"The Core of Chaos? And who's that supposed to be?" Kai questioned Owari, oblivious to the unfamiliar name.
"He is a powerful Daemon who wreaked havoc among our kind and shook the balance between good and evil in the world we protect," he explained.
"He is a menace who only follows in the path of darkness. His ever growing power was too much for us Daemons to handle. Killing him wasn't an option either. So, we sealed him away," he continued.
"This is crazy talk," Kai interrupted. "How does this involve me? And why does he want me anyways? I'm not a Daemon or a Demigod and I certainly don't want some crazy old half assed blood thirsty Daemon all up in my neck so…"
"See, that's where you're wrong, Kai," Owari claimed. "I think your mind needs to come down to earth. The realm where Cosmos is being held captive is a place constructed by powerful Daemons where it is impossible for him to use his abilities to breakthrough 'cause he'd lose his mind doing so."
"It's a space, time and spirit prison constructed realm," he began lecturing. "Any action of the body, mind or soul could lead to his inevitable death. But in the year 2002, The Lord of Chaos did the unthinkable. He shook the balance of the world... literally. The reason then was unknown to us, but we traced that reason to your birth."
"You see, once upon a time," Owari transitioned into storytelling, waving his right hand to create a new dimension in the room where the past was recollected to Kai. "The world existed of humans and Daemons, the elite beings who live to protect humans."
"Protect them? From what?" Kai asked curiously.
"Matters and events that can only be understood as you grow more and more in the future," Owari answered.
"So do they know that they are being constantly protected?" Kai wisely asked.
"No. They're not aware. We intend to keep it that way. They lived with that feeling of peace of mind that their "guardian angels" would protect them in the midst of any fatal danger," he replied.
"So Daemons are deities of some sort," Kai theorized.
"Affirmative. Not until one of the best chose to fall from grace…" he informed.
"Cosmos…" Kai announced.
The sound of a suppressed thunder was heard.
"That's right. A vile, satanic entity whose motive opposes the ways of a Daemon, and he has his eyes set on you, Kai." Owari explained. "That's why we had to protect you. Only heaven knows what plans he has for you. Knowing him very well, you are probably his key to escape."
"So hiding me was your best option?" Kai asked, hinting sarcasm in his tone of speaking.
"Well, at least until you showed some signs of possessing core energy manipulation," Owari added.
Kai suddenly recalled his last fight against Shujin, relating the two events together.
"I guess that checks out," He resolved. "So what does this all mean?"
"Aren't you getting it yet?" Owari questioned. "You're the one. You're the key to stopping Cosmos. Once you attain complete mastery of your abilities, whatever they are, you'll pose a threat and possibly put a stop to him once and for all."
"'Once and for all?' Isn't the seal enough?" he questioned.
"It isn't, Kai," Owari revealed. "Even from there, he still finds a way to cause an imbalance between the natural phenomena of chaos and order. He needs to be properly disposed of. After all, even an extremely perfect sealing technique can be broken."
"So, you're saying that in order for the balance between good and evil to continue, Cosmos needs to die?" Kai questioned.
"Exactly," he confirmed. "With the power of the Core of the Daemon hidden deep within your heart, I believe you can finish the job I started long ago."
'What does he mean by that?' Kai thought. "If I may ask, who exactly are you?"
"This question has pondered your mind ever since, and it took you this long to muster up courage," Owari had noticed, chuckling at the naïve mindset of the Chosen One. "I am the Core of Final Judgment. Core Energy at its finest and the strongest Daemon to ever live."
"Well, if you're so high and mighty, why can't you finish the job?" Kai mocked.
"That was the old me," he explained. "The Core transcends the higher you experience growth in power. I was unstoppable. Still am though. But, that's not my destiny anymore. It's yours to fulfill. Are you ready for the journey ahead, Chosen One?"
'Well, if this could finally answer my questions, then why not?' Kai thought. "I am, Owari-san."
"Glad to hear it," he concluded. "This school was set up to train Daemons to be Daemons. I am more than willing to accept you as a student."
