"I fell in love with you when I was dying." "I realized I love you when you died." An Ning never imagined that when she and her husband Richard divorced after he fell in love with another woman on their wedding day that her life would change so dramatically. Not only did memory loss triggers a complete change in her character, she also finds out her mother is a half wizard and her grandmother is a woman named Hippolyta, the great queen of the Amazons. Imbued with the wisdom and strength of the immortal women warriors, An Ning leads the Amazons into the biggest challenge of their lives: co-existing with mortals in war-free 21st century. But An Ning's and the Amazon's peaceful existence is shattered when the ex-husband she thought is dead pulls An Ning into the past where she wakes up in the body of a dead empress, whose husband has been assassinated. The kingdom is in chaos and it needs all of An Ning's cunning as an Amazon princess to survive and win over her enemies.

Chapter 1How long have you known?

"Do you love her?"

He looked at her, stunned.

"It's just a simple yes or no question, you know," she said, lips bent in a sneer.

"An Ningโ€ฆ."

"It's uncomfortable talking about the past when the future is here and about to hit us with a brick," she sighed. "I'll move my things out tomorrow."

"An Ning!" his voice rang with shocked disbelief. "You are my wife."

She stopped and threw him an indifferent glance. "The thing about me, Mr. Lui, is that I don't like drama. Here you are, sitting in the dark with a drink, wondering how to tell me that you've fallen out of love with me, never loved me, or whatever. You're wondering how you think I will react to the news that you're fucking another woman behind my back. That you have no intention of stopping the affair even if I cry blue murder and threaten you or her."

"An Ningโ€ฆ"

"I will leave. You don't have to push me, threaten me, bribe me or throw dramatics my way. I know when I'm not wanted. I have enough pride not to make a fool of myself in front of you."

"An Ningโ€ฆIโ€ฆ" he stopped.

"I'll go see my lawyer tomorrow." She took a deep breath. "Anyway, good night. This is hopefully the last time we'll ever see each other. I wish you well, Richard."

She turned away without looking back. He was flabbergasted at the sudden turn of events. He was expecting tears, hysterics, anything other than the cold dismissal she just flung at him. He was suddenly conscious of a vague feeling of disappointment. She knew about him and Valerie. She knew and yet her first reaction was to tell him he was free to pursue his inclinations and that she was wishing him well, that she was leaving him, willingly.

She didn't even bother to ask him why he cheated on her, as if the act itself was too cheap and common for her to even bother about. Suddenly, he found himself running after her. She was inside her new Audi, her profile serene and eerily calm. He hurried to her side of the car and opened the door, almost dragging her out in his anger.

"Why?" he gritted out. "Is that all you have to say? " 'I know you're cheating on me but I don't care. I'm leaving you. Good luck.'" What the fuck is that?"

"Was it too casual for you or too blunt?" she said, like she was silently mocking him.

"What the hell is wrong with you? You catch your husband cheating and you act like it's the most natural thing in the world. I was fucking Valerie behind your back, for fuck's sake! Get angry. Get mad. Throw things at me. Behave like a fucking betrayed wife, not this cold indifference like I haven't just destroyed your world. I don't want you anymore. I want to be with Valerie, do you understand what that means?"

"What does it have to do with me?" An Ning asked, genuinely perplexed. "We're divorcing. Of course, I expect you to run to your mistress. You don't expect us to still be friends for life after this, do you? Is that really what you think?"

She was unnaturally calm. She was even smiling a little and looking at him like he was a stranger. She was unruffled, so calm and collected she made him want to throw things, like a brick perhaps on her fucking head.

"But isn't this what you want after confronting me with your adultery? That you'll tell me you don't love me anymore, that you love Valerie and leaving me for her. All I'm doing now is taking the initiative to make your path easier. I'm here telling you I understand. Go to your mistress, marry her, have children with her. I tell you I'm fine with it and you're mad at me? Dude, are you high or something?"

"An Ning!" Richard almost screamed in frustration. "I am leaving you! I don't love you anymore. I am divorcing you and marrying Valerie. Do you understand?"

"Again, what does that have to do with me?"

He stopped and stared at her, truly shock this time. She returned his gaze with an unrecognizable expression of cold contempt on her face. She didn't bother hiding what she was truly feeling this time. He could feel it in the frost of her eyes, the twisted line of her red lips.

"How long have you known?" he whispered, aghast.

"A day into our marriage," she said, eyes unblinking on him.

