Exposed

''...''

Vincent never expected Calla to suddenly speak words about her past. For her to do so…didn't mean that she trusted him to a certain degree? Vincent would have happy about that…but from Calla's words, the fact that she said 'he,' was somewhat disturbing.

Vincent knew that there was only one person that Calla could refer to 'he' in her life.

Was her special person the only man in her life, her current husband, the famous Axel kings?

Did that mean he and Calla actually met when they were younger?

Then what about the beautiful Iris Anderson, Calla's dead twin sister and the former fiancée of Axel kings?

Vincent couldn't help but dwell on his thoughts. From the rumors back then, it was said that Axel kings was deep in love with his fiancée. Vincent also heard how the man had distanced himself from women, apart from the beautiful Iris Anderson.

There was never a mention of him and Calla Anderson.

If Calla and Axel kings had met long before he became Iris's fiancée, then what happened?

From Calla's words, it seemed they actually had a close relationship. If they did, then what happened to them?

'Calla isn't one to lie….' Vincent threw a glance at the masked lady, smiling down the kittens mewling at themselves after eating their meal.

'There must be something amiss….' Vincent thought, inwardly deciding to alert Uncle Joe to do more investigation on the history of Calla, Iris Anderson and Axel kings.

Faraway from the squatting and kneeling pair beyond the crooked rusty gate, a black car parked opposite the rusty gate on the side of the road could be seen. Its tinted glass slowly slid down, and dark eyes peered through the tiny space before the glass slid back up.

''Sir….'' Ethan, the personal assistant of Axel kings, raised his gaze, taking a glimpse of his boss's face in the rearview mirror. Even before taking the glimpse, he already felt the drop in the temperature in the car. Though the air conditioner was on, it seemed as if the air became colder than ever.

'Boss, it's not what it's look like…the madam doesn't know you're here. He must be a friend…' Ethan thought to himself, returning his gaze back to the scenery of the madam and the unknown man through the tinted glass.

Actually, he and the boss did not expect to see the madam in this place. Ethan knew this place held a special meaning to his boss.

For his boss to have acquired ownership of the abandoned kindergarten years ago, Ethan had guessed that the place held a special meaning to his boss, since the latter was not one to do something without a reason.

His boss sometimes loved to come here, but who would have expected the madam to be in the same place as well?

The masked side of her face was very visible to them, especially when she turned to look at the man by her side.

No wonder his boss seemed angry. The madam appeared to be wearing his boss a green hat. The distance between the madam and the unknown man wasn't helping things, either.

''Sir…'' Just as Ethan wanted to speak, a voice from behind suddenly interrupted whatever words that were about so spill from his lips.

''Let's go.'' Axel kings calmly took his gaze away from the pair. While his whole countenance seemed unperturbed, the veins appeared on his left hand placed on his lap exposed his actual feelings.

No man would like it when seeing his wife having a rendezvous with another man. Particularly when the said man was not aware.

Axel kings never cared about who his wife met, whether man or a woman. But experiencing the sight was another matter, especially when it was a man.

Even if he that was not with presently with them, could sense the mood between his wife and the unknown man must not be disturbed.

And he hated the sight….deeply.

*vroom*

''What is it?" Calla asked, following the direction that Vincent was looking at, to the sight of the disappearing car.

''….Nothing...'' Vincent withdrew his gaze, keeping his thoughts to himself. If it wasn't his imagination, didn't that car stay behind them for a while, as if they were being watched by someone?

'I did order the bodyguards not follow me…' Vincent wondered if he made the wrong decision. If his bodyguards were here, they would have sorted an issue like this for him.

''Calla, it's getting late…'' Vincent stood up, thinking that it was indeed time for them to leave. Before taking Calla out, he had reasoned out with the lecturers in-charge of the field trip that they would come back before night fall.

The only reason why he and Calla were able to explore was because of the money that he used to sponsor. Let's not forget that it was the Mackay's corporation that the commercial department used for the field trip.

''…You're right.'' Calla knew that the day was already over and night was coming. If She and Vincent were not careful, the lecturers might figure out their absence.

During this field trip, Calla noticed how the lecturers take attendance both in the morning and after dinner. This should be why Vincent decided for them to sneak out of the hotel in the afternoon with the help of that lady, the hotel female worker.

How devious of him.

Calla thought, not expecting Vincent to be the type to break rules. The lecturers specifically said for them not to leave the hotel at any cost…yet Vincent did the opposite of their words.

''Bye guys…'' Bidding her farewells to the kittens by rubbing their furry body once more, Calla then stood up with the plastic bag in her grasp. The paper bags from the clothing store were with Vincent.

''We can come tomorrow. We might see puppies if they come.'' Vincent assured with a smile, noticing the drop in Calla's mood when standing up from the kneeling position.

''Hmm…'' Calla nodded, hoping that she would see stray puppies tomorrow. She also bought dog food from the pet shop, hoping to feed some puppies.

'I hope to see them tomorrow…' Calla thought, waving her hand to the mewling kittens before turning around to catch up with Vincent, who had taken a few steps away from her.

''Thank you.'' This was the first word she said upon halting her steps right by his side.

''How many times are you going to thank me, Calla?'' Vincent sighed with a smile. ''I did this because I wanted to spend time with you, not because I wanted your thanks.''

''Still...thank you.'' Calla pushed, regardless of his words. Though this isn't the thanks that she wanted to give him, she still wanted to thank him for the little things he was doing because of her.

Surely, it wouldn't have been easy for him to be with someone with an appearance like herself so openly.