"My pleasure," Kai affirmed, bowing to his superior. 'I just knew it.'
"Knew what?" Owari asked unconsciously.
"Could you kindly get outta my head?" Kai requested as his privacy was being intruded.
"What can I say? It's a habit," Owari said, waving his hands to deactivate the technique to ultimately bring back the room. "Lessons start in about one hour and a half or so."
Owari proceeded to snap his fingers to summon a box containing everything Kai would need in his stay in Shinjutsu High.
"Inside is essentially everything you need in this new world. I suspect Shujin didn't think that far ahead," he assumed.
"Thank you, Owari-san," Kai appreciated, carrying the box.
"You're welcome, chosen one," he replied warmly. "You can come in now."
Owari called out the pair. Shujin came in while Karen stood outside, still shaking off the effects of the electrocution.
"So how did it go?" Shujin asked, visibly worried of the outcome.
"You were right. This is the place– the place where I'd find all my answers. Thanks a lot, Sensei," Kai replied, smiling heartily to the delight of Shujin.
"Would you be kind enough to show him around?" Owari requested.
"My pleasure..." Shujin replied. "Let's go, Kai."
Shujin took Kai out of the office. He then gave him a tour of the school and finally took him to the final destination, his dorm. He handed over the key to the door to him.
"You can rent an apartment if you want. This is just an added bonus. Call it a privilege. It's typically a four-bedroom dorm. Okay! With everything done and dusted, I believe my work here is done. Enjoy," Shujin wrapped up, clapping his hands to enable him to disappear.
"Well, that's new—" Kai exclaimed. "Anyways…"
Kai entered the room to see how surprisingly spacious it was considering the fact that it was meant to occupy four people.
He immediately saw two people at the balcony discussing and he called out to them.
A sixteen year old teen was the first to come out. His snow white eyes, crystal hair and a physical fit composure with a kind personality off the bat welcomed him with open arms.
"This must be the new roomie. Hey! I'm Kota and this is Gaia," he introduced.
"Whatever," Gaia said, going back to the balcony.
She's a sixteen year old teen with nature-green eyes and hair coupled with a great physique.
"Forgive her. She's not exactly the nicest when it comes to dealing with people she doesn't know," Kota begged his pardon. "She was like that with me too…"
"Hey, it's alright. I get it. I'm sort of a stranger in this world, so it's cool if she doesn't wanna talk," Kai interrupted.
"Well, I see a wholeful stranger as a friend who I haven't met. To be honest, I miss having a guy to talk to here. Kenji's always on the go, so it's nice to have another fellow bro to talk to," Kota opened up.
"I assume Kenji's the last roommate I haven't seen– Where's he by the way?" Kai asked.
"Heaven knows what he's up to," Kota expressed. "It's always one mission to the other for him."
Gaia came out from the balcony after a while.
"Classes start at five. If you two are gonna keep chatting away, then you're gonna hear it from Shujin," Gaia cut the welcoming party shut.
"Shoot, Shujin teaches here too?" Kai asked, getting flashbacks of his experience with Shujin once before.
"Where else would he teach?" Gaia pointed out.
‘I guess you're right about that,’ Kai thought.
"You gotta change first," Kota added.
"I'm out," she said disgustedly, opening the door and slamming it along with her frustrations.
"At least wait outside for us," Kota said, chuckling.
"She's a tough nut to crack, huh?" Kai assumed.
"It won't be for long I assure you that," he affirmed.
Kai wore his new uniform found in his box and found a school ID. It's a typical standard ID but what caught his eye was the ranking system.
"Nil?" Kai exclaimed, catching the attention of Kota.
"Oh that's the Ranking System," Kota explained. "Depending on the potential and practicality of the techniques and stuff, they assign a rank to you. I'm ranked Pro-Arkhe Level Daemon, Gaia's a Bythos. Why's yours empty though?"
"Maybe that's 'cause I don't have a technique yet."
The look of disbelief shrouded the face of the young Daemon.
