Officer Quinn stood in front of Elyse in the small kitchen area, a small tablet and pen ready to take notes.
"What time did you leave the apartment?" he asked.
"I left for work about seven thirty this morning," Elyse answered.
"Did you lock the door when you left?"
"Of course."
"Did you leave any windows open or unlocked?"
"No, everything was secure. I'm a single woman so I make sure." Elyse rubbed her temples.
"Can you tell if anything is missing?"
"No, it's too messy. Maybe once I put everything where it belongs, I'll know more."
"What do you do for a living, ma'am?" Officer Quinn asked.
"I'm an attorney."
"I'm sure you've made some enemies in the past, right? Anyone come to mind? Any ideas?"
"No, not off the top of my head."
Officer Weber stepped over to them. "I found the point of entry. In the bedroom, one side of the glass slider was removed. The door is pretty messed up."
"What do you mean? How?" Elyse clenched and unclenched her hands.
