Chapter 4: The Beginning

Almost a week had passed. Everything went normally. I attended my lectures, hung out with Jessica, Caleb and Adam; though he was cold to me but still he was there whenever we went out. I still had no clue what those bracelets were but there was one weird thing I had noticed. Jessica, Adam and Caleb disappeared for 2-3 hours after college every single day.

It was another day at college. I had my ugly makeover on as usual. I wore contact lenses to hide the blue colour of my eyes, I made spots on my rosy cheeks with my make up kit so that it looked like I have black spots, made plaits of my dark black hair and I also wore a frock like a little girl and the round Harry Potter glasses to give it a finishing touch. The first two lectures went normally, I don't know why but I was feeling a bit uneasy today like something bad was going to happen. For the first time in years I was feeling uncomfortable becoz of my makeover.

I was finding an excuse, to get out of my class and get some fresh air, and guess what, I got one. Professor Price called me and asked me to keep some files in the staff room on the third floor and while he was not looking at me I took my bag and fled away from there. The third floor was just made so there was no one on this floor, students were not allowed on that floor unless there was some valid reason. I kept the files in the staff room and went directly to the washroom, suddenly this makeover and dress was freaking me out. I untied my hair, removed the glasses and lenses, and washed my face. I used some lip balm, eyeliner and mascara; and the only thing left now was my outfit. I changed into black shorts, a sleeveless yellow coloured crop top and last but not the least I wore a black jacket. Done! I'm ready. You must be wondering how did I have all these things with me. Actually my mom gave them to me and she asked me to keep these things with me all the time. She thought that if I had a change of mind about the makeover thing then this outfit will be the perfect one to start with.

I was perfectly ready now, though I din't know where I was gonna go but I din't want to be here. I opened the washroom door and went out. I saw three of my friends standing there, just in front of the washroom and now they all were looking at me, in shock basically. I didn't know what to say.

Me: Ummm.... Hey guys.(awkwardly)

Jessica: Is that really you, Kristen?

Me: Uhh.. Yeah, it's me. Surprise!! How do you like it?(Damn! What am I even saying!!???)

Before they could reply, Vice Principal Isa came, all the attention shifted from me to VP Isa. She looked like she was in a hurry and her expression was terrifying.

VP Isa: Good that you all are already here. We just heard from the Aitkens, the ritual was performed today and Princess Erika has turned into the Queen of Darkness, Leila. She has already killed the most powerful mages on Luna (Moon) including the King Alexander and Queen Ethna, and she has started converting normal people into the Dark Allies. She has sent an army of Dark Allies on the Earth to hunt you down. They will be here any minute. You are the only hope we have of winning against Leila, so you'll have to leave right now.

Me:(What the hell is going on here!!!! What is she talking about?? Queen of Darkness? Dark Allies? Killing people? MAGES?? I turned to look at my friends to see if I can get any hints but they all looked at Isa determinedly, as if they understood everything she said.)

She was looking at us or more like she was looking at Adam, Caleb and Jessica when her gaze fell on me.

VP Isa: What are you doing here Miss Kristen??!!

Me: Ohh.. I uhh... I actually--

VP Isa: I feel strong potential in you. Something really very powerful. I see that fate brought you here.(She was speaking with her eyes closed like she was really feeling my power. Her expression was blank. Out of sudden she broke the silence) We don't have much time. I think you are the Last Chosen One.

Me: What!!??(All of my friends looked at me in shock but they didn't say a thing.)

VP Isa: (Ignoring me she continued) Take this diary.(She gave Adam a diary) This will help you. It has everything you need to know. You have to leave the campus as soon as possible. You will also have to explain everything to Miss Kristen.

Me: (Oh great! Atleast she remembers that I have no idea of what is going on here.)

VP Isa: You have to escape from girl's washroom. You remember your training, right?(She smiled and looked at us like were the only hope left in the world.)

Adam, Caleb & Jessica: Yes!!

VP Isa: Okay then. Get going already.

She started leaving. OMG!!?? Is she just leaving like that? I have so many questions. Is this some kind of a prank?

Me: Ohh wait!!! What is going on here?

I asked Isa but she was long gone. Damn! Did she just disappear? I started walking with an intention of following her, even though I din't know where she went, but Jessica grabbed my hand and pulled me into the girl's washroom as Adam and Caleb followed.
