Chapter 6 - The Banquet

At a top of a small hill in the Emerald City, a large villa was decorated.

The evening rays of the sun was falling on this villa, which make the villa look heavenly.

Many people can be seen going in and out of this villa.

Today was the day that the Emerson family held a banquet for one of the top families of the Emerald City - The White Family.

Emerson Family and White Family had some business deals with each other but this banquet is for Emerson family and White Family cooperation on a big project.

People were dressed well for this event.

There were many important and some big figures who were here attending this banquet.

Soon a car came to the front gate of the villa.

The car's door open and a handsome young man wearing a formal black outfit with his hair slicked back came out.

Many girls and some older women had only one thought in their mind " Who is this handsome man?"

The handsome young man, Alex came to the other side of the door and opened it.

A women looking like a fairy descended from heaven came out of the door.

Alex held out his hand and his hand was grasped by Clara who walked out of the car under the eyes of the crowd who was mesmerized by her beauty.

[A.N: I know simps, right]

Alex opened the car door and waited for Clara who came out and held his arm in an intimate way.

As for opening the door for Gina, Alex didn't care. She has hands she can use them.

Gina also came out of the car, her eyes pointing daggers at Alex. She was silent most of the way. Alex's words still lingered in her mind. Her heart was feeling anxious but she still didn't act on it thinking Alex will be put in his place in the banquet.

Alex and Clara walked inside the villa.

As they walked inside, Alex saw whole interior was beautifully decorated with tables and chairs having many people already arrived and seated there.

"Oh looks like our heroine finally arrived" a voice sounded in Alex's ear as he was looking around.

Hearing this voice Clara frowned but her expression recovered quickly.

This didn't go unnoticed by Alex who saw a overweight average looking woman with black hair tied in a bun coming towards them. She had a short height barely reaching Alex's chest.

Seeing her Alex asked Clara "Who is this creature ?"

"She is Karen, my 2nd uncle only daughter. She's spoiled being the only child and thinks that the world revolve around her. If someone didn't agree with her she will annoy him to death by only talking. Also she's don't like hearing about her weight and height" Clara said.

Karen came in front of Clara and said to her "I heard we get the project because of you seducing young master White. I don't know what he sees in you. Wait till he sees me and fall for my charm."

"It talks" Alex blurted out.

Karen turned towards Alex and said "Oya Oya this trash also came."

Hearing this Clara voice turned cold as she said "Karen he is my husband. Don't talk to him like that."

Seeing this scene Gina interrupted and said "Let's all sit down and Karen greet your parents for me."

Karen respond with a nod and left staring daggers at Clara and Alex.

She was always jealous of Clara because of her beauty and her being independent and good at work.

She likes to look down on others and doesn't like the look in Clara's eyes every time they met.

So she also started venting her frustration on Alex who was ill at that time.

As she left, she heard a whisper in her ears "Watch where you walk when you go outside cause nobody's likes a Karen."

She was startled and looked around and didn't find anyone.

She thought that she was hearing things and left to sit with her friends.

Soon Alex and Clara came towards two elderly people who looks had smiles on their faces as they heard the compliments thrown at them.

They were Grandpa and Grandma Emerson the head of the family.

They were happy on getting their hands on a big project and working with a top family.

"Greeting Grandpa, Grandma" Clara greeted them.

"Oh Clara you are here come come sit here" Grandma Emerson urged her.

Clara sat down on the chair beside Grandma and Grandpa Emerson.

There was only one seat left at the left side of Clara. Alex was going to sit there as Grandma Emerson said to him "What do you think you are doing?"

"Sitting with my wife" Alex said nonchalantly.

"This seat is not for the likes for you it's for Young master White. Your seat is there."

She pointed at the far end corner of the hall where some family servants were seated.

Most people in the audience started laughing lightly.

Grandma Emerson behaviour clearly meant that she considered Alex as same as those servants.

Clara was ready to erupt as a commotion occurred at the door.

"White Family has arrived" someone said.

The whole hall quieted down looking at the people entering the hall.

There was a couple who appeared to be Papa White and Mama White. They clearly looked younger than their age.

There was a good looking young man following them. He has black short hair and a fair skin. He was the famous soon to be rec-- I mean Young master White.

The whole Emerson family welcomed them.

"Come come young master White sit here with our Clara" Grandma Emerson said.

But as they saw the seat beside Clara it was already taken by Alex who had one arm on his leg while the other on the armrest of the chair tapping.

He looks at all of them with disinterest.

Granma Emerson was going to erupt at Alex as Young Master White came in front of them and looked at Clara as he spoke "Miss Emerson the talks of your beauty doesn't do you justice you look more beautiful in person".

As he said this he was going to grab the hand of Clara to kiss the back of her hand but soon he found another hand grasping his arm.

"Ok good. Clara is beautiful as everyone knows and now you too know. Now you can leave. Shoo shoo" Alex said while shooing him with his hands.

The young master White face got wrinkled but he soon composed himself and asked Alex "You are ?"

"Her husband " Alex said nonchalantly.

"Oh you are the famous live in son in law of Emerson family who only knows how to mooch of his wife" YM White said with a clear mockery in his wife.

"Mooching requires skills. If u are capable why don't you find a woman to mooch" Alex said proudly.

Everyone in the hall including Clara had their mouth open looking at his proud expression.

They were all thinking the same thing 'Why are you so proud of mooching of your wife'.

YM White eyes twitched as he answered "I don't need to be so lowly as I am already rich. My family is one of the top family."

"What ? So you were already mooching off from your parents." Alex said.

YM White said while suppressing his anger "Are you really a man? Are you only capable of mooching off women?

Alex shrugged in response "It's with my own ability that I'm able to pimp myself out. Why should I make a move when I have others to do it for me? If you're really as formidable as you think, go and find a woman who would stand up for you! Hah! But looking at your face, I doubt anyone will want you even if you paid them!

The crowd also turned completely silent. A young man stared without blinking, his face frozen in a look of bewilderment. Finally, he intoned deeply, "That man has truly reached the zenith of shamelessness!" The crowd around him nodded their heads vehemently.

Alex walked up to YM White and shook his head in sympathy "Allow me to teach you a lesson too. The only reason why you think mooching is unreliable is because you aren't handsome enough. That's why you lack the imagination to fathom just how charming a man like me can be."

Everyone around was staggered by his proclamation. Their eyes had been opened to a new height of shamelessness.
