You are Abandoned

To say that I was shocked would be an understatement. Have I been my own enemy? How could that be? Why would humans hunt me down? Weekend is one of them? The one who was hunting her down was the one who looked like him, his type! Yes! How could she trust one of them? The one who had tried to kill her!

"When was the last time you saw your pack? Can you not follow their smell anymore or they did not come to look for you?" he bright her back from her reverie when he asked her a question she had no answer for.

"What does it have to do with you!" she replied as she gave him a sharp look and turned to go out.

He looked at her dumbfounded. Was she not trying to strike a conversation with him just a second ago!

"Being cheeky. Huh? I was just trying to help you. You are a weak kid. I can feel it. Your smell is still new and has a strong essence of humans. If I did not know any better, I would have thought that you are a rogue!" He shook his head but then he looked at her intently as if trying to assess her reaction but she only blinked as she had no idea what he was talking about!

"What is rogue?" she asked as she blinked and three deep lines formed on his forehead.

"Where have you come from? Even the frog is more knowledgeable than you!" His sarcastic tone made her realize that she had once again slipped off. But what could I do? It was difficult to pretend to be someone whom I had no idea about.

"I am a sheltered kid. My mother mostly kept me hidden. She did not allow me to make friends or stay out of home for long.'' In a way, I was telling the truth. My mother had always kept me in front of her eyes and never let me go anywhere. I was the only adult who had not been out after twilight ever and now look at me. I was hiding in a tower with a wolf who was looking at me as if I was a fool.

He snorted at my remark but bought the story :your mother thought that hiding the truth from you will protect you. How foolish! Now look at you, you are lost! You are ignorant and you did not know how to protect yourself. What kind of a chimera are you!" he shook his head again as he could not believe that there were foolish people like them too.

"If you have passed enough comments and looked at me with enough disdain. Tell me, would you share your information with me or not?" my tone was haughty. I may not have other things, but I have my pride which I could not let go of!

He looked at me intently and I stared back. No matter how much pressure he added and how much my knees trembled. I did not back off. I could not back off and in the end he sighed.

He pointed at the nearby rock and I sat there. He took a deep breath and then looked at the distant.

"As you know chimera are not full wolves like us. Though they have the capacity to turn into humans and wolves both like us. They are not strong enough to compete against us and only a few strong chimera were able to hide their features fully after a long practice. As you can see, i look like a human and can hid myself in their crowd easily, while your hair and claws are still visible.'' I looked at my hands and tried to concentrate but nothing happened. The sharp nails continued to mock my existence and I had to close my eyes for a second to keep my emotions in check.

"So, chimeras need to hide themselves. Or else humans hunt them. Sometimes out of fear and sometimes to run tests on them in their pathetic laboratory. No matter how much we try to rebel against them, the law of mythical beings would never allow us to reveal our identity in front of them. So, chimera are vulnerable and especially you.`` He looked at me with pity this time and I frowned . Why was I a special case!

As if reading my mind, he replied, "your smell is just like humans. That foul smell may anger other mythical beings. So you could be hunted by both. In these types of cases, only the pack can save their member. That is why your mother put so many restrictions on you. But at least, she should have told you the reason. So, that you could be prepared." he took a sigh as he looked at her with pity.

"So you mean I could only be protected by my pack?" which did not even exist in the first place. Just great! How worse my fate could be!

He nodded his head but then shook it. "But these days even they are abandoning their members in a fear of being dragged down because of them." he looked at me with a frown when he ended his statement.

"Where did you get separated by your pack? Where was your mother at that time?" he asked me intently as his voice turned more ferocious this time, and I trembled. I had spoken all the lies for a lifetime. What else was I supposed to tell him? i tried hard but i did not get any more excuses as i knew nothing about the working of packs.

"Why?" I asked back, unsure of how to reply to him further. He looked at me apologetically as if he was feeling too bad for me. I wonder is that a good thing or bad that he had sympathy for me when he finally spoke,

"Because there may be a chance that you are not lost. They have abandoned you little pup."
