Chapter 19: A Friend in Need

Birdy took a deep breath before opening her bedroom door and gingerly making her way to the living room. She stayed at Holly's bakery until it closed and the two had made up over dinner. Admittedly, the main motivation had been to avoid Alex for as long as she could while she got her head straight.

Now, the next morning, it would probably be impossible to avoid the other woman unless she was flying out for a surprise gig Birdy didn't know about. It was time to face the music; the potentially very awkward music. Birdy hadn't given any thought to what she was going to say to Alex but she knew it was best to tell her she was planning on moving out as soon as possible.

Birdy paused as she heard the sound of someone throwing up violently in the bathroom, concern flooding her veins.

"Alex?" she called out as she gave the door a tentative knock. "Are you okay?"
