009 The beast

Somewhere in the dark pathway

Huff huff huff

At the side, sat a boy with a pale face. Before he came to the Underground Sect he lived a normal life in a small village. One day it got destroyed by bandits and he got captured and was later sold here.

He was currently sick and tired of this . He dreamt of going back to his village and be with his family.

With a tired face he looked at the empty space in front of him absentmindedly. Until a sound that was produced by two pieces of metal striking brought him back to reality.

He looked towards the direction where the sound originated from.

The sound suddenly stopped.

But just as he was about to relax himself a shadow pounce towards him. Before he realized what was going on his field of vision turned upside down and he saw a lower body.

"It looks familiar"

Before long he realized that was his body and his vision was later on filled with a huge maw filled with sharp teeth closed in from both sides.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"

In the dark pathway

The main group that was running after the front group while maintaining a consistence speed heard a soft screech from the back.

"What was that?"

"I don't know but whatever it is, it is not looking good for us"

"Cheh, whatever "

The group started discussing with each other in an attempt to calm themselves down.

Feng who had just caught up with the group looked at the back of the pathway with eyes filled with uneasiness.

After 30 breaths of time sound's sounded from the pathway behind them. At first it wasn't too audible but as time passed it became more and more audible .

They started to hear loud screeches , bone crunching sound and sound produced by two pieces of metal striking.

Everyone in the group started to quicken the pace as they were all beginning to feel the shadow of death looming over them.

"Oh come on" Feng at the back cursed as he just caught up to them.

Feng clenched his teeth tightly and sped up his pace. For the sake of using every ounce of his strength he ignored the pain and hunger from his body. His speed started to increase little by little allowing him to catch up to a few people from the main group.

Clang clang clang.

The sound keeps getting more and more louder behind them.

One person from the back of the group turned his head around to look for the source of the sound. But what he saw made his legs go numb.

A beast on all fours moving towards them in highspeed. It was a 1m tall wolf with ink black fur, four limbs with sharp claws with ,a maw filled with sharp teeth , chain connecting to the direction from where they came from to its collar, eyes that were red gleaming through the dark pathway.

"RUN!!!!"

They all started sprinting as their maximum speed as they didn't wish to conserve energy anymore in this situation .They wished their mother had birthed them another pair of legs so they can sprint even faster.

Feng at the back of the group was in a predicament where he was running out of breath. He was slowly getting further and further away from the group.

Feng who was running suddenly felt a chill down his spine. At first he thought it was his imagination but he suddenly felt the wind blow towards him. He didn't turn back to look but instead used his left leg to kick off the ground and adjusted his body to the side. He saw a dark shadow smashed to the side of the pathway.

Bang

Crumbling sound reverberate in the pathway as rocks flew all over in that area.

Some little rocks flew and created a small gash on his face.

Feng tried maintaining his balanced whilst started sprinting towards the group which was almost out of sight.

While sprinting he couldn't help but cursed as his left leg felts numb which almost made him fell but he managed to hold on. After 5 breaths the wind blow towards him again but this time it was his face to be more precise it was his head whilst different from last time he managed to ducked in time.

The wolf passed through him from above as a shadow cast over him for a split second.

The wolf managed to used its momentum from its charge to flip around land steadily on the ground. It become enraged seeing that its prey has escaped form it 2 times.

At this moment ,Fang couldn't help but feel despair as the path before him was blocked and he didn't think that turning back is a good option.

Oh right didn't I have that?

Does that even work?

I have no choice right now.

Determination filled his eyes again as he thought of something. As Feng thought of something the wolf had pounced towards him.

As the wolf got closer and closer to him Feng readied his body. He closed his eyes as his senses extended from his body.

In the soul realm, Feng unknowingly focused all his soul power and mold them in to a single speck of light .He reached out his hand, he follow his senses and fired his soul power to the wolf that had reached within range of 5 inches.

A strange scene appeared ,the wolf that was about to slash Feng with its sharp claws suddenly became dull as its claw only left a deep gash on his left arm and it smash onto the side.

At the same time in the soul realm a single speck of light collided with the soul of the wolf making it fainter.

Feng couldn't help but whine a little, even though it was a deep gash on his left arm but he quickly moved his body with every ounce of his strength left and started sprinting towards the exit.
