill the queen and the crown prince. As soon as the queen was alerted about the assassins and the death of the king she ordered general Oh Soon Hwae to take the crown prince away from the palace and do not return until she commands.
The general followed the queen's orders and ran away with the 7 year old crown prince without anyone's knowledge leaving the queen with the guards to protect her. The queen was safe and the throne was secured too as the crown prince was to be the king now. Even when all the things were settled down after the attack the queen did not command the general to return with the crown prince. She declared that the crown prince(now king) will stay in hiding and train for being a better king as it was the only way to protect him from the enemies. The queen decided to rule the kingdom on her own until the real king returns. The general kept on raising the king secretly and training him in archery, swordsmanship and for any other difficulties which could harm him. The king grew up knowing his responsibilities and became a very good person. The king and the general would always travel around the kingdom so that Wang Jeong understood the pain of the people and knew more about them by watching them closely.
As the king grows up he waits for the queen to cede her power and return the throne to him but the queen always keeps on insisting that he is not ready for the responsibilities and might fail to protect himself from the dirty politics of the palace. The king then himself decides to go to the capital city and examine the conditions over there. The king and the general departed from their current location and set of to go to the capital.
