Out of Time

I got unfrozen again and the pod door started to slowly open. When it got fully open I fell out of it. Coughing and unable to move correctly. My eyes weren't use to the new light so it was completely blurry. They were also red from the cold they were exposed to.

"Is-s it ov-ver? D-dad are you still h-her-e?" I asked, slightly coughing.

"I'm right here don't worry, you're safe now," He reassured me. He kneeled down to me while I slowly started to catch my breath.

"They took Shawn and killed Mother!" I screamed, standing up but losing my balance instantly.

"I know, but we're gonna find him, I promise. Do you know what happened, did you see anything?" He asked me while he helped me stand up.

"I don't know but we need to find Shawn," I told him.

"Okay but before we leave, let's say goodbye to Mom. He opened Mom's pod and took her wedding ring from off of the finger. He looked at her and said, "I'll find Shawn, I promise."

I looked at her too, my eyes watery from the sadness.

"Love you Mom, and goodbye."

We ran through the hall trying to find the exit but we ran into giant roaches, kinda surprising but this was no time to panic.

"Um, plan?" I asked.

"Kill them?" Dad suggested. Dad and I pulled out our fists and killed all of the bugs. When we were done we ran further down the hall. We found a door but it was locked.

"Dad, there's a terminal over there maybe you could use it to open the door." Dad went to the terminal and used it to open the door. We both found a 10mm pistol on the table that had the terminal and went through the door. The exit out of 111 was right there. We needed a computer or something to open it. Dad looked at the floor and found a small computer called a Pip-Boy and gave it to me. I then used it to open the Vault door. We stepped back onto the platform. Shortly after we headed back above the underworld, back up to our home, where we belong and not under that annoying Vault.
