Chapter 27

"Boss!" Caid exclaimed, barging into the guest room, "It took a minute but we got a ladder. Had to get it out of one of the supplies closets but no one could find the key. One of the maids had to–" he stopped mid-sentence to survey the scene in front of him. Barstools were strewn across the room, a giant bookshelf was leaning against a very scraped-up wall, and his boss was currently perched on top, not even bothering to look at him.

"Boss!" Caid tried again, this time managing to get Wen's attention.

"Is this," Wen asked slowly, staring at an object in his hands, "what I think it is?"

He bent down to toss it to Caid before climbing down. Caid stared open-mouthed at the knife in his hands, reading over the delicately carved name again and again. Wen Ro. Wen Ro. Wen Ro.

"Fuck."
