Nightmare (3)

As I enter the room that was illuminated under the eyes of the night, I began to contemplate whether it was the right choice to go into the room unprepared.

The hollow environment of the tabernacle was unnerving, it gave a sense of isolation that I am quite used to but this one felt unnatural, uncanny. It seemed to know me, and I felt strange stares coming from all directions.

"Is it just me or is there another presence in this room watching our every move?" I asked Y whose face was covered in dark smoke, floating subtly in the air.

"It is just you, although I feel something deep within the tabernacle. Hey, don't you know at least some basic light spells? It would be much more helpful to be able to see in the darkness" He inquired.

"Is it that dark? I can still see though," I squinted my eyes and I can see objects around the room, though I cannot properly describe what they were, I can see them. "But wait do ghosts even need light to see in the night?"

"I am not a ghost, but for the sake of simpler things, I call myself one. And yes in my case it is quite difficult to see in this magnitude of darkness." He replied. "So illuminate this room this instant."

Commanded by Y I whispered something under my breath and my index finger began to light up the space that was covered by night. As it did, the stars on the ceiling began to lose light in the areas where my artificial brightness collided with them. My eyes adjusted once more to the light that was added inside the room.

It took a while for my eyes to adjust inside the room. I waited for my eyes to properly adjust to look at the surroundings that were inside the tabernacle. The moment it did it gave me a surprise of what was lurking around the area.

The pitch-black room commanded grievances from the way that it was situated. Broken chairs that were missing legs laying down edges around the room, the walls that were patterned in red and black intricately placed in a motion of circles and dots that made a wonderful alluring design, unfortunately, it was dreadfully torn by force, possibly from the chairs looking at the impacts that were embedded on the walls.

Tables stood still attending the chaotic room pushed near the corners of the room, covered in dust and cobwebs that could host an entire spider civilization. I looked to the right-hand side of the room and saw a fireplace, it was blackened by the coals that it burned. It had such an odd appearance with slanting sides that connect to the ground, cracks freely living inside of them.

Y and I continued to survey the scene with peak curiosity at what it could be. There were scattered half-torn books eaten by filth and soot. To add more to the scenery were the destroyed bookshelves that were undiscerning if not for the fact that books were among the pile of rubble. The walls spoke with great history and distraught, and the floor continued to speak as it creaks each time my foot lands on top of it.

"What could have possibly happened here to make such a mess in this room?" I spoke my mind out as if comforting myself.

"..." Y continued to be silent as walked around the room. The room continued to be dimly lit by the synthesized light that was from me. The stars continued to be attractive every time I look at them from afar.

As we reach the center of the large room, inky jet-black-colored soot was on the ground pattern in a way that it is incredibly dense in the middle as it gradually spread toward the room slowly losing its substance. It was incredibly black that the darkness of the room that swallowed it paled in comparison to what it was. The light that emitted from me did not even have the chance to gleam on the black substance as it ate all of it, to show the magnitude of the color it was that dark.

'Well to be honest I do not think that this would be a healthy room to become a basement, nor safe for any people to live inside' My thoughts were shallow about the situation but they were honest.

"Hey Y, do you have any thoughts about this area? This seemed to be quite different from what I would call a basement." I asked him.

"An event happened here a long time ago, as of the moment it is better for you to not go deeper about this topic." He replied. And I didn't continue to pursue the topic.

"Hey is that a door on the other side?" I squinted my eyes looking at it from a distance.

"How can you see that from a mile away what kind of eyes do you have?" Y waved his hands in disbelief.

"For one thing I do not have sockets for eyes" I gave a quick retort to his statement. "Come on let us go" I urge him to continue to follow me.

I leisurely approached the door that was across the room. When I got near to the door it matched the aesthetic of the room that was displayed with pleasure of sinister vibes that could be felt.

"Come on then, open it." Y urged me to open the door.

"No, no, no, no, no! This is way too deep and creepy and I have enough 'reading' experience to know what happens next and besides what can I do when I go there inside." I asked trying to get what motivation he has to go inside the door.

The door portrayed itself in a rustic and crude manner that encompasses the ideals of sophistry inside the house, though I should have expected that when I first entered the room. What got my attention though is the large smear of soot that was spread across the room in a warding manner. I was beginning to show doubts that I should never open something like this, learned this from reading some terror books, and I love them in exchange for not sleeping properly for the night. I continue to read them.

I wasn't the main character or the stupid character that would frantically open the door with curiosity, well I am curious but I am sure that some evil spirit is gonna haunt me and the house till the end of eternity. My imagination exploded as I began to think of the possibilities that would happen if I did, and if I didn't.

"This is too out of line, it's like I am destroying a barrier that was made to keep an ancient evil inside." I hesitated.

"Nocturne technically is an ancient evil, probably even time immemorial, primordial in his name. Number 1 in the game, though it won't probably cause that much damage to others, the best he could do is give a bit of fright to the entire village" He explained.

"Uh yeah that's the worst thing that could happen in this situation, and mind you I am a 13-Year old boy with nothing but a weird tendency to talk to ghostly beings."

"I don't even know what you want to achieve in life or goal but it seems that your determination is quite shallow when it comes to this stuff" He gave hand gestures with a snobby attitude.

"I just want to see my parents okay, I never wanted any of this." I engaged his statement with mine.

"Weak" was the only response he has given. "And your uncle was right you think too much, it's no wonder that you weren't able to particularly do anything in your life. Shallow swimming shall only give you a glimpse of the possibilities if you gave enough effort to swim deeper"

'You think too much' It suddenly hit me.

I got reminded of what my uncle said to me on the day that I met some ugly people and changed my life, I asked myself why was I so afraid of this one door. I carry burdens of destiny that swung itself on my shoulder that hinders my actions to produce happiness and joy within me. I should just go do it and find out.

Renewed me and gave a pat on my back as I give words of encouragement to myself to try and at least open the door, anxiety boiled inside of me and I was terrified of what will happen. But I gave myself a go and see what would happen next.

With hesitation that lingered through my mind and courage that welled up from my heart. I gently grabbed the dusty knob of the door and slowly looked at Y. I wanted to get confirmation that this is the right choice. What am I saying, I know it is, it just feels like I shouldn't do it.

"Well, no choice but forward right?" I gave myself confirmation to combat fear inside me.