"But I haven'tโ€ฆ" he evaded her gaze self-consciously.

"I know you will though. You waited. I waited. It was for that reason that I didn't want kids. As soon as I knew our marriage was doomed, I already made arrangements."

"You lied to me." He was angry. He wanted to smack the unfamiliar tone of utter boredom in her voice. She acted impatient, like she can't wait to get away from him, like he was unworthy of her time. She acted like she hated him. This woman, his wife, who knew him most in the entire world.

She laughed.

"You weren't expecting this, were you? You thought inside a box, anticipating my anger, my tears. What were you thinking? That I would beg you not to leave?" she mocked. "I was always two steps ahead of you, dear husband. I even knew when it was that you first fucked Valerie."

"You're guessing," he gritted, pale with anger. "Is that what your spy told you?"

"I have eyes, Richard. Unlike other women, I use them and don't flinch when face-to-face with the truth. I stayed with you all these months because it suited me. You're an amazing man. You're nice and kind. I've always hero-worshipped you since I was young.

I admit I'm disappointed. It took me a long time to understand what happened until I realized that things changed. You have and I have. Let us part without any bad blood between us. I am telling you, you can have Valerie. I'm letting you go. Isn't that the hope-for ending in this type of situation? I'm hanging my gloves in defeat. Love won. And you're angry?"

She looked at him with a detached curiosity that nettled him. He looked at her, really looked at her as if for the first time. His wife had always been a beautiful woman. Tall and exquisitely slender, skin like spun milk, long and trim legs, glossy long hair that fell like black waterfall behind her back.

She wasn't always that way during her teenage years though. Thin and gangly with eyes hidden behind thick, black lenses, the teen An Ning used to be shy and easily frightened. She used to be the timid shadow that followed him everywhere, the rabbit to his aggressive bear.

He married her because she was familiar and always there. There was a sense of inevitability to it, as if his path will always follow the same road as hers. Their life together was punctuated with the passive and familiar ebb and flow, not even a ripple to disturb the waves.

Their marriage, when he thought about it now, was founded on the same old fashioned ideal his parents had stuck to before him: that love is unchanging, that commitment is honor, that monogamy is supreme. He used to abide by the same rule, that is, until he fell off the beaten path and came face to face with Valerie, passionate, earthy, wholly enchanting Valerie.

"What do you mean a day into our marriage?" he asked, suddenly focusing on that important point. "Valerie and Iโ€ฆwe didn'tโ€ฆwe recently just got together so how could you have known?"

She glanced at him then she smiled.

"It was at our wedding. You went out for a smoke and I came looking for you. You were outside, talking to this beautiful yet unfamiliar woman carrying a bouquet of flowers in her arms. I watched the two of you. You were looking at her as if you were still single. Very attentive, with a brilliant smile on your face, leaning slightly towards her.

Very flirtatious. Like a touching love scene in one of those Korean dramas. You didn't see me. I went back inside and realized you and I, we didn't have a chance. We'll probably be divorced in a year."

She stopped and was silent. He thought he saw a flicker of something like pain on her calm face. He had a sudden urge to comfort her, to tell herโ€ฆhe didn't know what. He remembered that day. Their wedding. The drizzle of rain that stopped when they were inside the church. His brother and his wife, the epitome of an old married couple; An Ning looking breathtaking in her white wedding dress.

He remembered that moment with Valerie. She was talking to someone on her phone when he came upon her. He watched her, too lazy to move as he listened to her voice. Afterwards, it was natural to fall into conversation with her until he almost forgot the ceremony he just went through and had to be reminded of. Was it when it started, he wondered.

"Why didn't you say anything?" he asked, his voice low and laden with guilt, no longer pressing and angry.

"What is there to say?" she shrugged. "Too bad the ceremony ended before the two of you met. You noticed I didn't sign the marriage certificate. I had them send it to the house but it's still unsigned. We're probably not married anyway. I'll ask my lawyer."

"What are you talking about? How can you not sign the marriage certificate?"

"After what I've witnessed? I just saw my not-even-an-hour husband fall in lust with another woman and you want me to sign papers that would bind me to you for life?! I'm not that crazy."

Richard was livid. "I didn't fall in lust with Valerie. I was married to you. But you obviously didn't consider it important enough since you ignored the most important part, which is to put your signature on it!"

"Semantics," An Ning shrugged. "I'll consult the lawyer. Ok, can I go now? I wouldn't want you to explain to your girlfriend why your wife is still here and refusing to leave. We don't want that, do we?"

