The Group Grows, Again (II)...

Daichi led Kanae inside one of the stores so that they could speak without being heard by the others. Since Kanae wanted to talk with both Daichi and Kemono, the vermillion-haired woman followed her son and Kanae inside the store. Kanae had prepared the conversation inside her mind, but it was easier said than done. Now that it was finally the time to have the conversation, Kanae's breath hitched due to nervousness. If she made even a single mistake, then she would end up dead.

Kanae glanced toward Kemono, but she wasn't able to hide her wariness. Neither Daichi nor Kemono missed Kanae's action, and Daichi groaned internally. He was right, Kanae had seen his mom kill Aoba and Tsukomo. Now he wanted to know if everyone on the top floor saw his mom or if it was just Kanae's group. Kanae's group only consisted of 9 members and according to Bella, there were 38 members on the top floor, which meant there were still 29 people on the floor.

"So, what did you want to talk about?" Daichi questioned with a sigh, he already knew what she wanted to talk about, but he still wanted to see if Kanae would really try to blackmail him. Killing her right now was going to be kind of troublesome, but she will die if she tried to blackmail them.

Kanae took a deep breath as gathered her courage. "Firstly, I want to make it clear that I not trying to use anything against you and I don't plan to blackmail the two of you or anything… Secondly, I am not trying to gain any favors for myself or my group…" Kanae explained cryptically, making Daichi release a relieved sigh internally. It wasn't like he already trusted the girl, but if the girl really had any plans of blackmailing them, then Kanae wouldn't be speaking like this. At least he didn't think so…

So, before Kanae could continue, Daichi decided to cut her off. "Let me guess, you saw her kill two men?" Daichi guessed with a sarcastic look on his face, and Kanae was slightly taken aback that Daichi had already guessed what she wanted to say. Then she finally realized that she had made it kind of obvious with how she has been acting.

"You…" Kemono snarled menacingly as flames burst out of her hands, she was about to lunge at the girl so that she could turn the bitch into ashes, but Daichi raised stopped her with a simple gesture of his hand.

Meanwhile, Kanae had instinctively raised her hand to protect herself, as soon as the flames burst out of the woman's hands, Kanae thought that she was a goner, but it seemed that luck was on her side. Kemono wanted to question Daichi, she couldn't understand why Daichi had stopped her, but Daichi decided to speak up before she could voice her questions.

"Tawata-san, why are you telling us this, especially when you already knew that we might attack you or misunderstand the whole situation?" Daichi questioned in a firm tone. To be honest, Kanae almost shat in her pants when she saw the flames and furious look on that demonic woman's face, but she got the proof that Daichi really was the Leader of this group. After all, he stopped the woman from killing her with a simple gesture.

After thinking for a bit, Kanae was finally able to put her feelings into words. "…I simply wanted to come clean, if the truth came out one day, for whatever reason, you would have blamed me. You would have thought that I was probably planning to hold it over your heads and I also wanted you to know that it wasn't just me, everyone on the top floor saw her kill those two men" Kanae explained with a shake of her head.

Daichi immediately glared at his mom, who at least had the decency to look abashed under her son's glare, but it only worked for a few moments. After a few seconds, she shrugged her shoulders with a 'It is not my fault, you can't blame me' look on her face. "I didn't know a bunch of voyeurs were hiding on the top floor" Kemono muttered under her breath, but her voice was quite low enough. Both Daichi and Kanae heard her words.

Daichi simply rubbed his face while Kanae's face turned red, just like a tomato. "Don't worry, I will take care of it" Kemono growled menacingly, and once again, Daichi decided to stop her before she ended up making an even bigger mess.

"No, you will do nothing. I will take care of it" Daichi said in a firm tone, leaving no room for arguments. Kemono wanted to argue, but after she saw the look on Daichi's face, she decided to accept his decision, but that didn't stop her from pouting like a little girl who has been denied her favorite chocolate.

"Son, you are being mean to me" Kemono whined, revealing her large canines. Meanwhile, Kanae was completely taken aback by a surprising revelation. She was pretty sure that she had seen the boy kiss the woman, but the woman was the boy's mother?

"You are her son?" Kanae blurted out with a bewildered look on her face.

"We are not related by blood" Daichi clarified with a grin on his face. Even though Kanae found out that they weren't related by blood, she still felt kind of uncomfortable. Not that she was going to say it out loud. First of all, it wasn't her place to say anything since the two of them were obviously fine with it, and secondly, they weren't related by blood, so it was probably fine.

"Is there anything else you wanted to talk about?" Daichi asked when she saw that Kanae finally regained all of her bearings.

At first, Kanae was about to say that she had nothing else to say, but all of a sudden she remembered something. "Can some of my members help around the base? Even though all of my group members have reached Level 1, they are not fit for fighting" Kanae requested as she explained the problem.

"Yeah sure, I don't have any problems with that" Daichi agreed with her request since he needed some people to help around the base. "If there is nothing else, then let's go. Tell your group members to help us with the food" Daichi said as he started to head toward the exit of the store. Kemono didn't bother to say anything else, and she simply followed her son out of the store.

"Yeah sure, let me introduce you to everyone in my group" Kanae said as she walked up to Daichi. The said boy simply gave her a nod as he made his way toward the rest of their group…

Before Kanae could start with the introductions, Daichi decided to ask her about her Skill. Kanae didn't mind sharing the details of her Skill with him, so she simply extended her hand toward Daichi. Daichi quirked his brows in surprise, Kanae was the first person he had met who knew how to share the Status Screens with other people. Daichi accepted her hand and moments later, a screen appeared in front of his eyes.

'Not bad…' Daichi mused, it wasn't a bad Skill. Daichi did not know how much Mana Kanae had, but if her reserve was big, then she could be a pretty dangerous opponent.

Kanae first introduced Daichi to Kabato Ran, the boy was the second strongest in Kanae's group, according to the Kanae, Kabato Ran was marginally weaker than her. Kabato Ran's Skill allowed him to harden his skin, but unlike Dylan or the Zombie Daichi had fought at the intersection, he didn't need to use any outside material. He could simply harden his skin, it would be still his skin, but it would turn hard like steel.

Next was Kabato Chiyo, she was the third strongest in Kanae's group, she was quite weaker than Ran, but it was fine since her Skill wasn't combat-oriented. Her Skill allowed her to buff five people around her. During the buff, all the physical parameters of a person would be increased by 10 Stats and Daichi had to admit, it was quite a powerful ability, especially when all of everyone's Physical stats were still below 100.

The fourth strongest was Tawata Mika. Daichi wondered if this girl was Kanae's sister, but the two girls looked extremely different. There were no similarities between them and it was the same with Kabato Ran and Kabato Chiyo. For now, Daichi decided to put that matter aside as Daichi found Tawata Mika's Skill extremely interesting. Mika's Skill allowed her to turn into a ghost, obviously, in her ghost form she was completely intangible, so she could easily pass through walls and floors in her ghost form.

Though her Skill had a limitation, she couldn't pass through the ground. Mika Skill was perfect for an assassin and Daichi decided that she was going to help that grow. If he could nurture her correctly, then Mika was going to be a huge asset in the future. Daichi wasn't going to let the girl waste her potential. Daichi decided to pull aside the girl along and have a chat with her after returning to Rika Minami's house, he would also ask Kanae to join too, in case, Mika was actually her sister or something like that…
