C3: Memory

Weirdly, the woman asked Jamie to come inside after a few moments, after giving such a speech about 'forcing their sexual desires on women.'

*Backing up 5 minutes…*

"So, memory loss huh?"

"Yes… you heard me."

"What the hell, I didn't know you were so serious about that." The woman glanced at the man's face once more. 'God… what is with this… guy. A sexy aura I've never even felt before.'

"What?" Jamie asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Nothing, so… my grandma also told me that we shouldn't just turn away people who need our help, so, why don't you come inside so I can brew you a memory jogging potion or something. Also, I was going to town in the evening, and I can show you around the place if your memories didn't come back. You surely don't have any idea about this place, am I right?"

"That is... quite true."

////

The half-elven woman's cottage was filled with countless different things that Jamie had seen before, in Rings and even in fantasy movies and stories. Every time he saw one of those books about [Firecasting Spells] and [Dragon Killer Curses], it felt like he was dreaming. But this was just too 'real.'

"Take a seat, please." The woman showed him to the couch in the living room.

Jamie was quite shocked. He didn't know that such a woman could be pleasant. 'What the hell changed her mind?' he wondered.

Jamie silently took a seat and looked around the place.

There was a chilling fireplace nearby, some huge bookshelves, a huge shelf dedicated to potions, and some photos of an old lady and two girls. Jamie instantly guessed who the old lady and the woman with the 'glasses' was, and the only unrecognizable face was the beautiful young woman on the left of the photo. Even her smile seemed so bright.

'God… that girl is sexy and cute.'

However, he overlooked one fact about this enlarged photo that contradicted every theory he had about this world in his head.

'Eh? That's a full-color photo!'

What the hell was happening? How come a world based on medieval times has full-color photos? Jamie rubbed his eyes and checked it again.

"Huh…" Jamie muttered, out of sheer shock.

Meloni's attention reverted to Jamie instantly, as she poured in the last ingredient for the [Memory Jog Potion]. "What…? What did you say?"

'Oh shit, she heard it!'

"Umm… did you take this photo from some mana-based camera, or…"

"No, we took it from a camera, you idiot." The woman chuckled. "Well… it's unfair to call you that. You have totally lost your memories then."

The world just got a little more confusing for Jamie. Cameras were ok, to be invented, but having a society like back on Earth, no thanks! He was gonna kill himself again if a major president was running shitty politics inside a Dungeon, deep underground.

"Anyways, do you not remember your name or anything else from your past? Because, sure as hell, you know how to talk," Melloni asked.

"I…" Jamie sighed upon hearing this. Lies never led to good things, living on Earth was a great example. However, he couldn't just tell this woman that he's the next great Demon King who's about to conquer her whole world and… bring the dark ages to Kaden. If he did, she would surely inform the King's Guard or something to come and take him away.

"I have faint memories of my village, but nothing major. It's as if the memories are blurred… I have no memory of any particular family members or my parents," he lied.

Melloni finished cooking the potion and poured the transparent blue liquid that was bubbling into a small glass tube. "Well then, drink up." She handed the potion to Jamie.

Jamie took the glass tube and looked at it. 'Oh fuck… I have a bad feeling about this,' he thought as he started to sweat intensely. What if the potion had side effects? What if it made his dick grow two times smaller? Ok, that's too lethal.

'Here goes nothing!'

He gulped the potion down. He closed his eyes as he felt a soothing feeling. The liquid traveling down his throat to his stomach was a very refreshing sensation, and it calmed him entirely.

[You have consumed a Memory Jog Potion!]

<You gained *refreshment*>

"Ha…." Jamie exhaled, a blue puff of smoke moving out of his mouth. "That was… quite good."

Melloni fluttered her eyes in a surprised manner. "Wha… refreshing? That burns one's throat. In what way is it refreshing?"

"It felt heavenly in every way… God! Thank you," Jamie thanked her.

However, Melloni wasn't done questioning him yet. "What happened? It's supposed to jog all your memories back! Didn't it bring any memories back?"

"No, obviously. My head just feels like it cooled down after a few thousand years of suffering – Ahhhhh…" Jamie spread his arms and sank into the comfy couch, enjoying every bit of the pleasure the potion brought him.

Melloni still gazed at him with her mouth open. She never knew a mere human could have such a strong vitality, considering that this idiot was simply a [Level 1] nobody. And yet… he felt different from her. In some way, he was different than anyone else she had met before.

"What are you?" she asked him, however, this time, with a smile.

Jamie tilted his head and looked at her smiling face. "What am I? A man who is reborn I guess."

Melloni smiled upon hearing this. His words were coming from the heart, for sure. Though, what she didn't know was that this guy meant it literally!

Unexpectedly, Jamie had a cup of tea from the house too. It felt pretty absurd to have a cup of tea with a half-elf from another world, but things could've been way weirder for Jamie. He was happy that the situation ended up this way…

They had quite the talk while they had tea, but nothing that headed too far that can be considered a talk with a 'friend.'

"So, what class are you?" Jamie asked the woman to see if his guess was right from seeing the potions and the most obvious one, the cottage.

"Thought you already guessed. I'm a witch," Melloni replied.

The woman was preparing her purse which was probably to head out of the house, and their 'unexpected encounter' was soon coming to an end.

Jamie gazed at the sun, slowly moving down behind the many branches that covered it. The skies were turning yellow and it was already evening. Jamie felt quite awkward for a moment because of the awkward silence. So, he decided to break it.

"Beautiful evening, isn't it?"

"Very," Melloni replied, who was looking for something to say to Jamie.

Ding!

Another notification popped up on Melloni's phone, and she quickly grabbed it and checked the messages.

[Sis?? Are you coming or not? You said you were gonna be here 15 minutes ago!]

[typing…]

[Coming, coming!] Melloni replied.

"Well, guess the day's coming to an end, friend. It's time to show you to Downwood and make sure that you will never get past that barrier again!" she chuckled. Jamie chuckled too, but it didn't last long.

"Ugh… yeah, it's coming to an end."

The two stepped out of the small cottage and walked to the fence gate. A small black cat was sneaking among the grasses as if it was looking for the mice that scurried along in the evenings. It was Crowley.

Suddenly, he heard the two people opening the gate, and the first thing he saw was a man entirely covered in a Dark aura.

"RWAAARRR!!"

The cat ran away from the fence as they stepped out.

"God… why does that cat hate me?" Melloni asked out loud, seeing the cat running across the fields as if it had just seen a ghost.
