Chapter 2 is Chapter 2

"Adam, so tell me why you were shouting earlier," the old man said. 'Adam' proceeded to think of a lie but as he did, the old man said, "You better not lie to me either, bonehead." And 'Adam' immediately thought of another one realizing the one he was about to tell was incredibly dumb. "Uhm, so I had this terrible nightmare of a roof falling onto me."

The best lies always consist of a bit of the truth.

The farmer immediately burst into laughter as he barely spurted out the words, "Scared of that? Don't fool me. You have the greatest amount of magic in our family yet and you're scared of a roof? You could lift a house for heaven's sake if you tried."

"Wait, what?" Adam said, confused.

"Adam don't make excuses to not work. Ok?" the farmer said sternly. "But I wasn-" "No more excuses from you son starting from here on."

As Adam tried to recuperate his thoughts, he remembered the farmer saying he had the greatest amount of magic in the family. "Magic?" he thought. So this is a world with magic? Uh oh.

"Now, let's get back to work," the farmer said as he walked away.

As the sun finally began to set and Adam finished his work for the day, he wiped the sweat off his face and followed the old man to eat. He needed to find out more about magic and if he had the greatest amount in his family what he could do with it.

Adam followed the old man as they went onto a pathway towards a small stone house. As Adam entered the house, he saw an elderly lady preparing a meal by an almost ancient-looking stove. As he sat down at the table that almost covered the entire room, he saw her swing her fingers towards a cabinet and looked amazed as two plates and forks floated towards the table. "How did you do that?" he said.

As the elderly-looking lady laid chunks of meat onto the plate she said 'Levitation' with a raised brow. "Can you teach me please?" Adam said trying to put on his cutest face he could. The woman raised her finger and pointed at a piece of meat on Adam's plate.

"The first step to levitation is to imagine the projected item in your mind," she explained. "Then you would try and feel a connection between the meat and your finger and once you feel a slight sting on your finger you would be able to make it float in any direction you want." She proceeded to levitate the piece of meat in front of Adam and then moved it into his mouth for him to eat. "Now eat or else you might become like Bryan here."

The old man whose name turned out to be Bryan acted upset but immediately hugged his wife and kissed her. "Oh come on Liz," he said playfully. "You can't possibly be talking with how skinny you are." The couple chuckled to themselves.

Adam ignored that showing of love that he never experienced in his past life and immediately pointed at another piece of meat and tried to imagine the connection. As Bryan sat back down and started to indulge in the meal, Adam finally felt a certain sting and immediately flung his finger in excitement.

"Oh, don't waste your food," Liz said as she looked upwards. Adam in embarrassment said "Sorry" and then immediately stood up to pick off the piece of meat that he flung onto the roof.

Afterwards, Adam went to his room and stared upwards as he laid on his bed.

"So here I am," he smiled as he slowly drifted off into slumber
