Chapter Sixteen:The Cocky Team leader.

"We shouldn't have agreed to this,this place looks creepy"Nora complained to Mia,she was really scared and it was no different for Mia who held onto her arm too.

The both had been dramatic,ever since they started their journey out to go see the cave and prove history wrong, about having a vampire living behind those closed walls.

It was a stupid idea,that Lily should have strongly stood her ground and not give in to Nadia,who was not scared at all.

She had always not been one to show her emotions quite well,unlike her who think there were petty creatures out there that humans don't know exist,who were out to get her for being different.

So,Nadia was literally her superman while she was nothing, but the scared stupid  human she was, who was venturing out on a really risky journey,that might not end well for her.

Nora and Mia didn't make it any easier for her,as they literally jumped at any slightest graze of the grasses on them.

Mia had jumped into Asher's arm,coiling her hands around him a while ago,while  complaining about something running over her legs.

It was a funny sight,why?

That's nothing but an excuse for her to touch Asher,yeah.She was really smitten by the boy,who also knew about her silly crush on him.

Hopefully,Lily knew that they would give in to their feelings soon.It was such a beautiful sight,and feeling knowing that there's always someone out there who would want to love you.

Love?

A pretty big word,that doesn't answer much when it comes to her aspect.In any way, she had given up on having any thoughts that there's going to be someone out there,who would eventually show up and wash her  off your feets, and shower her with abundant love and affection.

She knew that sort of life wasn't applicable to her, she's pretty fucked up in the hrad , that there's no sane man on earth,that would want to involve himself with someone like her.

"Really?"

She questioned herself, there's absolutely no way she would ever think of him when she's clear headed.

She's only affected because she thinks she owes him something in return,after he had saved her from working into her own death that day she had met him.

The memories weren't much,but she could still remember vividly that her body reached oddly, after finding out something about him that she couldn't remember again.

She tried to.God knows that if there's anything she's good at,that is taking things that seem out of the ordinary serious, because she's on a mission to figure out what exactly is the reason for her existence in this earth.

He was nothing,but a mystery to unfold.

"Stop! You are pinching me Nora,what the hell is wrong with you?"

Lily knew that the only one who that voice belonged to, was the one and only mark,who was pretending that he wasn't scared about all these.

While in reality, he would do a lot more than pinching someone if he wasn't trying so hard to prove that he's a man like Asher,who hasn't flinched a bit by hearing the croaking  sounds of frogs, insects,and whatever creatures of the night that were in this forest with them.

Nadia and Asher ✔️

She had to give it up to them for being so brave,and fearless.As usual,Gwen has kept to her word,about not venturing out on their stupid quest to find a vampire that basically doesn't even exist.

She always loves staying in her safe space, unlike her who might be walking into her death.

"I just want to hold onto you,is that hard to ask?"Nora whispered,which made everyone wonder why exactly she was doing that.

Nadia didn't say much,and dragged her arm while walking after Asher who let Mia hold him for all she wanted.

"Aren't we there yet?''Mark asked Asher,who held his flashlight up to gaze in the path, that they were about to thread in.

It was quite different from the path they had taken,and it did nothing but let  everyone know that it was only about time,until they reached their destination.

"It's still not too late to go back, Mark.But i wouldn't advise that of you, if you are planning on not being a meal for wolves out there,"Asher advised, laughing to himself and also to the look on Mark's face.

"We have been walking for ages,I can't feel my legs anymore.Let's  rest for a bit"Nora whined, squatting down.

"Are you okay?''Nadia asked Lily,and took out a can of water from the bag she carried along with her.

"Yeah, thanks' 'Lily smiled at her, of course her best friend came fully prepared that it didn't reach the mind of others,to carry along their own water.

"Can i have one too,I'm really…"Mia begged, but her statement wasn't finished by Nadia intervening.

"No,the other is …''She said, taking the can of water from Lily's hand after she's sure she's fully served,"For me".

With that,she drank the remaining one right in front of her face.

"Come on,it's only a few steps away from the…"Asher spoke up when he saw how sullen Mia looked for what Nadia had done,but of course he had nothing to do. Nadia isn't a dummy like Lily,who anyone could talk to anyhow.

Foremostly, his words were cut short by the sudden boom in the air,before they all looked up to see a spring of fire falling from the sky, towards their position.

It was headed their way,but everyone was so fixated on finding out what exactly might have caused that, than to look at the danger right in front of her face.

Until Nadia pushed Lily out of the way, and the little to no amount of lava melted on the ground where she stood before.

"Are you okay,did it touch you?"Nadia asked worriedly,cross check-in every hair on her head for any injuries.

"That's my first time seeing this up-front,this place is scary"Mia held onto Asher's arm.

"Gwen was right,this was all a  bad idea.Who knows what else awaits us right.."Nora added,but was cut short by Asher's angry voice.

"Could you all shut up,just shut up!"He roared,"You all knew what awaited you all  when you agreed on making this journey with …"

"Yet that doesn't explain for you, not feeling sorry for what almost happened to your  fellow colleague "Nadia intercepted, getting angry at Asher's cockiness.

Lily went for her arm,there was no need for the argument.She  doesn't like when the team argue, especially when it was about her.

But Nadia wasn't taking any shit from anyone right now,she could stay up through the night, arguing with Asher until he's  willing to give up.

"That shit right there nearly killed my friend,and all you care about is this damn cave you don't even know if the rumors about a vampire been there,is true or not"

"Oh please,it's not something new.Lily is clumsy, everyone knows that.Likewise she too"Asher,the cocky leader of the crew sassed back,which made Mia laugh.

"I dare you to say that again"Nadia moved forward, towering over Asher with her height.

"Nadia,stop it.Its nothing really,I'm okay"Lily tried talking her out,from  what she's about to do.

"Can we just stop being so stupid,I'm tired of this already "Nora yelled at the two,who were bickering at each other who were pointing accusing fingers at each other.

The arguments went on, until Mia saw it.

The ruffling of the leaves behind them,and that made all blood dry on her face.She knows this part,this is where the wild animal comes  out and use them as their meal for the night.

At first,she thought it was an imagination due to the fact that she was scared about this place,until she saw it again.

"Guys…"She called, tugging at Asher's shirt.

"Not now Mia"He scolded her.

"Something is behind the bush!"She yelled,and this got their attention as everyone turned abruptly and held onto each other,while looking at the trees again.

"Shit! That could be a wild boar!"Marl cursed out loudly,both him and Nora held onto each other like their life depended on it.

"Shut up Mark,it's nothing serio.."Asher interrupted him.

"Of course it's not something serious, something is coming Asher,we are good to die"Mia cried, hiding her face into his shirt.

" We need to go like right now,"Nadia suggested,the ruffling got serious and she too knew that something was coming for them.

They tried moving until they heard the howling of wolves,which made Mark hug Nora,Mia clenched tightly on Asher who didn't hide this time around, that he wasn't scared too.

Their eyes moved on another part of the forest,where the shuffling got serious, Nadia pulled Lily behind her which made Lily wonder if she was stupid or what?

They were  about to be eaten by wolves,and all she cared about was protecting her.This is not the time to play superman.

They heard another sound,and paid attention to where it came from which diverted their attention away from the leaves.
