The Group Grows...

After Daichi was finally done checking out the interface of the Mana Archive Community App on his own, he decided to explain the interface to the others. Bella was Bella so everything simply went over her head and Saeko also wasn't that different. Saeko had never used a smartphone, so she also didn't know most of the terms Daichi was using during the explanation.

"I think it would be better if we get a smartphone for ourselves as soon as possible" Yuriko pointed out and Daichi couldn't help but hum in agreement.

Now that all types of communications were out of order, the Community App was sure to make a huge hit. Daichi suspected that someone without the Community App couldn't be on the Rankings. That would be a huge loss for his group. Maybe some of them like Bella might be able to slip into the Top 10…

"What? Why? Bella doesn't know how to use this smartfone…" Bella whined and childishly stomped her foot.

"You can always learn how to use a smartphone and it will be important" Daichi insisted and Bella simply huffed like a spoiled princess.

Unlike Bella, Saeko wasn't against the idea of getting a smartphone and learning how to use it. From Daichi, she knew that the Mana Community App is going to be the only means of communication and communication was always important. Additionally, Daichi had also mentioned that there are going to be Rankings and the Top 10 Rankers would get discounts and coupons. All of those were not that important to her… She simply wanted to be in the Top 10 Rankings.

"Milord, it seems that we have company, shall I kill them?" All of a sudden, Bella gushed out in a hopeful tone as batted at eyes at Daichi.

"Of course not and I have already noticed them" Daichi said and he inclined his head towards one of the tall buildings near the intersection.

'If I remember correctly, then that used to be a nice hotel before the shit hit the fan' Daichi mused internally as he watched a group of survivors approach him nervously. From their looks and complexion, Daichi immediately realized that they must be foreigners and from their age, they were probably somewhere around Daichi's age, probably somewhat older. 'This is going to be a real bother' Daichi couldn't help but sigh.

Daichi was quite proficient in English, but besides that, he was a complete sucker when it came to foreign languages. If they didn't know English, then he would have to depend on Bella to communicate with them and that was not something Daichi was looking forward to. Bella is not a communicator even on her good days, at best, she would end up Cursing them if she got bored and she was bound to get bored if he used her as an interpreter.

"They look like foreigners" Saeko muttered in a low tone.

"They must have been trapped here due to the disaster… Poor kids" Yuriko sighed in sympathy. The group of foreigners finally arrived in front of Daichi's group and all of them looked kind of weary and tired. Nothing out of the ordinary considering the current situation.

"Hello, my Anthony Reeds" The man at the front extended his hand toward Yuriko as he introduced himself. Well, Yuriko was the oldest, so it wasn't a surprise that they thought that Yuriko was the leader of the group.

'Thank God they speak English' on the other hand, Daichi couldn't help but release a relieved sigh. He wasn't enraged over the fact that the group had made a mistake. It was pretty normal for them to think that Yuriko was their leader. Yuriko's lips thinned as she extended her hand toward the offered limb. To be honest, she had no idea how Daichi was going to react due to this misunderstanding, and then there was Bella, she quickly needed to clear the misunderstanding before the insane woman thought that she was trying to steal the leadership.

"Hello, my name is Takagi Yuriko, and he is the Leader of our group" Yuriko hurriedly introduced herself and cleared the misunderstanding in one go. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed Bella was still glaring at her.

The group of foreigners was taken aback when Yuriko pointed toward Daichi, but right now they had more important things to deal with. Anthony Reeds approached Daichi without wasting any more time. "Hello, as you have already heard, my name is Anthony Reeds and I am the current Leader of our group. Do you mind if we have a small chat?" Anthony extended his hand as he spoke in a polite tone.

Right now, Daichi didn't have any time to spare, but at the same time, he simply couldn't blow off the polite offer. Some of the members of their group obviously looked nervous, but some of them like seemed to be quite aware of their surroundings. Anthony was also one of them. He might look like he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings, but he was constantly looking around. 'He is at least Level 1, but I don't think that he is a Level 2' Daichi concluded inside his mind.

"Sure, but please make it quick… We are in a kind of hurry" Daichi answered back in English. Anthony simply nodded his head in understanding and from his reaction, he didn't seem to be displeased.

"That is enough. Have you heard anything about the army or any rescue mission? I couldn't help but notice that your group arrived in a military vehicle" Anthony asked politely but he still couldn't hide his anxiety.

From the way Anthony was acting, he was trying really hard to keep a strong front to stop the others from breaking down, but at the end of the day, he was also in their shoes. Daichi cringed due to the way Anthony was speaking. He felt like he was dealing with one of those fancy politicians. Well, Daichi didn't have any experience with real-life politicians, he simply knew how politicians acted from stories and TV shows Kyoko liked to watch.

"You can speak formally, and my name is Yozora Daichi. As for your question, right now, I don't know anything about rescue missions and the Humvee is private property" Daichi replied and then he slowly turned toward Yuriko. "Takagi-san, can you get the Humvee?" Daichi requested and Yuriko left after giving him a nod.

"I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable, my bad, I thought that I might end up offending someone if I am not being polite" Anthony smiled softly. "Actually, can you do me a favor?" Anthony asked with a smile.

After hearing Anthony's words, Daichi simply released a tired sigh. "I am sorry I can't. Right now, I am in no position to do you a favor" Daichi couldn't help but shake his head.

"I am not asking for something over the top… We simply want to join your group. That is the favor I wanted" Anthony hurriedly explained the favor he wanted from Daichi.

Daichi couldn't help but raise his brows. "Why? I don't think your group would have any problems surviving. You already have a couple of Level 1s including you…" Daichi trailed off, but this time instead of Anthony, a girl stepped forward to answer Daichi's question.

"My name is Joyce Bell, and even though we have some Level 1s among us, we were barely able to survive up to this point… The building is completely lurking with Zombies, we were barely able to get out" The girl quickly introduced herself and explained their situation.

"I see… So, you want to join our group because you think you won't be able to survive for long?" Daichi asked as he tapped his chin.

Anthony simply snorted. "Yeah! First of all, we don't know shit about this region, we arrived here the night before the world got fucked by this Mana and our guide took off as soon as the shit started. Then we have also run out of food, we were stuck near the first floor since this started" Anthony explained, finally losing his cool.

"Ah… All of you are welcome to join our group, but if you want to be a part of our group, then you need to follow the rules of my group. If you can't then I will simply toss you on the street… I am not running a charity…" with that Daichi started to explain the rules. Some of the members of Anthony's group looked unsatisfied with the rules, but there was nothing they could do as Anthony himself agreed with the rules as he found them quite reasonable, especially in the current situation.

Daichi didn't miss the unsatisfied looks, but he knew that there was nothing they could do since their Leader had accepted the conditions. Now, their only option was to leave the group, which was like a death sentence to them at this moment. "Good, so how many of you know how to drive?" Daichi asked and all of the new members raised their hands. 'If nothing else, I got a bunch of drivers for my group' Daichi wondered while scratching his cheek…
