Chapter 40: Our Newlywed Bliss

Xia Wanwan revealed a hint of confusion and, following Gu Junhan's gaze, she turned her head and saw Xi Muchen ascending the spiral staircase. His long, straight legs moved unhurriedly towards them. Clothed in a light grey vintage suit, his upright stature was accentuated, and he exuded a commanding presence, like a king making his descent, followed by Cecile in a white suit.

Xi Muchen's eyes had been fixed on Xia Wanwan from the start, and she couldn't help but look back at him. Her face also showed surprise, and her eyes, full of inquiry, asked him, "Why are you here?"

"Wife," he said effortlessly, with a smile that wasn't quite a smile, he wrapped his arms around Xia Wanwan and pulled her into his embrace, looking at Gu Junhan as he spoke, "We are newlyweds, as inseparable as glue. Naturally, wherever Wanwan goes, I follow."

"Is that so?" Gu Junhan sneered, with an ambiguous tone, "I hope it's that simple of a reason."
