"Thank you so much Monica. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all you did for me, especially calling the police and then following and bringing me home." Lexi hitched a breath. She thought she'd cried herself out but the tears and the trembling continued. Her hand clutched her chest after she tied her robe tighter around her waist.
Her heart ached so much, betrayal hurt, and deception hurt the most..
"I made you a cup of your favorite tea," Monica handed her a steaming cup with a tag attached to a string hanging down one side. "Hopefully, it'll help you relax."
"Oh, thanks. That shower sure felt great. I can relax now. I couldn't stand to be in those clothes another minute." Lexi raised the cup to her lips and breathed deep. "This tea smells so good, too." She added some sugar and stirred. "Monica," she hesitated and took a deep breath.
"It's okay, Lexi. Whenever you're ready. Take your time."
