After glancing at his afternoon schedule, Dalton sat at his desk in his high-rise office and let his mind wander. He'd been taken aback when the pretty Attorney Elyse Young took a jab at his success, as if it were a bad thing.
He didn't care if his colleagues thought of him as a self-centered bastard. He was proud of his upbringing and told anyone who asked. Dalton pressed his eyes with a finger and thumb. He knew his mother would be proud of how hard he and Austin had worked and the two strong young men they'd become.
His desk phone rang, drawing him away from his too-deep thoughts. His brother was the only one who used his personal line.
"Austin, what's up?"
"Hey, Dalton. Are you busy?"
"Not too busy to take a call from you. Why?"
"Just thinkin' about Dad and I wondered if we should try to get through to him one more time. What do you think?" Austin asked.
