What the matter is?

"Ohh! But Alpha would not be pleased if he would come to know that I did not show you hospitality."

I looked at him confused. I thought that the girl and others saw me entertaining Ethan. But I was sure the cafe was far enough away. Even if he was standing at the door, there was no way that he could have seen me with Ethan. Yet they all seem to be aware of my presence and the person I entered with. As if understanding my confusion, he smiled.

"I think you are forgetting that we can all talk with telepathy." he raised a brow when I looked at him with widened eyes. His brows furrowed and I finally controlled my expressions.

"Why are you so shocked?" he still asked, and I gulped.

"I had never thought that he would tell me about me." What was I even saying? My statement was too vague but before I could explain to him, he smirked.

"This is the first time Alpha has brought a girl with her. Though he had often brought others for help. Anyways, what would you like to have? Coffee or shake or our speciality chocolate mousse!" He had a kind and warm smile on his smile. I nodded and sat down on the nearest table which was closer to the window.

"I will have anything that you suggest." I replied with a smile and he smiled back. Nodding his head, he left to bring my order while I looked around. Everyone's eyes on me even if they said nothing.

The place was at the centre of the market. A lot of people could be seen wandering there of different ages and periods.

"This is your chocolate shake with extra cream and waffles." he gently laid my order on the table and left after nodding.

"Thank you." was all i said, as i tried to digest the fact that it was my new life and they are observing my every action and could inform each other by telepathy. It was like being on the watch of CCTV cameras 24/7.

Only the thought was enough to churn my stomach. I took a sip of the chocolate shake. Its coldness, soothing my jittery nerves. The man was frowning when I asked him if I would eat cooked meat and here they even have ice cream shakes and waffles. Was he testing me by then or chimeras lived in the woods while wolves have their own cities?

There were thousands of questions in my mind but I did not have any answers. Taking small sips, I tried to concentrate on things that were in front of me for now. That was the pack run! I still have to find a way to avoid it or at least postpone it until I find a way to run from here.

"Hey, my name is Rune." a man in his thirties came and sat behind me. He did not even ask or wait for my permission before sitting there. But I guess that's how they behaved. Most of them look around as if they rule here.

"Hello, my name is Olivia." I replied with a smile. I did not want to sound proudy or snobbish. I did not want to be the centre of attraction too.

"Hmm, we all know that. I have come here to know more than that." I frowned at the smirk he was giving me. I did not think that he was here for good! The way he was looking at me was enough to make me uneasy.

"I did not get you!" I replied and his smirk only broadened.

"I wanted to know from which pack you belonged initially? And how did you meet Ethan? All your details and the place where you have been before coming here." he asked as if i owed him an explanation.

"And why do you think that I would tell you that?" I asked in a sharp tone and his eyes narrowed on my face.

"Is there a problem in telling about yourself?" His words were suggesting that I was trying to hide something. Though I was! I could not accept that easily. Not in a way he was trying to point it out.

"I do not think that I am bound to reply to a stranger. You can think what you want, i didn't care anyway.'' I did not stand up, even when my hands were scratched. I continued to sit there calmly and enjoy my waffle while everyone's eyes were settled on me.

Was that the reason the wait had stopped me? And here I thought that he was a warm and kind man?

I could feel his pressure increasing but I had to stay strong if I had to survive in this world.

"I am from the security of alpha." he finally added when he realized that i was not getting affected by the pressure he was using on me. I just snorted at his reply.

"So? If you want to know anything about me for his security, then why don't you ask him? He knew about me and if there is something he did not know, he can ask me anytime. As my benefactor, I am only answerable to him." my words came out strong and resolute, instead of my panic that was making havoc inside. I did not know what exactly chimera was, where they lived to make a story anymore.

And the way he was looking at me, I was sure that he would catch my lies easily.

"So, i take it as a denial to cooperate with me and reply to my questions." he tried to pressurize me again but i just snorted. If he wanted to know anything he could have asked Ethan. Why was he so bent on asking me!

"Why? Do you not have the courage to ask Ethan or did he not even ask you to know about me? Now I wonder why are you even interested in knowing about me so much? How about I call Ethan here and ask him what the matter is?"
