Aiden expected to wake up in his own bed in Harrow Lane, just like the last time. When he opened his eyes again, though, he was lying in Ryan's arms, the vampire snuggled close at Aiden's back side.
Aiden choked up with sobs.
Weeks ago, being so close to Ryan felt so right. He thought that they belonged together. Unfortunately, it was nothing but a beautiful dream.
Beautiful dreams were meant to end. It was impossible to hold on to them.
Aiden's movement and sobbing sound woke Ryan up.
The vampire hugged Aiden and buried his face into Aiden's shoulder.
"Don't cry, Aiden..."
The more Ryan told him not to cry, the louder Aiden's cries became.
The young man was so miserable, but he did not change his mind.
"I am sorry," he said with eyes glistening from tears. "I can't do this anymore. Other than for the times when you need me to give you some blood, let's not meet up again."
"Aiden..."
