Chapter 38: Don't Fall!
As soon as the things start to form I know who gave them the power to do this. It is the same as the visions that I saw with the Goddess. She really has abandoned us. I can hear Chrissy gasp a little cry to my right and Isabel cursing loudly and specifically to my left. I don't dare look over to them to be sure that they are alright. There is too much danger in looking away from the scene forming in front of me.
Slowly the bodies take shape all around the arena, lying prone. Blood pools around them, leaking into the sand so viscerally that I'm sure this isn't a vision. I'm sure if anything we see here tries to get us then it will be well able to. The corpses pile up, more of them sinking out of the sand until there are piles of dead stacked against the Arena walls and lying in front of us.
