Blood that stinks

I open my eyes as a cold hand suddenly touches my face, to my surprise the person holding owning the hand is no other than Heli.

I scratched my eyes as I move to sitting position from lying at my bed.

"Heli?! what are you doing in here?!" I asked.

He just smiled back at me, no response coming from his mouth. He slightly pinched my cheeks and touch my messy curly hair. He's acting weird again.

I gradually move my eyes at the window and was shocked to see that it's still dark outside. I surprisedly looked back to Heli.

"Heli how did you-" I lost the words that I want to say when as I looked around there is no Heli around nor his shadow or any evidence of him visiting me this night.

I was furious...

"Is that Heli?! or just my imagination?"

"NO! I SWEAR ITS HIM!" my mind is filled with thoughts. I know it's him, there's no doubt it's Heli. I even can feel his cold hands touching my face, but where is he?! where did he go?!

I confusedly turned around in every part of my room, but there's no traces of a skinny Heli around.

I get up to my bed and without any footwear I run towards my bedrooms door and run as fast as my small body can. I burst out at the main door of our house and don't even mind closing it.

It's been months since I met Heli, the warm summer breeze always greet us whenever we come out to play at the yard, but this time as I looked at the yard the white snowflakes falling from the sky ruined every memory I have during those times.

I felt the cold temperature traveled through my whole body that makes my body chill, but my mind don't want to compromise. I will talk to Heli right now!

I run outside without bothering about the cold ground touching my barefooted feet; I don't even bother wearing any warm clothing before I go outside.

My mind already decided, I'll talked to Heli and clear all the questions in my head.

I run through the dark narrow path where the Shun forest located, every seconds, every breath, every smoke coming from my mouth, every steps that I did, makes my heart beat skip.

The cold weather don't bother me either way as I pass through the houses one by one. The covenant town is as peaceful as it is when the time is dead, it's like a frozen corpse hidden from the bright and warm rays of sunlight.

I chase my breath, my head hurts, and my body trembles as it fights the cold covering my whole existence.

My whole body feels numb, but it didn't stop me to continue running until I saw the path where I can see the huge trees at the entrance of the Shun forest.

The temperature drops to it's lowest degree at this moment, I can't breathe properly, my chest aches.

I continue walking....

Huge trees, countless crows, narrow paths, and a cold dark aura; it's a dead forest. It's indeed the Shun forest.

I saw flat rocks lying properly on the floor, I continue following those flat rocks until I big plank of woods blocked my way, it is filed up like a wall.

I walk around to find the use of this boundary wall.

I saw a small wooden gate with a sign written in red paint covered with white snow.

It says do not cross....

I looked around to see if there's anyone that I can ask about the location of Heli's house.

There's no one in here....

I turned my back at the gate, I tiptoed to see what's inside.

There's no one inside the yard, but one thing surprised me, I saw Caramel lying on the opened door.

"This is Heli's house.... " I smiled as I prepared my self to shout.

"HELIIIIIIII!!!!" i yelled.

There's no response coming from the house.

" HELLOOOOO.... IS ANYBODY THERE?!!!" my voice is at its highest pitched that hurts my vocal cords.

There's still no response....

I hold the gate and realized that it's also unlocked. How can they be so careless to leave the gate and the door unlocked.

The silence of the surroundings makes me crazy.

I'm trying to blend in with the surroundings and feel if there is any presence nearby, but I failed to find anyone.

Are they pass asleep??? either way its still pass midnight, but one part of my mind still haven't moved on of the scenarios happening lately. As time passes by, everything turns suspicious.

I've decided I'm coming inside, it may sound like I'm gonna trespass the house but it doesn't matter anymore.

I grab the wooden gate tightly and open it, I even have a hard time opening it for the snow at the ground filed up and blocked the gate as if no one is already living in here for the whole day.

I walked through the yard and stop at the front of the opened door.

I grab Caramel from lying at the floor and hug it tightly, but something bothered me even more.

Caramel stinks. I hold Caramel upfront facing the moons light, and was shocked to see that Caramel is covered with blood.

I covered my mouth with my hands.

What's going on in here?!

I looked back at the gate...

Is the sign at the gate is also written by blood?

I stomach growled, my knees feels numb and I feel like I'll throw up because of the smell of blood coming from inside the house.

Even tho I'm afraid, curiosity made my foot make its first step through the open door.

The moment I enter the house, my body trembles, my mind turns black, and my ears stop functioning as if I'm deaf. I kneeled down and start crying.

What the hell is going on in here?!

I hug Caramel tightly and closed my eyes.

Heli where are you?! I need you here!
