CHAPTER TWENTY TWO.

MIKHAIL'S P.O.V

'crack' I look down at my palm to see that the pen I was holding is now broken, I broke it from squeezing so hard.

Fiona already left a few minutes ago but I'm still bothered.

She was thinking about something and it had an effect on her.

I'm so curious about it, what could she have been thinking of? Maybe she was... Thinking about me? No that's probably not it. She's too pure to have those thoughts.

Whatever it was, I just hope it wasn't about another man.

Caleb growls at this and I try to calm him down, he's still agitated about what happened a few minutes ago.

The arousal coming off Fiona almost made me lose control over him, he wanted to come out and mark her, maybe even mate with her.

It took a lot of effort for me to hold him back and he is not happy about it.

He has been restless for a few days now. Whinning about wanting to mark his mate and all that.

I've tried explaining to him that we can't do that now, especially not with everything going on.

Fiona and I haven't gotten to know each other that well and I wouldn't want to pressure her when she already has a lot on her plate.

Caleb doesn't seem to care about all of that, he just wants his mate and I can't blame him.

A part of me wants to mark her too but I will hold back for as long as necessary.

'Don't be so sure about that' Caleb says grumpily and I roll my eyes at his current mood.

"What do you mean? I'm definitely going to be patient about this" I tell him sternly hoping that he will get the message that he should do the same but he shakes his head in reply.

'You don't know how much effort it's taking me not to stalk over to her room and claim her this instant' he tells me and I freeze.

"What is wrong with you? You have been acting weird for a few days now. You've been more... Lustful towards Fiona" I say angrily and he huffs.

'It's not my fault, I just can't control myself. It's like something is forcing me to think that way, I feel compelled to complete the mating process'

This makes me frown. What does he mean by compelled? "Caleb what do you mean?" I ask and he sighs before laying down.

'I can't explain it, I just feel more drawn to her. I'm more aware of her scent, her presence, everything about her is suddenly a thousand times more addictive " he says truthfully.

'It doesn't help that she sometimes spurs me on. The way she kissed us yesterday for example. The way she touched us, I wasn't expecting that.

If that guard hadn't interrupted us then I'm positive that I would have marked her' he tells me.

I smile remembering what Fiona did yesterday. I never expected that she would touch or even kiss me but I absolutely enjoyed it.

'Look Caleb I don't know what has suddenly come over you but you need to keep yourself in check. Don't scare her off'

He shakes his head at this 'i've been trying but it's not working. I guess I have to try harder' he says finally agreeing with me.

"Let's leave this matter for now. We should finish the paperwork and get some rest. Alpha Daniel will be coming to visit soon to finalize the alliance between our packs"

Caleb scoffs again 'I still don't understand why you're accepting an alliance with him, we don't need his pack' he says with arrogance.

"Yeah we don't need his pack but it will do him good to form an alliance with us."

He gave us the information we needed on the rouges in exchange for an alliance. " I can't go back on my word" I say with finality giving no room for Caleb to complain again.

"He helped us out, without him we might have remained clueless about those rouges. Now we know about what they've been doing in the dragon realm too. We have to put an end to them" I add.

'Yeah supposing we can actually find them. We don't know anything about their plans, how they operate or any other thing that can help us get rid of them' he says and I nod in agreement.

"We don't but we must find something. Tomorrow I'll start calling up some other Alphas to see if they have any new information. There has to be something about those rouges" I tell him.

'There's definitely more to this issue than meets the eye. I just hope we figure it out soon' Caleb says.

I spent the next two hours sorting out the rest of the paperwork, when everything was done I looked up to find that it was already past midnight.

I got up from the chair and stretched my tired limbs before walking out of the office. I needed to get some rest since I would be waking up early to train the pack members tomorrow.

I was about to head towards my room when I suddenly caught a whiff of Fiona's scent.

My face scrunched up in confusion and I quickly followed the scent wondering why she was still awake at this time.

I got to the kitchen and noticed Fiona sitting on the island stool drinking a bottle of water.

She noticed my presence too and looked up at me only to avert her eyes quickly and look down again.

"Fiona you're still awake, why didn't you go to bed?" I asked and she dropped the bottle of water on the counter.

"I...tried to sleep but I couldn't so I came down for a bottle of water" she said looking down.

I noticed that her gaze was averted and she stared at her hands which she was fiddling In her lap.

There was a faint blush on her cheeks and I realized that she must still be embarrassed about what happened in my office.

"Oh, how come you couldn't sleep? Is something bothering you?" I asked taking a seat next to her.

I heard her heartbeat slightly increase at my actions and I had to keep myself from laughing. She doesn't need to be embarrassed around me just because of what happened earlier.

"No, not really, it's just that Alice won't let me sleep. She keeps bugging me to-" she quickly stopped talking and I raised my eyebrows at this.

"Alice is your dragon right?" I asked and she nodded quietly. "So what's she bugging you about?" I inquired from her only to be met with silence.

Fiona was now staring at her fingers like they are the most interesting things in the world.

Her heart rate sped up again and I grabbed her hands to keep them still. She almost pulled away but I held them firmly. This forced her to look up at me and our eyes met.

It felt like we got drawn into our own little world the moment our eyes met.

We stared at each other silently but even though we were silent, our eyes whispered a thousand words.

The want, longing, desire. I could see them clearly written in her eyes and I knew that my eyes were mirroring the same expressions.

My hand slowly travelled to her face and I cupped her cheek. She didn't say anything and I took this as approval.

My hand then moved to the back of her head and I pulled her face towards mine.

Our lips met slowly and I heard Caleb sigh in satisfaction. My hands tangled in her wavy hair and her hands wrapped around my neck.

The kiss got deeper and I lifted her unto the counter as my hands roamed across her body. A short moan spilled out of her mouth when I pulled her hair and this made me growl into her mouth.

I didn't know how long we stayed like this. A ball of passion and desires, lust raging in our bodies as we kissed like our lives depended on it.

My hands moved over to her top and I was about to take it off when the light switch suddenly flipped on.

"Oh my dragons, what do we have here?" I heard a cheeky voice say and we quickly detached our locked bodies.

I shielded Fiona with my body as she ran her hands through her hair and tr

ied to smoothen her clothes.

I turned back to the voice only to find a smiling Jeremy standing at the door.
