It was the only thing Ysabel could see when she crawled out from under the table. By then, the person responsible for killing the cook was long gone, and if a servant hadn't screamed, she wouldn't have had the courage to leave her hiding place.
The young monarch couldn't remember who brought her to her bed chamber. She was at a loss, recalling the moment before the cook was stabbed to his death.
'I could have done something,' Ysabel thought, her hands shaking and her fingers were trembling terribly.
A few minutes after she had been taken to her chamber, the double doors swung open, and Reis came in, immediately tending to her.
Before the former palace maid could say anything, Ysabel pubbed her hand and pulled her into a tight hug.