"Wait," Richard was undecided. "I don't want to leave you in a bind. You can stay here and I'll move out."

An Ning laughed. "You really don't get it, do you? Richard, as soon as I saw which way the wind was blowing I've made plans. I bought an apartment as soon as you furtively started sneaking out with Valerie. Why the hell do you think I wasn't here most of the time?

Get a clue, will you? Everyone knows you're having an affair. Everyone. The only one it seems who's not clued in into it yet is you. What the fuck? You're boring. I'm out of here."

Richard could only fume in impotent anger as he watched his wife of one month, two days, and six hours rode triumphantly and happily out of his life.

Though paralyzed, still radiantly charming๏ผ

VOLUME001 Ethan's dying wish I was left paralyzed with only a month to live, but that "9-inch" part of me was still hard as a rock. Even the sickly beautiful schoolgirl couldn't resist my "pecker," and to fulfill my dying wish, my sister even dressed up as a lady in black stockings to teach me how to "drill." What's more outrageous, the hospital nurses wanted to make a little movie with me, lining up with the head nurse at the front... Just after coming out of the emergency room, I saw the system panel: Name: Ethan Jones Gender: Male Length: 9 inches Skill: Hard as a Rock LV1 Note: Peak human hardness Dying Wish: To caress auntie's sheer black stockings Task Reward Points: 1000 points Despite my strength and stamina attributes being only at 1, and my agility at 0, only my "pecker" could lift the heavy blanket while doing squats. My face was full of question marksโ€”what kind of bug is this system? Just because I like looking at auntie's legs, did it give me such a special skill? Now, I have no choice. I must complete tasks to earn points and add attribute points. However, the story actually begins 12 hours earlier... VOLUME002 Ryan's death mission Ryan had been diagnosed with late-stage heart disease, and as he neared the end of his life, he unexpectedly received a miracle drug from Ethan that brought him back from the brink. But Death wasnโ€™t ready to let him go just yet. A year later, during a rescue mission at an orphanage fire, Ryan tragically lost his life. But did he really die? No, Ryan awakened a whole new system. Wait, what? He has to be killed by five girls, one after the other? The only way to come back to life is to die? What kind of twisted logic is that?! But if thatโ€™s the only way to survive, then so be it... Just, could you all not feel bad about killing me? And falling in love with meโ€”whatโ€™s that about??? The gears of his fate quietly begin to turn... VOLUME003Ethan's new body Ethan has traveled back in time and gained the ability to swap bodies with a girl named Lila. Hi, everyone. The Author here. I'm sorry for taking time with the updates. In my excuse, I'm not a professional author merely a newbie so I have to deal with the outside world first before I can write. Anyway, all of you who have been reading and following this story, thank you so much for your patronage. I hope I can fulfill your expectations and really make this story more interesting. The novel is a mish-mash of everything since the main character is after all an immortal with superpowers. Her life experiences, however, are those of normal people: the man she loved disappointed her, the second man cheated on her, and she's a single mom bringing up her kids in a world which is far from the norm. Add to that, she has to lead a bunch of legendary warrior women now reduced to living mortal humdrum lives because there's no more war anywhere to engaged them. An Ning is a very special character for me. I started this novel basically from the point of view of a woman who was basically flawed from the beginning. She grew up with the guy she eventually married, a guy who loved her as a friend and who would probably have been happy being her husband if he had not fallen in love with a stranger during his wedding day. I wanted An Ning to understand the world around her, about love, marriage and relationships from that point of view, the point of view of Richard, her former husband. I think that's the reason why An Ning has such a blase attitude about romance. She doesn't view Richard and Valerie as out and out villains because she understood destiny and chance. She would tell you she practically hounded Richard to marry her and when he did and he ended up disappointing her, she wasn't as bitter as she thought she would be. Angry, yes. Bitter, no. An Ning, however, is no pushover. She can forget, yes but forgive,no, and that's where the main conflict of the rest of the story will focus in the following chapters. Let me tell you a secret: I don't know who the Male Lead is either. I thought it was going to be Han, that's why I wrote him as the perfect alternative for An Ning but An Ning had other ideas. She basically rejected him and was actually happy when he was nowhere to be found on the months before she gave birth to the twins. That's how headstrong and special this character is for me. She wanted to explore her options so I'm letting her. She'll tell me and you eventually who's the guy she has her heart really set into. In the meantime, let's follow her adventures, shall we?
