"Done thinking hard already. We need to catch it before it moves farther away" he said, entirely focused on the boar. I guess I have no other choice. I went beside him crouching low in the bushes.
"So what's the plan," he asked me. Realizing what he actually said seconds later I did a double-take.
"Did you just ask me what's the plan?" I said, not sure I heard him right.
"Ye…sss I did" he nodded
"Fuck this" I upped and left. He grabbed me by the arm holding me back.
"I was just joking," he grinned. I glared at him before going back to the corner. Since it wasn't a more significant kill, he did not need to transform. I went to the corner while he moved in closer to the boar. He used his speed to catch it by surprise before it could get away. Holding it down with all his might I took my blade slicing deep into the side until it stopped moving. I stood upright covered in small blood-stained patches on my cloth and some chicks. I wiped them off.
"You got your pig, let's head back," I said, dusting my hands.
"Yeah yeah," he couldn't hide the glint in his eyes from his kill.
From the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of something in the bushes with glowing eyes. Squinting my eyes to see it properly, my expression darkened. He saw my darkened face, his smile falling into a concerned frown. He looked behind him then back at me confused, "what's wrong" he asked, still looking back. I broke out from my trance looking at him then back at the spot I saw something. It was not there anymore. Did I imagine it?
"It's nothing I thought I saw something. let's head back."
We met up with the rest who caught similar kills as ours except for the boar. They gathered around him cheering him on forgetting I went along with him. He invited me into the talk but I made sure to ignore him and give my distance.
Back at the pack
In honour of a good hunt from everyone, there was going to be a feast later in the evening. I doubt I would be able to go. Was what I concluded.
"You are going to attend the feast tonight" I stood frozen in shock in the alpha's office. He glanced up at me. Seeing my expression then went on to add, "I happen to also be attending " and I was under his watch.
"Ok" I muttered under my breath.
Later in the evening, he instructed the maids to prepare something for me to wear for the feast. So here I was dressed in a black gown and comfy flat shoes. I think the shoes were put into consideration since I had been following him all night long. I arched my back stressed from how long we had been going from one place to another. Looking around I hadn't been to a night feast before.
The alpha came to me, "I will take a long time, so I will give you a little time to look around until I am back" he said, then left.
I walked around for a bit, watching the pack members laugh together as they ate and drank with one another. The little ones played near each other, it was serene to watch.
I saw daven with some other pack members laughing, he happened to meet my gaze and then said something to the others before coming over to where I stood.
"Didn't think you would come for the feast?" he said, all smiles like he was glad to see me.
"I didn't think so either" I shifted between my legs nervously.
"What do you think of it," he said looking around. I couldn't help but follow his gaze watching everyone moving around.
"Not as exciting as I thought it would be," I said
He awkwardly winced "That wasn't the answer I was expecting"
"Sorry to burst your bubble"
"What if I could change your answer" he suggested to me.
I tilted my head to the side, curious about what he meant so I asked, "how?"
He nodded towards an empty corner that lead to the forest. I immediately refused his request. "I can't leave this spot. I'm waiting for the alpha" I lied flatly, well he did allow me to walk about for a bit.
He looked behind me, "that alpha" he pointed at the alpha who I was supposedly waiting for walking away with some people.
"I guess he forgot I was waiting" I concluded
"Has anyone told you, you are a terrible liar," he raised an eyebrow at me.
"I can be very convincing most times," I said, plopping my hands on my waist.
"So you admit it's a lie" my eyes widened when I realized I was caught. I sighed.
"I am under watchful eyes leaving them would mean trouble," I said
"I will be the one watching you when we go," he retorted.
"You are very persistent," I gave him a pointed look, " aren't you scared of going into the woods with me? I am suspected of killing a whole pack" I folded my arm hoping to scare him away.
He gave me a serious look, "I don't believe you killed them"
Faltering a bit at his words I gave up. "Fine let's go" we went into the woods together.
"I have wondered why you approach me a lot. Won't it be better to ignore me like everyone else?"
"I can't do that, you would be lonely" We walked farther in and I wasn't comfortable with walking this far in.
"Where are we going? " I asked him. He kept quiet for a while before saying.
"You know you shouldn't trust people." He stopped right in front of me. We haven't made it not too far from where we entered through the woods. I felt a chill run down my spine as he stabbed himself with a knife.
