Spirits of Sin

'Weapons?'

That hadn't really been a thought in Shuyun's mind since being sent into this world.

And now having seen what the students of this academy are capable of, truly, he didn't fit in. Much less meeting the baseline quota for entre for the first dome, by standards he should be lucky to be mentioned in the same sentence as the academy.

But now faced with the opportunity, excitement couldn't help but build within him.

He had already seen the magic and mysteries this world had to offer in terms of power. But weapons? How would they work and function here?

He had seen some of the students fighting with what seemed basic swords, but, would the supposed 'treasured artifacts' stored within the treasury of the most prestigious academy within the elfin realm truly only amount to that much?

It was through his own inferences that came with the time he had spent so far in the world to realize they would be anything but ordinary.

All the while Shuyun fantasized in his head, Yeyin looked over to the Elder. The elder knows of Yeyins true position, and by association, can tell the importance of Shuyuns status. She could only laugh at the elders attempt to suck up to a valuable acquaintance of the Queen.

Even she could tell of Shuyuns inexperience. It was really shameful just what these elders would do for a possible favor in the future.

Elder Feng gave a light smile before he waved his hand one again. This time though, the color of the portal emitted a completely different aura. Contrary to the usual, the calm, almost nonexistent dormant aura, this aura, which was a light red in color, sparked a sense of danger within Shuyuns mind. It was a feeling all too familiar...

Death.

Of course, Shuyun knew that the portal wasn't a gateway to his death, as really anyone that he had met in this world could kill him within a blink of their eye. He felt it was safe to assume that an esteemed elder, such as Elder Feng, wouldn't go to such low lengths to kill him.

As Yeyin had told him about the defensive formations that existed within this world, Shuyun had no other reason then to assume that the one within the portal was no different.

Shuyun watched as Elder Feng stepped into the portal. Reassuring his thoughts, he slowly walked in after him.

Contrary to the instantaneous transportation of the previous portals he had been in, the process with this portal seemed unusually delayed. Had it been the normal portals that he had been in, he wouldn't have to blink before the new location would appear before him. This time though, for what could amount to no more than a couple of seconds, an infinite red void devoured him. Every crook and nanny of his mind seemed to be scoured. His mind appeared to lay bare in front of this unknown entity. His sense of touch, smell and hearing seemed to have been deprived of him in that instant

Time seemed to flow differently as he stared into the red void. A slow, but calm glow reflected in his eyes. the flow moving deep red particles that circled the void passing within touching distance of his eyes. Excusing the dawning feeling of death, Shuyun thought that this space he was in, wouldn't be a bad place to sleep.

It was then that all of a sudden, at once, his senses returned to him. The scene before him changed just like every other time. But, missing the usual white marble, a large, dark, wooden door stood up tall in front of him. The sheer size of the door dwarfing his height like an ant to a star. Though appearing very fragile, the ancient aura that spewed off of it begged to differ.

Planting his feet firmly on the ground, Shuyun fully took in the image before him.

Shortly after, Yeyin appeared behind him, the crimson portal remaining open only an instant longer before collapsing on itself and disappearing.

Elder Feng, as if waiting for the arrival of Yeyin, then commenced to walk towards the door.

Shuyun eyed him with interest, closely watching the door for any action. Who wouldn't? The treasures of the academy were just behind this aged door.

Suddenly, two figures manifested before Elder Feng. Possessing a humanoid form, two fogs appeared. Different in color, one fog was a dark purple, while the other, a light red. While Shuyun felt great unease at the moment of the fogged spirits arrival, the elder showed no signs of weariness.

Slowly backing up to Yeyin, Shuyun whispered as he asked, of course, his information outlet, the all-knowing Yeyin.

"Who are those beings?"

Yeyins gray eyes fluttered. Most of the young masters she was tasked to guard were too prideful to lower themselves to ask questions. Seeing Shuyun ask away without a worry in revealing his lack of knowledge showed her his true character. And, she could say, she really enjoyed his presence.

"They are the Spirts of Sin, Greed and Envy, Greed being the red colored and Envy being the dark purple colored spirit"

She pointed towards the aged door.

"As you already know, behind that door lies the treasures of the academy. While they many not being the most important within the realm, the Palace still holds them in high regard. Because of this, mirages of the true spirits of Sin, which reside in the palaces treasury, are mirror to guard the gate of the academies treasure."

She smiled as she continued.

"And, being parts of the true spirits of sin, they are able to feel any feelings of greed or envy the person wanting accesses to the treasury may have, along with the direction of their intent. This stops anyone who many have gotten pasted the Crimson Guardian Formation set on the portal to accesses this room."

'So that entity I felt was the crimson guardian...' Shuyun nodded as he took in the information.

Suddenly, the eyes of the twin spirits shifted their attention to him.
